Should be around $220 to be a good deal at this point. Though I know it would not happen anytime soon

Yup it actually reached a low of $190 AUD .. in June on amazon .. see https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B07STGGQ18

They are just milking us on desktop prices since Covid. It's against the principles of OzBargain we should only buy bargains!

I'm personally refusing to buy these inflated prices on principle - and let's face it our current computers are really fast enough to do most things so I'm skipping a generation till some honest to goodness OzBargains appear :D

It seems possible to get actual bargains on current gen laptops (ie AMD 4xxx) as you can get genuine 30% of new models sometimes, such as the neat lenovo s540 4800u 16G ram 500G hard drive with the nice high res screen for $1154, and that just never happens for good desktop parts.

It was never that price in reality. It was simply one of those fake Amazon listings by random sellers that never actually existed. I know because I took the chance and it was sent with a fake tracking number that was delivered to a completely different suburb and Amazon refunded straight away after that.

So can’t really use that price as a fair comparison.

        • Ahh good spot, from memory when I was watching it I recall it getting down to around 240 regularly, I was waiting for 200 haha should have bought one at 240.

This is not a bargain lol. $20 off msrp

  • Lots of places selling this for 319 (not delivered) so this is decent if youre set on getting this.

    • Yep like this, I think you can do click and collect though

I use to support AMD when they were underdogs but now with their ridiculous pricing accross products not anymore.

    • +1

Companies aren't your friends. You don't need to support them when the chips are down.

      • I know that but AMD offered better bang for buck before and I like to see healthy competition in the interest of consumers. Monopoly is bad for consumers in the long run.

AMD's prices are going up now and Intel's coming down and offering better bang for buck imo. For Example, i7-10700F was selling for $383 yesterday.

        • Well that's what Intel did when they were top dogs…

        • Supply vs. demand. When supplies are low and demand is high, you don't discount stuff. Also, you can't look at a CPU in a vacuum. Also need to factor in motherboard prices and AMD is usually a better value proposition there. A 3600 will run on 3, 4, 5 series MBs. So can install in an old MB. If installing on a 4 series, then can like upgrade to a Ryzen 5000 series CPU next year when BIOS updates come out or before if 5 series. Also assume decent resale value for something like a 3600 due to AMD's popularity, where as in the past resale would have been much worse than Intel.

  • meh still available means fail deal
