Yelled at by Post Office Employee

I went to my local post office to send a parcel, picked up a mailing box, packed it and addressed it, then noticed it had a tear in it, a large tear which made it look shabby really. So I crossed out the address, and got a new one, without a tear. I then handed in the damaged one, and the guy started yelling at me saying you have to buy this, you have ruined our box. We could have taped it, no, you have to pay. So they made me buy it, and taped up the tear, and put a mailing label over the crossed out address I think I will go elsewhere after being yelled at like that. May even leave a review.

That must have hurt your feelings when that man yelled at you :(

    • Yes.

Never take advice from Pam 😂😂😂

picked up a mailing box, packed it and addressed it

Customers have to pay for the packing material before using it.

So they made me buy it

    Of course, they did.

    Ohhh. It's Pam.

    • -1

The licensed Australia post shop guy could have returned it as defective or whatever. He’s probably sick of people just treating his shop like a post office though.

      • +13

The Pam already defaced the box with a pen or marker and tape. The LPO can't return used packaging material.

        • So if there was a misprint on one of the boxes, and there was black ink speared all over the label, the licensee of the post office wouldn't be able to send it back as defective stock and get refund on whatever he paid for it?

    • -3

wouldnt have made any difference because I didnt notice the tear until after I had addressed it

      • +6

It would have made a difference because you would have already paid for it.
And then you would have talked to the guy and said "hey man, this has a tear, is it ok if I grab a new one?"
Then he would have said "sorry, can't do that, but we can tape it up so your stuff will be ok"

Then we could all have saved the time reading this thread.

        • maybe because "my precious" got damaged?

I see we have retired Karen now! Pam is the new Karen

Good luck with the bargains Pam, keep us up to date on how you go.

    • If you are too busy to reply, please think twice before making a forum topic in the future. There is little benefit to this post which asks no question, made by a poster who gives no reply.

These posts may be better suited to the companies social media page, Product Review etc.

      Thanks for your understanding.

Here, we have an unsuspecting target - the local post office.

The Pam, a seasoned hunter scopes out the target, looking for an opportunity to play a victim.

The target notices the entitlement and immediately goes into a defensive stance but it's too late. The hunter moves in for the kill. She successfully becomes the victim and will be feasting on validation for hours.

      • Also include a wrap of the episode with her rather unsuccessful boasts/attempts to gain sympathies on OZB

Did the package contain some of the face masks that you have for sale?

Tell me who it was Pam and I'll set the bikies onto them.

  • Was the package destined for the CWA scone baking competition by any chance? Back in 1986, maybe?

Did you expect not to pay for it?

Was only thinking this morning, not heard from Pam in a while… Glad you’re still alive, Pam.

I am kinda surprised that you found your keys to drive to the post office. We’re you mailing out some of those face masks and picking up your course materials from that seminar you couldn’t attend, but paid for?

And yelled at. Why do I have this feeling that everyone that doesn’t do what Pam wants them to do, she would consider anything they say to her as “yelling”?

“Excuse me, ma’am, you will need to pay for that box now that you have written all over it”
“WhY aRe yOu YeLLiNg aT mE!!”

"May even leave a review" - very threatening words from pam

      • +4

Pam loves a good "Review Bomb" when she doesn't get her way…

    • I'm new to this :D. Therefore my question below.

Is this character someone who cannot jump over a hurdle or drive over a speed hump, until someone removes it (e.g. can only travel on flat and smooth ground)?

      • as long as the flat, smooth ground is also downhill

    • You forgot to add, maybe the younger guy she's in love with called her and said nothing on the phone, she got distracted trying to decipher his silence into a confession of undying love for her and her common sense went out the door in the meantime.

      • Nah, I think she didn't notice the split in the box because she was too concerned over who accepted her invite as a friend on Facebook when she had never added this person…

  • Show some phucking resilience

Nice to have Pam bring some funny stories to the forums

At least she’s an active deal poster

Someone yelled at me once. I think. I must have gotten over it, since I can't remember the details, and didn't bother to post about it on a forum…

  • "OH (profanity) IT'S HELLOPAM FROM OZBARGAIN! RUN!"

  • +1

I didn't think there was fear and terror beyond Trump.

    (I was wrong).

  • Its actually pronounced "Palm."

  • Ok, they should have said it nicer instead of yelling at you since they're in customer service business.

BUT, you shouldn't just grab another box. It's a shop after all, you need to pay for it.

    What are you 8yo

  • +2

So I crossed out the address, and got a new one

    So you damaged their property…

  • Actually guys,
Australia Post really lack transperancy and accountableness.

I saw a poor lady in line in front of me get told she couldn't return a faulty item because the receipt she had
    was a photocopy.

On another occasion, they told me I had to send a disabled parking sticker that grandma had left in my car as a parcel and not a letter,
even though it only weighed 20 grams. $1.10 vs $8.

Both times I contacted australia post online via facebook, and they didn't show any consideration. Just generic responses

    • +4

      "Australia Post really lack transperancy"

In their defence, dictionaries also lack this.

there are plenty of other ways to provide proof of your transaction.

According to NSW Fair Trading examples of proof include:

credit card or debit card statements
      handwritten receipts
      lay-by agreements
a confirmation or receipt number provided for a telephone or internet transaction
      loyalty card recordings
      photos or photocopies

Pretty sure other state laws are the same…

      • I know,
But the staff at my local australia post had the lady in front of me in tears because they wouldn't accept it.

I honestly think it is a bit similiar to bank staff sometimes, there are soulless people that work in some of them with a bad culture.

On the other hand the aus post in the last town i lived in was fantastic

Maybe if she had a laminated copy of the Charter of Human Rights with her, they would have thought again before doing what they did…

  • is this a troll post 😅

    • I assure you it's not.
      Have a look at OP's previous posts…

  • leave a complaint on a post. they listen to it and if you have a case, they may give you restitution.
