Exetel nbn FTTP or HFC 500/50: $100 Cashback (for New Exetel Customers) @ TopCashback AU

1780

Perfect to stack with this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/913142

What will stop me getting my cashback

Cashback is eligible on NBN plans only (all other products or services are ineligible), and for new Exetel customers only.
A new Exetel customer is defined as someone that is no longer an Exetel customer and has no active service with them.
You must remain an Exetel customer for at least 90 days after placing your NBN order to be eligible for cashback.

  • Orders must be completed wholly online, and not negotiated via phone/chat etc.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of gift cards for payment and/or purchase of gift cards.
  • Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

What else is essential

  • Engaging with plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, VPNs, and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking.
  • You must always return to TopCashback and click the pink cashback button through to the retailer's website for each new transaction. Ensure the TopCashback link is the last one used to visit the retailer's website prior to completing your purchase.
  • Any accounts that engage in fraudulent orders/activities to game/cheat the cashback system will be banned and cashback forfeited.

Good to know

  • Most retailers calculate cashback based on purchase amount excluding GST, other taxes, and delivery fees. Your cashback may report lower than expected due to this.
  • If an order is cancelled / returned / exchanged / modified, it will no longer be eligible for cashback and will be declined in your account.
  • To be eligible for cashback, all transactions must be completed solely & wholly online and must not be assisted/negotiated via phone/chat/email. Failure to do so will cause tracking to fail and/or have cashback declined.

Thanks for posting this simplerick. For those unaware, we pulled Exetel cashback yesterday as we noticed new sales were not tracking after Exetel switched to a single plan and updated their website. Seems whatever changes they made broke tracking. We flagged this with them right away and they've now made the necessary adjustments and corrected the issue. Any untracked claims for orders made via TopCashback in the 12 hours up to noon AEST yesterday (01/07/2025) will be honoured by Exetel. Thanks for your understanding.

    • -2

If i could upvote this twice i would!

    • Do we need to raise a case for orders before noon?

      • +1

Yes please via this link 👍

        • Thank you. Raised.

        • Thanks TA. Got an automated email with the below. Assuming loop back on the 9th?

Thanks for lodging your missing cashback claim for Exetel.
Your claim has temporarily been put 'On Ice' until we're sure your transaction won't track on it's own. Once this time has passed we'll be able to submit your claim to the merchant's network for you.
On Ice. We will automatically submit this to the merchant after 08 Jul 25

ShopBack could learn a thing or 2. Will sign up based on this comment

      • +3

lol yes shopback still owns me $350 for tracking issue with optus nbn..while other lucky ones who auto tracked already got paid out

      • +1

Meanwhile Cashrewards still copy pasting T&Cs for new deals and not updating details

        • +2

CR customer service has down to drain after TA departure….got several untracked and denied large amount as well.

          • @ggfatty: I permanently left CR a few years ago after a fight for a promised and unpaid cashback. Good to know I am not alone.

    • @tightarse when will this offer end?

      • +3

Hi. There is no end date at this stage from our perspective, however please note that Exetel can change or pull the cashback promo at any time. This is obviously something we have no control over. Cheers.

    • +1

Seems to have been fixed. Just ordered and within 5 minutes, I’m with Exetel with $100 pending in TopCashBack. Cheers

    • It is mentioned that have to be on plan for minimum 90 days. How long will it take for my cashback to be payable? and lets say if I opt out after 90 days from exetel, I woul dbe eligible for cashback right

      • I'd like to know as well. Anyone know if leave before it's payed but stayed for the minimum 90 days, if we would still be paid the cashback?

    • the webpage after clicking through TCB app on iphone does not load, tried so many times already. other sites worked.

Will this plan be one that gets the free upgrade to 1000/100 in september?

    • +9

No, 500/50 is the new speed tier. Other providers that sell 1000/50 will change to 1000/100.

Old Speed Tiers New Speed Tiers nbn Technology Type
      100/20 500/50 FTTP and HFC
      250/25 750/50 FTTP and HFC
      1000/50 1000/100 FTTP and HFC
      2000/100 HFC
      2000/200 FTTP
      2000/500 FTTP
      • I'm on 100/40 at the moment. Will my plan get upgraded?
        Thanks

        • +1

I think you get grouped with 100/20 and get upgraded to 500/50

          • +2

@TheFreaK: I was talking to Exetel cancellations yesterday, and they advised me the 100/* will be upgraded in September.
There are a number of issues with their new structure. Anyone already on a plan can no longer change that plan, other than going to the new One Plan.
The new One Plan does not offer VOIP. If you have a VOIP you’ll lose it.
The fact sheet on the new plan says it includes VOIP, the FAQs say no VOIP. From what they said, you can expect to see the Fact sheet changed asap.
That’s a no deal for me as I’ve had my old landline number for 45yrs.
Which made Leaptel look a better deal for me. Credit to Exetel they did what cancellation departments do and came up with a solution for my particular needs that I’m happy with.

            • +1

@bbinc: Churn to a third party provider such as crazytel. That way you can switch providers without worrying about that.

              • @brisdaz: Thanks Brisdaz ! Checking it out. The VOIP has been a bit like handcuffs

        • +4

nbn is not changing 100/40. Exetel is moving those on FTTP and HFC 100/20 to 500/50 and 100/40 to 500/50. It remains to be seen what other providers do with 100/40 on FTTP and HFC.

      • Damm I thought I read before that 1000/50 was going to 1000/250

A bit crap other plans are getting are a higher download speed but people already on 1000 are only getting a bump in upload speed

        • 1000/250 was never mentioned. 500/200 and 1000/400 FTTP is still available.

        • Double the upload speed is nothing to sneeze at though - still a worthwhile boost if you constantly have things uploading/backing up to the cloud.

          Personally, I'm eyeing the 2000/200 plan…

      • So we now got charged $80 for the original NBN100. The news about free upgrade was untrue sort of.

        • nbn is doing a free wholesale upgrade to 500/50, 750/50 and 1000/100. Some providers have confirmed no change to your monthly cost.

nbn wholesale costs go up and down every new financial year and that is separate to the speed changes. If the speed stayed at 100/20 the monthly cost was still going up.

          • @Twix: I believe the rest will increase soon based on comments. It's just a matter of time and the way providers do things differently. Eventually they want our average speed to catch up with other countries, while they also want to charge more. Some low-usage people I know up to day are with nbn25 and nbn50 still and they don't want to pay extra.

Dont you think nbn takes this speed change opportunity to up the price? I don't think people would be happy to pay $80/m for nbn100.

            • @bcYield: nbn wholesale costs went up by $1.31/m for 100/20 and $1.71/m for 250/25 and 1000/50 July 1.

Most providers put up the cost of 100/20 by $5-$10/m July 1. Some providers 250/25 and 1000/50 went down in cost or didn't change.

There are no changes to the nbn wholesale pricing of these speed tiers arising from the speed increases. Independent to the speed increases initiative, nbn’s prices will continue to be reviewed annually in accordance with the Special Access Undertaking (SAU) price controls (which are linked to CPI) with indicative prices for FY26 and FY27 set out in the current three-year SAU Pricing Roadmap published on nbn’s website.

              • @Twix: Under $2 increased cost by nbn wholesale is fair, but up to $10 increased cost by providers is a rip off.

Anyways, they will have new set price for each speed and providers like Exetel give $100 cashback for us to adopt the new price. Maybe take it or not get it as time goes.

  • says 100% cashback not 100$

  • +2

$100 or 100% cashback? TCB showing 100%. Keen to sign up to lifetime contract.

    • +2

Ye, small typo lol. Should cache to $100 shortly.

      • +5

But I already signed up and took screenshots at 100%

        • +8

In that case you'll get $80 (first month). Your choice :)

  • Thanks for pointing this out everyone! TA should have it resolved shortly!

  • +1

Am I eligible if I had previously been with Exetel? It says new customers only but then defines it as no longer with Exetel or has a active service

    • Would like to know too, I was automatically switched to superloop when they took over Exetel.

  • can I set a connection date 6 months later? after superloop deal ends

    • Same boat here, but I think that is asking too much….

      • same boat… don't need to wait for 6 months though… 4 months should do

        • +2

I used their chatbot ai and they don’t allow for future date connections unfortunately it says

          • @danny1213: awww. thanks for checking

            • @Brakus: I know sucks, I’m also in the same boat of wanting a future date lol

    • +2

No option to set connection date. Instant only. Or it was when I switched, but I was ready to do so anyway.

      • Yes how long do we think this cash back will last? I’ll need 30 days

  • +10

Just be aware, There is no option to opt out of CGNAT.

    • +4

damn that's a dealbreaker for me

    • What's that?

      • +3

If you gotta ask it won't effect you

    • +1

Is this a new rule? I was able to opt out previously.

      • Introduced when they went to One Plan

    • +1

Yeah noticed that in the recent deal post for the 500/50 plan - total deal breaker for me

      • +2

Other providers will have 500/50 in September and the option to turn off CG-NAT.

        • +2

Yep - I was thinking of going with Leaptel

          • -2

@Remorhaz: leaptel is a slow piggy of superloop network using GSL.

GSL use to be good until it wasn't

    • Ohhhh this is lame.. Was thinking this was a good deal… I'm 85 atm with Superloop (discounted) 250/25 and had to opt out of CGNAT when we moved houses - had a static IP previously but decided not to bother this time for now.

Can def cause some issues with online gaming so it's a nono for meeeee

      • Oooft - whats the issue with online gaming?

I thought the only impacts was running servers, iplex, IP cameras etc?

        • +1

Occasionally can cause latency/jitter issues, but probably more importantly, can interfere with some co-op games where you're hosting or something some people may have issues joining you (kinda similar reasoning to why servers/IP cameras may have issues too, port forwarding stuff, etc. Superloop actually have a decent article on it https://www.superloop.com/blog/understanding-cgnat-and-what-…)

          • +1

@ReaperX22: Thanks for that link. I used to have no worries with Exetel 50/20, but lately have had latency issues, dropouts, lag, speed drops etc. Perhaps that’s CGNAT

        • You can't host online P2P games with CG-NAT on.

You can host online P2P games if your provider allows you to turn off CG-NAT

          • @Twix: Bugger, I occasionally play P2P and I've already signed up.

I was so excited for 500/50

            • +1

@Suspect420: Stay with Exetel if you can hold off playing P2P games for a couple months. If not get a refund and swap provider again.

Other providers will have 500/50 in September and the option to turn off CG-NAT.

    • why is the cg-nat such a big dealbreaker for everyone?

I have slowly been expanding my technical needs with a homelab, home assistant (cloudflare tunnel etc) and unless I want to start hosting gaming servers etc I don't think CG-NAT will impact me too much (am I missing something big here)?

      • NBA League pass didnt work for me on CGNat

        • what… whys this? Isn't it just streaming through the app?

      • +2

See my post above with the link from Superloop, but for just straight local home server stuff it likely won't matter - it MAY affect you trying to access your own stuff remotely using cloudflare/tunnels/nginx reverse proxy stuff etc though.

I think your use case is precisely the use-case that WILL have issues especially if you want to host game servers

      • I run WireGuard VPN on my Unifi to allow things like my travel router to VPN and bounce off the front so clients appear to be "at home" when desired, or to have a connect on demand VPN for a specific dest (e.g. HA) when not at home

      • If you're using Cloudflare Tunnels and plan to continue doing that - you will be fine.

But CF Tunnels have some limitations around the data that can be transferred iirc.

    • i remember last time I had to opt out but couldn't remember why. I think some sites I was getting cloudflare banned?

    • Hey guys got news on this, and maybe @tightarse can confirm as well?.

I'm currently with Exetel on a 100/20 plan and a static ipv4 ($90/month). I called to cancel my service and they offered a $10 discount per month, static IP and will be upgraded to 500/50 from mid September but still keeping a static ip from September onward. My understanding was that this was not possible, but apparently, if you are an existing customer you might receive this offer if you call them to cancel the service.
So I won't be on the new One plan, but a custom plan with the same speed but static ip and same conditions (30 days notice to cancellation)

      YMMV

  • Stuck with Exetel Opticomm

  • +1

I signed up for superloop through topcashback in February. It's been six months now, but the cashback is still not showing as payable.

    • -1

      Same problem here.

      • -1

So 6 months and still no resolution.

Sounds like there's a good chance if they're not honouring previous commitments, what means it won't happen to us also.

        Risky deal.

        • +4

I believe you’ve misinterpreted the comments above. The orders were tracked and have an estimated payable timeframe of 22-23 weeks. We have no control over this timeframe but they’re still well within the estimate.

Having said that, all February tracked orders for both Exetel & Superloop were approved to our members a few hours ago, so I’m a little perplexed by your comment as it appears to be pure speculation. Anyway, hope this helps alleviate any concerns.

          • @tightarse: I can confirm that my cashback from January is now payable. Took five months.

          • +2

@tightarse: @sunyuanxin @Stahh Cashback has been paid today. You signed up in Feb and it's 2nd July today. It's about 4-5 months (depending on Feb date) and within the estimated payable time, not 6 months that you mentioned.

My Exetel purchase on 29th Nov 2024 was paid on 4th April 2025. Exetel (and Superloop) take a bit longer to pay than other retailers.

@movieman This is an awesome offer.

TopCashback is the most reliable cashback site with the rep tightarse who cares and provides the best service. tightarse used to work at Cashrewards. Hence it's not a risky deal.

Not sure if you are familiar with the cashback sites. I've used cashback with the 3 companies in the last few years.

I would rate TopCashback > ShopBack > Cashrewards. Unfortunately Cashrewards has gone downhill since tightarse left.

            • @trixieb: Edit: Exetel purchase on 29th Nov was paid on 25th March, not 4th April.

          • @tightarse: Fair enough.

If it's currently within the agreed timeframe, I understand. Negative vote revoked.

          • @tightarse: I just checked my TopCashback account and saw that the Superloop cashback has become payable. Thank you!

          • @tightarse: It is mentioned that have to be on plan for minimum 90 days. How long will it take for my cashback to be payable? and lets say if I opt out after 90 days from exetel, I woul dbe eligible for cashback right

          • +1

@tightarse: Hi Tightarse, just jumped on this deal.Within maximum 5 minutes was up and running on this plan.No BS…after completing online application I lost my internet connection within 2 minutes, then regained connection.Completed speed test 520/45….within 15 minutes "Good news! Your order has been tracked ". Previously with Leaptel $80 per month 100/20,they could not match speed at this price until September …thanks for the excellent deal mate.

      • Can you confirm if your cashback has been payable now?

  • +1

@tightarse any deal for Opticomm connections?

  • +2

My cashback from April didn’t track, raised issue and now it’s under review with retailer. TCB also conviniently rejected some portion cashback from amazon and hence $5 promo (as it didn’t hit the threshold), never using it again. Never had such problems before with CR and SB.

    • Agreed me too.

    • +2

      Had similar issue with SB
And asks for multiple screenshots and what not all the time

  • +1

time to switch back to Exetel

  • +2

It's saying you can't activate in the future when you sign up online. So weird.

  • Signed up to another deal didnt track put in claim and nothing.. i wouldnt use TCB…. never had a problem with other cashback sites.

    • Placed an order and instantly tracked. Never had issues with TCB.

  • Just waiting for them to offer a static IP with this deal!

    • Keep waiting, can't even get out of CG-NAT lol

        • Can you send a screenshot showing this tab in your Exetel web portal?
