Offering 2TB for a one time fee is not a sustainable business model and I wouldn’t be trusting my data with any company that pulls this crap.

$229 for storage that could disappear at any point? Might as well buy a unlimited Google Drive of eBay for a few bucks.

Didnt even know you could do this!

    • Whats the deal buying unlimited Google drive storage of eBay ? Any catch ??

      • Good chance the account reseller gets banned and you lose all the files you uploaded.

I think that's @PainToad point, don't buy IceDrive Lifetime or Google Drive lifetime off eBay.

        Any catch ??

Not hey that sounds good, tell me more!!

Need we look at Zoolz that just closed. Agree with that above comment it might be 1 year or 5 years but it’s not sustainable.

Yes I bought Zoolz "lifetime" cloud service 1TB, then 3 years later I got the email saying we are closing our Australian servers.
Zoolz emailed me; We are keeping your money but for one year you can have 90% off our yearly plan, which you will have to pay $29.99, next year it will be $272.64.
I would be super suspicious of this deal, but I can't negative vote a deal that hasn't done anything wrong…………yet!!

      • My main issue is people need to be aware that it IS inevitable.
It’s lifetime, but how long is the lifetime?
Unless this service lasts 4 years it’s not a bargain compared to yearly Dropbox or sync

  • Agree, im interested to try their service, but the worry of them shutting down at any moment is an issue.
What is the consensus with the eBay $1-5 unlimited storages?
Is there any way to NOT loose access at some point?

add: TBF on this offer though, they also do have monthly plans.

    • Not only can you lose access someone else has all the access to your data as it’s essentially a shared folder.
      Don’t do it.

Get a reputable storage on a yearly plan… office 365 or Google drive might be one of the cheapest.
      Maybe even Sync.

      Just.don’t.do.it

Even if it lasts 3 years you’ve paid $229 or something and that’s like 4 years of sync

      • You can use something like Rclone to automatically encrypted everything uploaded to the team drives so even if someone browses your files, they won't be able to read them.

Doesn't solve the possibility of getting banned however.

      • A few storage companies been busted selling "lifetime deals" then shutting down a year or two later before rebranding and doing it all over again!

If you use rclone with encryption then shouldnt need worry about the admin of the google drives having access to your files.. I got a few "backup" on alumni edu accounts three years ago and theyre still good. I do pay for gsuite but its good have backup copies as always (in addition to local backups on LTO and at offsite location).

        • Valid points - you’re still at the mercy of someone who can shut it down at any time and possibly delete your stuff

      • I only store non private stuff that isn’t so much of an issue of I lose it. Only a hassle to re-get everything that was on there (or more like get the recent stuff I put there)

I only use these cloud storages as a backup of personal NAS. And then the NAS as a backup of my hard disk. Never 100% trust any cloud. When they go way, all data lost.
