Wow, but only for 1 hr ??

@Cashrewards Common my friend, match this please <3

    • Why, shopback is doing just fine https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/568593

      • +1

So data breaches are a frequent thing in Shopback now. Seriously considering to delete my account.

        • +7

It was the one leak. It's just an update on the situation (albeit an important one).

        • -2

Well, there was one, and they went silent after that. That is not how you treat customers. While I don't expect them to say we changed security code etc. etc., I do expect them to tell us what they did, in general. Yet, just silence.

        • plus, Shopback did let us know that the hackers were not using the data for nefarious purposes so we shouldn't worry

      • +2

Wait… This is the original or breach #2?

Gearbest app breach was the worst… Had people login into my unimportant accounts all over the shop.

This breach I did t feel anything… Yet
If their deals are better, I'll be keep using them. If Cashback rewards matches, I'll be using Cashback rewards… Easy

        • +2

It was the original breach, this guy just likes to beat up a dead horse for some reason.

          • -1

@highdealer: If you went to a company for a faulty device and then they gave it back to you without saying anything, how happy would you be to beat a dead horse? And on top of it they were giving glowing reviews to themselves on the review site.

            • @bargainparker: Hate to say it but welcome to the 21st century. Nothing is secure it just depends if anyone really wants to get your data. Also every company treats their customers like trash some are just better at hiding it than others.

              • @Pufff: Well aware of it. Even government departments had breaches. The difference is how they treat customers after that. And it is obvious from positive votes, customers don't care. All they said was, we got hacked, get on with it.

                • @bargainparker: In a perfect world we shouldn't even use cash back sites. Where do you think they money is coming from and who ultimately pays for it?

                  • @Pufff: You, the customer. Companies never give anything for free. They are there to make money and while sometimes you can get something for "free", that is all included in price, now or later.

                    • @bargainparker: lol there you go. Paying a lot then getting change back after 6 months isn't really saving but people still think it is.

      • +6

Shopback: Several hours ago, we became aware that a party has made available online our customers’ data, which was taken during the unauthorised access to our systems back in September.

Is it possible to get cashback on the purchase of buying shopback customer data off the darkweb?

      • Why can’t we talk about Gladys Covid Breaches more then.

        • Who's stopping you?

          • @bargainparker: Murdoch papers seem to give zero regards to the SA outbreak/LNP failings. If only someone there confused Gladys with a Labor minister… Also this is super off topic here and usually gets removed.

            • @ATangk: Just like for many other things, and people just get on with their life as if everything is, it's just another day.

You don't have to talk about it here. Plenty of forums around, whirlpool being the biggest.

Where was this when I ordered my air pods pro!

    • Yeah, I just pulled the trigger on a few black friday deals this morning.

      This is the way.

  • Beat me to it :p

  • -2

    Amazon gonna get smashed

    • +4

      Not a chance.

  • +1

Also does that mean that 12% of GC as well? :O

    • How ?

      • +1

No im asking if GC would be eligible lol.

      • +1

        Buy gift card on amazon

    • +1

      nope. GCs are excluded

      • I can't find GC excluded anywhere?

  • +3

Might seem like a dumb question, but does this apply for categories that are normally 0% cashback?

    • +1

All categories should including those as well

  • Now that’s what I’m talking about!

      • +1

        U alive?

        • Still alive. Those negs almost crushed me, but it's all fine now, can afford more negs👍

      • The one man army. Give em hell cobber.

        • I don't care either way. Seeing in what state this world is, it doesn't surprise me. Nothing can be done about what happened, but lack of communication would at least get me worried. But, each to their own.

  • Let's see what deal will left by that time.

  • Very nice deal.

  • +18

Let's see Cashrewards respond. Don't trust Shopback.

    • +2

Agree. More of a Cashrewards guy but if they do not respond, may have to use Shopback.

  • Is there an easy way to get discounted amazon gift cards?

i can see 3% with entertainment book.

    • Use zip to get 10% better than most Amazon gift card. If you are buying less than $500

    • You can get them through Macquarie Bank if you bank with them. All year round and don't think there's a $ limit.

    • Suncorp/AAMI

  • The minute cashrewards copy, I'm smashing Amazon like crazy with orders

  • stacks with zip 10%?

    • nevermind, post edited! thanks!

I setup a VM to exclusively to purchase through Shopback on Amazon in order to make sure nothing else could be affecting it … but even then, I've had 8 of 9 recent transactions not track (following the steps to the letter and purchasing from the right categories e.g. Echo Studio which is an 'Amazon Devices' category).

The only transaction that tracked was a $3.59 transaction, the big ones e.g. $410 did not track.

Decided to only purchase through Cashrewards for Amazon, since at least they dip into their pockets to pay out if it doesn't track out of goodwill.

    • I always use the app and have never had anything not track. Do it for both CR and SB, otherwise I occasionally run into issues.

    • Never had anything not track with shopback. Probably about 1k cashback to-date.

Probably you using VMs to purchase actually is a level of obfuscation which prevents effective tracking.

Tips: Use Chrome, new windows, empty cart, on desktop, and follow the purchase process end to end after clicking through (i.e. don't do something else, like open a bunch of different tabs etc and then come back to it)

  • +1

Any info about the zip 10% ?

  • +4

Sorry Shopback, after that poorly handled data breach, you could throw up a 50% or whatever CB, I still won't be coming back.

    • +1

If they bothered to at least communicate with customers I'd probably stay, but no. Yet, nothing to worry about, plenty of sheep to shear. In 10 minutes already 90 votes.

      • They did communicate. There was an mass email out right the breach. Otherwise there would have been a lot more outrage on OzB.

        • +1

Saying there was a breach and telling customers what measures they took are two different things.

          • +1

@bargainparker: Oh I'm all for shooting dead all hackers and scammers. But realistically what do we expect them to do? They would have definately informed the cops. But no Australian government agency would care about this sort of thing. And the hackers are probably from Singapore or something. Nothing would have been done.

            • @fuzor: What I am saying is, they didn't tell customers what measures they took to make it secure. It doesn't matter where hackers are from. What matters is they just said, we got hacked, and silence. I don't expect them to go in details, but they absolutely ignored everything and went on as if nothing ever happened. Except giving themselves glowing reviews on the productreview site.

Always leave your shopping last minute

  • thanks. just cancelled my oculus quest 2 order to wait for this.

    • Did you use zip for that transaction?

      • yup

        • Wonder if we can re order and still be legible for the zip deal

          • +1

@illz: by the time I cancelled my orer, the transaction hasn't been reflected on my zip account just yet

  • time to get iphone 12 lol

    • +1

      Amazon doesn’t have iphone 12

      • saw couple individual sellers

  • Does this include items shipped and sold by Amazon US through the AU store?

    • -2

      dont think so

    • +2

      Yes

  • Would products purchased from Amazon UK or US qualify?

    • In the past all purchase I made from AmazonAU that come from Amazon UK/US got rejected cashback from shopback :(

      • Damn! Thanks for the heads up as I have a few items in my wish list from Amazon UK.

        • Use zippay 10% cash back if you purchasing from there.
I remember purchased graphic card during 10% AmazonAU cashback but the item was fulfilled by AmazonUK.
Lost around $30+ cashback on that transaction which overall the same price if I buy it from AU retailer.

      • +1

I had a few get declined but I hit up Shopback and they added to me (redeemable) instantly

    • Well, last time when I purchased some stuff from Amazon US. It is approved.

  • I wonder if it stack with zip 10% cashback offer currently running at the moment?
If it doesn't, the different only 2% for 1-2 months waiting time to be able cash out vs 3-5 days zip cashback.

    • Eager to know this too before canceling my order and reorder.

  • +2

Can you use amazon gift cards to pay? Would the cashback still work? I used the zip pay on the gift cards already :(

    • Yes

  • Their Ryzen 5 5600x has just gone up to $505, wonder if it's purely a price jack or stock retaining for lightening deal??

    • Look under it for the one sold by Amazon Australia., still same price

      • Does 12% cashback still apply if purchasing the out of stock 5600x during the promo period?

        • Would also like to know this

          • @WhyAmICommenting: I suspect it doesn't since Amazon won't process payment until the OOS item is actually shipped, hence its technically not a purchase to Shopback.
But, if you stack the ZipPay 10% off GC w/ 12% Shopback, even purchasing the $505 5600x from the retailer that is currently in stock you effectively end up paying $394.4 which I think is pretty good.
If Amazon AU's 5600x were in stock it'd be ~$373.28, so a difference of about $20.

Edit: Would be good to get some clarification though!..

            • @DZA5TA: Hmmm, still $400. I think the Ryzen 5 3600 will be enough for me ($319)

Hoping for close to $250 if Zip pay and 12% from ShopBack. Should work?

            • @DZA5TA: I can confirm my OOS order of the Amazon sold 5600x was tracked. $52.47 is currently pending!

              • @Stanvx: Bummer, I bought the Amazon one initially but then cancelled and went with the 3rd party retailer to be safe.
I was concerned about how long Amazon 5600x might take to restock, but noticed its arleady back in stock now. Did you receive a shipping date?
Edit: actually my bad, the one I saw isn't Amazon stock

                • @DZA5TA: Nah no stock yet, waiting on an ETA, hopefully within the next 2 weeks.

      • +2

The one sold by them was at $505 at the time of comment, now is OOS. Seems like tomfoolery to me

  • Hope amazon get their system set up properly this time. Last time they had cash back across the board I still had stuff that showed up as rejected
