God damn. Help me gang. 1440P ultrawide, is the 5600X worth the rprice difference?

    • What GPU do you have?

      • (Aiming) for a 3080. New build.

        • +2

The 3600 is a good pairing with the 3080 for a 1440p ultrawide.

        • +7

Considering you'll be spending what $2k+ on your build, I think an extra $200 or 10% of your build cost would be worth going from a 3600 to a 5600X, a move that gets you about ~15% more FPS at 1440p

          • @[Deactivated]: I was thinking this, and there's a definite increase at 1440P, but this video showing benchmarks of 3440 x 1440 Ultrawide sealed the deal for me. Not a huge jump. Will look at possibly upgrading in a year or two.

          I'm running a RTX3080 w/ Ryzen 3600 for 4K and it burns.
You'll obviously eek out a few more frames with a 5600X, but for the price/performance 3600 is the sweet spot still.
For reference, Cyberpunk recently recommended RTX 3080 + Ryzen 3600 for 4K Ultra w/ RT turned on.

          • +3

@solidsnek: And if your mobo allows it, you can upgrade to the 5600x or even 5800x a year or two down the line. It's a win-win.

        • +1

I have the tech fast 3600 & 3080 build and love it. Good pairing!

    • +1

If you can afford, definitely. However we are talking $200 difference which makes me lean to this being bang for buck if you're strapped for cash

      • Cheers - ended up grabbing it. That's a decent amount of savings now going towards a 3080. Will look at upgrading when a proper 3700x successor appears.

    • +2

For a 3080 spend the extra on the 5600x. You will bottleneck in some games with the 3600.

    • You will experience some bottlenecking depending on the game at 1440p especially with a 3080. I'd go 5600X if you're willing to drop that money on a GPU. 3600 better suited to the mid range GPUs.

good find mate, keep it up!

  • +1

Thank you! ($15 delivery for QLD)

  • +1

Says Free Delivery for me but then adding $13 to final order? (VIC)

    • Yeah, same thing for me.

    • yeah, same for me

  • Anyone reckon it'll go any cheaper?

    • At this price it's king for value. It might go lower but not substantially

    • +2

It's been cheaper during the year. Not sure why people are acting like it's a good deal when it's black friday

      • +2

I reckon it's a good deal because with the anticipated launch of the new gen or ryzen CPU's everyone has realised that the 3600 is still king for price to performance. That's why it's not going on sale much lately.

        • for gaming id still say 10400f? Intel actually has value for i3 and i5 10th gen

          • @Jostur: 1660ti or rtx 2060 build trying to keep things cheap would you recommend Intel 10th gen?

            • @ChadHominem: Tbh for that only get a i3 10100f for gaming and a i5 10400f if u wanna game and wanna futureproof it for a few more gens. Ryzen 3 3100 may be better priced and have more features you'd like than the i3 10100f so its your decision. also get a 1660 super instead of 1660ti unless cheap and also consider a 5600 xt.

    • +2

i was hoping it would've gone down to $220 considering the launch of the new gen and black friday deals but losing hope as the day goes on

      • same thought here, believed the price of rtx3080/5600x/5800x/5900x would go down in one or two months after release….

  • Thanks OP, ordered one for pickup.

  • Just got one! Thanks OP

  • Good find OP.

  • +2

Finally.. a decent Ryzen CPU deal. Hasn't been around this price for a few months now

  • +1

    Perception check..roll 24 - great deal.
I think I play some games with the OP!

  • Anyone know if there's much advantage in getting the 5600x if I'm pairing this with a 3070?

  • Was thinking for months whether to build a new pc or not and this made me bite the bullet.
    Thanks Op.
Now to find a bargain motherboard and ram!

    • That's for the Ryzen 3300X

      • ahh didnt notice - oh well

    • +1

      That's for the 3300X

  • +2

Go on Amazon, price match this. I dare you!

  • Thanks OP - Grabbed one for pick up

  • Bought one for pick-up. I've been waiting a long time for this price to return. Many months. Great deal.

  • I have a 3600 with a 3080 playing at 3440x1400.

Was contemplating going up to a 5800x or 5900x. Is it worth it?

What about apps like photoshop etc?

    • stick with the 3600

  • Thanks OP, been waiting for a deal on this

  • thanks picked one up

  • ** All good ** Just our company proxy and stuff that why cannot checkout:(

    • +2

Worked fine for me just now, pickup South Melbourne. If you miss out I sorta feel like decent chance of as good as this or who knows even better deal before the end of monday, but yeah

  • Been hard to find any deals on Ryzen CPU's right now. Good find OP.

  • thanks so much for the find

  • The postage pushes it back to a price that I was hoping to get it lower for somewhere today…. torn…

    • +1

hope you got it. they had a bugged free shipping promo that they're gonna fix.

      • +1

Yeah I passed because of shipping… that sucks. Glad others will get their shipping repaid though! Great price!

  • You can risk buying it from ebay if you have discounted ebay gift cards and see if ebay will do a price beat.

    • Good luck…2 agents I tried are absolutely clueless.

  • 286 delivered, can't really go wrong. Good enough. Thanks OP!

  • I am in Victoria and they still want to charge me 13 dollars delivery even with the free shipping box ticked

  • I was looking for one on Monday and cheapest I could find was $319 then, good find

  • +1

Was going to wait until Cyber Monday, but I'm sick of waiting for PC parts. Bought one, hopefully it arrives before my Dell monitor from last week :)

  • +1

Shit. I opened this up and forgot about it for 15 minutes, came back, go to the final page of checkout and the price had gone back up - went back to the product page and it was sold out. That's what I get for not jumping on it sooner!

    • Same. I'm devastated now :(

      • +2

Just a shame it hasn't been to sub-270 for a while as that's my trigger price. Hopefully again soon! :)

  • +2

Had this in the cart and refreshed and it returned to RRP because I was an idiot and wasted too much time worrying about the shipping price. Don't be like me. Deal's over.

  • +3

deal over, 319 when try to add to the cart :(

  • ' if your in Victoria'
    lol

  • This sucks, out of stock while I am creating an account

  • Argggh - spent too much time trying to pick a M/B ……! (Was trying to decide between the Gigabyte B550M DS3H and Gaming ….. )

  • I read that Hitman 3 will be optimised for CPUs with 8 cores.

Will this be a growing trend and perhaps may be wise to not limit oneself to a 6-core CPU?

    • Well it has 12 threads, so that's more than 8?

      • But only 6 cores

  • +1

Just a heads up guys, standard shipping should be free for this.

I was charged $12 so I contacted them and they’re going to refund me the amount, so just make sure you hit them up if you were also charged.

    • +4

no need to hit them up.
They posted saying they had a bugged free shipping promo, they'll refund us.

      • Arrrrgghhh, I shouldn't have wasted so much time refreshing the page wondering what the hell was up with the shipping and then missed the deal :(

  • +3

    I reckon with the following:

    • 3% Suncorp Benefits Gift Card @ Amazon AU
    • $10 CashRewards back for purchase
    • Uplifted CashRewards cashback for 5% from CashRewards for Amazon AU

I can get this for the same price as $269 + delivery to QLD with the current Amazon AU price.

Now if Amazon could throw a bloke a bone and drop their price a bit….

    • Can you use CashRewards when you purchase with an amazon gift card? I thought I read in their T&C's that you can't.

      • +1

You can't BUY Amazon Gift Cards and get Cashback but you can use to Gift Cards to pay for an item and get Cashback.

        From:
        https://www.cashrewards.com.au/amazon-australia

        • +1

          Thank you for that info!

  • Yeee was able to pick one up, pickup from store in Auburn NSW.
    TY

    • They have free shipping for over $200
Might be able to save yourself the trip if you email them

  • +1

    Noooo i'm too late

  • Well that was quick!

    • All 300 went in under an hour. Must be from all that pent-up demand.. no stock of anything decent, sub $300 in the past 6 months e.g. 1600 AF, 3300X and 3600

Have been waiting for the 3300X to come back in stock for around $190 but bit the bullet on this as it doesn't seem like the situation is going to get any better. Can always sell it and upgrade next year when things are a little less crazy hopefully.

      • @OSienna I might buy it off you cheap next year then :P Coming from first gen Ryzen I can't go to 5000 series parts as they've dead ended my motherboard.

I'm not buying another AM4 motherboard for one generation, they can get stuffed on that.

  • I went to look at the price on an 3600X/XT/3700 and ended up missing out.

Guess I'll try again on Cyber f&(g Monday :(

  • +1

People who missed this, Amazon AU have slightly dropped price on it twice today already, $312 atm free delivery with Prime, but with this deal later today https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/585945 (stacking both the Shopback cashback plus paying with Zip Pay for their 10% on top) it'd bring it to like 245, if I'm doing maths right? hah

  • Pulling trigger on this motherboard as well
X470 msi gaming plus max - $149 (cheapest was $139 centercom)

Ordered this item just this morning, Total checkout say 269 but was billed 319 on CC. Careful guys.

    • Did you have that sorted yet?
I had the same happen to me and it does seem impossible to contact them these days…

  • Has anyone else not been able to collect their pickup order still (at South Melbourne store or otherwise, I guess)? I tried to pick up mine on Tuesday, tried calling first but no answer n hangs up after five mins, to be fair website does say high volume of calls atm and obviously with these sales even greater, but so I just went in cos not far away and was asked if I'd received a collect email and I said no, wasn't sure if I was supposed to wait for one, and he said 'well that's not a good sign but let's have a look', unfortunately couldn't give it to me cos either in an unloaded pallet they had there or in transit - but said probably by that arvo or by wed arvo at the latest. All day yesterday, no email - when I didn't get that I tried calling them again, and again they don't answer on any number (even sales!), so I said screw it and went in there again since he'd told me he was confident he'd have one to give me by then, nope, just got the same spiel about how it's probly in one of the pallets right there but he can't give me one. This time was more reticent to even give a timeframe although when pushed said 'probably' for today - nope; it's now half n hour from closing again and still nothing. This is pretty ridiculous right? they said in stock when I ordered, the website says 1-2 hrs usually to be able to collect. And I know they're swamped under and Black Friday was crazy, and they're nice enough about it, but come on, how long am I gonna wait? The person I spoke to did say they monitor the msgs left through online 'chat', so maybe I should send smth now before closing time. What even, though? Trying to be patient but I've been patient all year waiting for deals on parts and now I have everything for my build but the cpu - even a goddamn 3070! :/

  • Has anyone received this yet?
Mine initially showed as "Received by AUS Post" over a week ago, but no update since then.
It seems impossible to actually get in touch with Scorptec at the moment.

Also never got issued with the refund for the shipping as was promised on the Facebook page.
