Seems like a great price….Friday might have better timings for this price? (So I’ve been told)

    • You think there will be a similar product for less on actual Black Friday?

      • Apparently $76 for Crucial 3600 CL16 last year.

  • Seems like expensive shipping - I actually bothered to check - including shipping, price to me would be $102 :-/ Considering similar Amazon deals have free shipping…

    • Yeah the ones on Amazon, if you have PRIME, are $108 with slightly better timings. If you don’t have PRIME then this is probably a decent price? I’m no expert tho…(no sarcasm)

      • 3600 CL16 for $108? I can't find that?

          • @Simbooo: Patriot isn't the best brand, their low end fails all the time(based on hundreds of PC the computer store assembled that I used to work in)

I've recently got a set of their viper 4 blackout 8G*2 4400 (it was cheap, amazon have decent warranty, I have back up memory to use anyway)

It turns out to be a set of Samsung 8Gbit B-Die, have 2 XMP profiles: 4266 18-22-22-42 @1.4v, 4400 [email protected].

I have a 10850k/Z490 tomahawk, motherboard is 6-layer PCB so RAM OC shouldn't be a big issue around this frequency.

4400 XMP won't pass TM5 and fails within 5mins, loosen timing to 22-28-28-50 won't pass TM5 either. VCCIO/SA voltage both raised to 1.35v+ so it's not the IMC.

4266 XMP works, but it seems like the tRCD can't go 18(fails MT). I haven't got time to test it more. I didn't raise voltage beyond 1.45v due to large air cooler fan was right above the RAM and there's almost no airflow.

But I'd say it's a very average set.

  • id rather rgb over timings

    • same here.

      • and id rather rgb over latency

  • +5

just fyi, the true latency of 3600mhzC18 is the same as 3200mhz C16, this actually has slightly better effective speeds from higher bandwidth at the same latency.

    • this is almost correct. 3200c16 normally have tRCD 18, 3600c18 normally have tRCD 22.

If you want to match the latency 100%, you'd need tRCD 20.25 (I know it's not possible as it's not a integer)

Also your motherboard tends to give much looser tRFC when you raise frequency.

  • Wish there was a desk on DDR 3 as well

  • Could you pair it with 2x8GB DR4-2933 (PC4-23466) on i7-10700? ie, would it work and perform same as current RAM? Cheers :-)

    • +1

yeah but you have to use 2933 on this stick too if ur board isnt z490

  • Cheers OP

  • I assume this would be worse than my Cl16 3200 Ram on Ryzen 3600. That is a fantastic price though.
