Optical extras cover in health insurance - use for optical extras when you are not shortsighted

Hi everyone,

My wife has all her optical limit unused, around $250, is there anything she can spend it on as she is not short sighted? Been told optoms cant perscribe sunglasses without prescription lenses in them under the cover. And obviously she doesnt need contact lenses.

Any ideas? Or it is just 'wasted'?

Thanks

    Is she longsighted? :)

Clearly not, since she married OP.
EDIT: just kidding! (ready to be negged)

      • Upvote for you ! haha

  • She can spend it on others, at least mine can.
Online optometrists (e.g. Clearly) let you put whatever prescription you want on the glasses.
If her PHI is under Medipass, she can get the credit straightaway from Specsavers without claiming through the PHI.

  • Save yourself a trip to specsavers and order your sunglasses and prescription glasses online for like $20.

  • Buy contact lenses for family & friends. Obviously not suppose to but then it is also your money in theory.

Go in and find whatever sunglasses you want. Get them to put the minimum script in, tell them to keep the original lenses. Win.

  • Thanks for the comments everyone! I havent heard of Clearly so will check it out!

And no shes not long sighted!

  • I hate to be a party pooper, but what is being discussed in here is insurance fraud.

The claim can only be made by the beneficiary of the insurance and for specific reasons.

Is being blacklisted or getting charged for insurance fraud really worth a $250 claim?
