  • Wired one is $70 off too

Good pickup. I use the Wireless in a wired configuration as it saves me having to charge the battery and also I get the HomeBase instead of an onboard memory card.

      • How do you wire this?
any reference where I can find the wiring config?

      • FYI to others reading, the wireless in a wired config isn't as good as the wired doorbell.
The wired versions offers continuous recording so you have no delay in the trigger. In other words, the wired version will always record 3 seconds prior to whatever triggers the motion. I find the wireless version can sometimes have a 2-3 second delay on the trigger so the subject may have already moved out of the FOV.

  • Is home base also a chime

    • +1

      Yes

      • if I already have a homebase and just buy a Eufy Wireless cam, could I use my existing homebase as chime ?

        • Yes you can. From eufy app you can straight away add the wireless doorbell. Better if you have home base 2. As home base 1 has some restrictions on functionality

          • @greywine: how do you identify between homebase 1 and 2 ? Mine only says "Homebase"

            • @DevD: Home base 2 is narrower than home base 1. Also if it says homebase then most probably its version1.

    • Home base is a little chatterbox, as it also talks when its internet connection is interrupted. Gave my kids a fright the first time it did so. ;-)

Put the add on camera on sale you animals.

    • I just asked them to price match Good guys commercial at $211. They did it no problem.

      • I don't see an eufy for $211 on good guys commercial, which product is it?

        • 211 is for the add on camera only , no base

I returned my wireless 2k. Look at the review on YouTube by lifehackster about the loudspeaker function…. the delay is so long that a conversation is very difficult and the saved clips cannot even record the whole conversation, the delay is that deal-breakingly bad. A firmware update to fix this was promised but hasn't arrived. As soon as I heard that the wired version is getting a newer model, I returned my wireless one.

    • +3

Might this be related to your wifi? I notice with my 2c cameras that I can hear it almost instantly

    • +2

Have you seen this? He seems to indicate the delay is fixed, even though there's still seems to be like a couple seconds delay. He also has an advice regarding the recording.

The speaker may be a little slow for intercom, but its very fast for notifications (rings quickly, detects quickly etc) - it often beats the Arlo cameras. That gives you some time to get to the actual door. It also captures the best portrait of the visitor in the history, which is helpful. Battery life has been about six months on high detection mode too. I'm very happy with mine and am tempted to get another to replace the Ring (G1) that my in-laws have.

  • +2

    Does these integrate with HomeKit?

    • +2

Eufy indicated it would be, but never happened. Many ppl were very peeved. Sounds like need to wait for v2 (hardware changes) for HK.

    • They Eufy recently posted the this will NOT have HomeKit support. It was once rumoured that it would.

The EufyCam2 and 2c's do have HomeKit with HKSV.(Not door bells)
Also note that the resolution of these cameras is higher than what Homekit supports. So if you add them to Homekit, it will affected image quality by a lot.

      • Hi insomniac, do you know if the EufyCam 2 & 2c's work with Homebase 2 along with the 2k doorbell wireless? Cheers.

  • I need one. Now thinking this or Orion?
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/orion-grid-connect-smart-wireles…

Orion has pretty good reviews and price tag.

    • I wouldn't buy it simply because the Grid app is painfully bad

  • +1

My use with it with 3 other 2c cameras is mixed. When it detects and records, it's good. But in my experience can sometimes miss motion/recording altogether and/or start recording late. Battery life not as promised. Eufy suggests using an extra separate motion sensor to help detection, and then create an automation to start the video recording. But then you cant schedule the automation which is a PITA so you get recordings when you dont want to (eg kids or pets in yard). Far from ideal. Also as mentioned above, delay on remote audio is problematic. I'd give it a 6/10; havent used anything else though for comparison.

    • How's the experience with 2c cam? I am considering to get those (3 camera pack)

      • +4

In my experience - I have charged them about 2 full cycles from when I purchased the set around March. Given I have it as a front door monitoring system to answer the door like a door bell. It is good at what it does. I have set mine to only detail people but it does pick up moths and cats. It also picks up from time to time people outside of my set perimeter. There is a slight delay and at times misses events entirely (Could be due to poor lighting, or the subject is moving too fast). However, in it's defense, it did pick up when someone tried to break into my ute. I would not pay full price for this, but to it's merit without a subscription based cloud - it is good. I paid $280 for the 2 set and overall at this price and points above 8/10.

Pros - No cloud, records and videos are clear.

Cons - Delay at times and weak battery (Situational to where you house yours)

        • I am in complete dilemma, I live in 2 storey house. So if I buy some wired security camera, then there's a cost of installation as well (as much as cost of the cameras). So I was thinking if wireless ones are good enough, then I can install those myself.

Battery is crap, bought mine for $266 from JB, 11% off $299 2 weeks ago. Battery is down to 52% after 11 days … thought I’d get 6 months from one charge.

          • +2

@Oakok: Battery is awesome on mine. Tweak your detection settings. I've only charged mine after having it up for 3 months and it still had 25+% battery…

          • +2

            @Oakok: Mine's on 72% after 44 days
            549 detections
            134 filtered
            415 recorded

            • -1

@KNGPN: I’ve had 737 detections in 11 days … maybe this is why the battery is draining so fast.

              • +2

@Oakok: Like @Maz78 said, maybe tweak your detection settings

      • +1

Better. But still not completely dependable. The tech still has some way to come in general I reckon. Mate has arlo ultras and same deal. Better than nothing but can’t be completely relied on

        • Mate has Ring floodlight, which he is very happy about and was suggesting to me get as well.

    • Just purchased the Battery model off Amazon AU for $265. Think the wired version is also available at that price.

  • Any update if they rolled out 2FA in Aus? Seems the US and parts of Europe are seeing it. Would be nice to have it confirmed here.

    • +2

Looks like it just launched. When I opened the app this morning it asked if I wanted to enable 2FA, haven’t done it yet though.

    • Yep, looks it…just opened up the app and got a pop up
      https://imgur.com/gallery/u1dFaRN

    • Mine prompted for it a few days ago - they seem to be progressively launching it at the moment.

  • Could this be linked to reolink wireless cameras?

  • Can this open the gate (electric strike)? Because there doesn’t seem to be much point seeing the delivery man if I can’t let him in to drop off the package. If not any ideas how to do it?

    • +1

You’d need a separate access solution. I’ve used this twice in conjunction with a HomeKit based deadbolt to let delivery people drop a package inside remotely. It was a little clunky when having to switch apps on the phone but doable, easier when using a device for each.

The main issue I have these days is delivery people that don’t bother ringing it, or even knocking, though at least this thing gives me an alert that they’ve done a drop and dash….

      • +1

        Or a toss!
There was one day where my doorbell took video of the postie standing 10 feet back and throwing the box! Then he had the audacity to snap his "delivered proof" photo… [eyeroll]. It was great to have video of it, but I didn't report him as he's usually careful and there wasn't anything fragile - everyone has bad days.

But yes, agree, many aren't bothering to knock or ring if they see a video doorbell installed.

Just ordered one from bunnings price beat $251, time to get rid of my ring door bell and stop paying $40 a year subscription

    • me too! just need to wait a few days for it to arrive :)

    • me three! waiting for the phone call, up to 2 weeks.

    • My local bunnings are telling me they can't price beat special order items. Did you guys have to call around to get this done?

      • Looks like bunnings dropped their price 279

      • thats BS , they can do that easily

        • From memory Bunnings only match in-stock items and not special orders.

          • @syba: not true, no issue getting price match for special orders handful of times

  • +1

Fyi eufy pushed out a new firmware 2 days ago to my wireless doorbell and it's so much better at detection and recording. If anyone has issues check their doorbell firmware and if you aren't contact eufy and get them to push firmware 2.2.2.1 to your doorbell.

  • Has anyone got experience with installing the wired version of the door bell? How difficult is it or do I really need to get an electrician to do it?

  • Does anyone know if this can be secured with screws to easily prevent theft? I'm thinking of putting one on our front gate.

  • +1

I bought this today on impulse but wish I did more research.
This isn't quite compatible with Google Home which is disappointing. Would've loved for the bell chime to play through my google home devices.
Also, there is no theft replacement program like what Ring offers in case device is stolen. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone, but its just one of those things I wish I considered before making this purchase

    • Ring theft guarantee isn’t for Australia

    • +1

if un-open why not return it?

  • How good is the camera when it is placed in a porch but the scene past the porch could be bright on a sunny day? i.e. the person walks up and is in the shade of the porch but the background is still well lit?

  • $265 on amazon currently and I think shopback is 10% off amazon

    • +1

I'd say it would be 5% cashback, but still not bad

      • Yeah you're correct 5% i misread the "amazon devices" info without realising its amazon devices XD

        • Amazon is sold out.

  • There are some serious outstanding issues to consider, i.e. when there is no internet, there is no recording nor access locally. To me that's unthinkable for a product whose advertised promise is to be a local solution without the need to rely on the cloud. No way Jose…..

    • it has 16gb internal for the wireless homebase 2. Either you have run out of space or you don't have that model.
