Exetel nbn FTTP or HFC 500/50: $100 Cashback (for New Exetel Customers) @ TopCashback AU

1550

Perfect to stack with this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/913142

What will stop me getting my cashback

Cashback is eligible on NBN plans only (all other products or services are ineligible), and for new Exetel customers only.
A new Exetel customer is defined as someone that is no longer an Exetel customer and has no active service with them.
You must remain an Exetel customer for at least 90 days after placing your NBN order to be eligible for cashback.

  • Orders must be completed wholly online, and not negotiated via phone/chat etc.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of any codes not approved and posted by TopCashback.
  • Cashback is ineligible on use of gift cards for payment and/or purchase of gift cards.
  • Cashback is ineligible on purchases made via the retailer's mobile app.

What else is essential

  • Engaging with plugins such as Honey, AdBlock, uBlock, Pi-hole, VPNs, and browsers such as Brave may prevent your order from tracking.
  • You must always return to TopCashback and click the pink cashback button through to the retailer's website for each new transaction. Ensure the TopCashback link is the last one used to visit the retailer's website prior to completing your purchase.
  • Any accounts that engage in fraudulent orders/activities to game/cheat the cashback system will be banned and cashback forfeited.

Good to know

  • Most retailers calculate cashback based on purchase amount excluding GST, other taxes, and delivery fees. Your cashback may report lower than expected due to this.
  • If an order is cancelled / returned / exchanged / modified, it will no longer be eligible for cashback and will be declined in your account.
  • To be eligible for cashback, all transactions must be completed solely & wholly online and must not be assisted/negotiated via phone/chat/email. Failure to do so will cause tracking to fail and/or have cashback declined.

    • yeah if they offered static IP for $5/month I would bite

      • Buddy did after a few months.
Maybe Exetel will as well after they settle in

        • yeah hopefully the economics work out in that favour

  • +3

how long will this deal last? or can i put in a future start date?

    • Exetel doesn’t allow future dates in the signup at the moment.

    • How long? I’d be keen if it was even in a few weeks

  • +3

    Forced cgnat.
    They can keep it.

  • +3

Does using a referal code affect cashback?

    • +1

      Also interested to know this.

    • referral code gets you $1 off a month, not worth the risk just do the cashback

  • If I only have a mobile or VoIP service with them, will that stop me being considered a "new customer"?

  • How long to get connected after signing up? I need to time ending my current plan since I cannot set a date.
Will cashback still be available end of month?

  • Cant seem to sign up without cancelling my current plan, which is taking a while to terminate

  • +1

Deal breaker without static IP or CGNAT opt out option.

  • Does anyone manage to have the connection at future dates? I just cancelled my superloop therefore won't be another 30 days before I will join exetel.

    • In the same spot as you - used their online chat and was told there's no way

  • I've been waiting close to 4 months now for Exetel to pay my cashback with TCB. Just worth noting.

  • i just changed to Exetel yesterday!! crap!

    • you can sign up with this plan as a new customer

  • +2

Customers are able to nominate a later connection date

How? There doesn't appear to be a way to pick a date on the order form.

    • Also interested in this question
Currently on super loop so would need to co-ordinate 30 day notice for transfer across

      • +1

Some OzBargainers in the Exetel comments said Superloop waived the 30 days notice.

  • Can someone who has signed up recently confirm that you can opt out of cgnat through the web portal (not app)? Conflicting reports in here.

    • +7

      You can not.
      Signed up yesterday.
      Portal - no access
      App - no option
Chat - no can’t opt out
Phone - no can’t opt out.

    • +3

Just one dude spewing that you can

      • Can't opt out of CG-NAT is written in the Critical Information Summary.

There is no option to opt out of CGNAT

        and

A Static IP address is not available with these Exetel services.

    • Definitely CANNOT opt out of CGNAT on this 500/50 plan

    • Damn. Such a good deal all around but such a deal breaker. Wonder why they can't do it anymore.

      • They can. By referring you to Superloop whose plans are different and a few bucks more. That’s they told me to do if I wanted VOIP.

  • +1

can i cancel my existing topback switch to exetel - Yet to kick in tomorrow and sign up to this instead?

Oh so many questions with this 500/50 plan, so few answers!

  • I am still waiting for cashback from exetel from the order made in Feb.

  • I can't try this as not supporting opt out CGNAT though this offer is great

  • +3

@tightarse any chance you can confirm if referral codes invalidate cashback?

  • +1

I just switched, cashback tracked immediately and internet switched immediately as well. However my speed test is giving me 50/20 speed readings, vs the 500/50 advertised…… So far uninspired

    • maybe your internet didn't switch immediately ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      • Sure has, was on 100/20 and that was higher

        • +1

Just to update, took a few hours for the speed to kick in, now testing aok at 509 download, 54up

  • +3

I must’ve missed the Superloop's TopCashback post. Now that I’ve seen Exetel no longer offers CGNAT opt-outs, the $85/month 1000/50 plan with $105 cashback seems like the more sensible choice for me.

  • Excetel are a dogshit company who takes no ownership until you include the ombudsman.

  • +1

How long can I expect this deal to be available for? I'm with Leaptel and need to cancel towards the end of the month.

  • can i activate the service later, may be in next 30 day?

  • It took 5 minutes to swap over from More to Exetel Speed Test: 521/47.9Mbps. Hopefully will stay at the speed :)

  • +2

Word of caution for Future Activation.

There was no option online to select a future date for activation. As my current ISP has 30 day notice period for cancellation, my plan was to submit order today but activate this by month end.

Topcashback T&C says "Customers are able to nominate a later connection date and receive cashback provided you remain a customer for at least 90 days after placing your NBN order." So I assumed its possible but my mistake was I didn't check with Exetel before placing the order.

So I submitted an order on Exetel website and immediately called to let them know that I need activation on a future date. While I was on hold, my service got activated. CS said there is no option at all in Exetel for future activation. CS on phone said 30 days will be charged $80 (full month) even if I am cancelling within 5 minutes of activation. Ended up paying two ISPs for this overlapping month. Will not stick to this provider for long. Not happy with this customer service.

    • +1

      No refund?
Call and try again. Say you wanted CGNAT off as per the original CIS but it could not be turned off. So you want out due to not meeting terms of CIS.

      • Thanks for highlighting that mate. I checked the CIS and it says " CARRIER GRADE NETWORK ADDRESS
        TRANSLATION (CGNAT)
Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation is a method of
sharing a single unique public Internet Protocol (IP) address
with multiple customer internet services. This allows internet
providers to extend their pool of remaining Internet Protocol
Version 4 (IPv4) addresses. There is no option to opt out of
        CGNAT."

        Can I still try ?

        • The old CIS from yesterday said you could opt out ;)
          They fixed the new one.

        • +2

I think you should still try. Just say you made the purchase based on the old CIS.

          My process for refunding

          • contact web chat and ask to opt out of CGNAT per the CIS.

          • When they say no, upload the CIS pdf and screenshots that state:

"Where CGNAT is available, your IP address will default to using CGNAT, unless you specifically request to opt out of CGNAT, which may be approved by Exetel in its discretion. When opting out of CGNAT, a dynamic public IP address will be assigned to the service."

Link to old CIS (pdf viewer) expiring in 24 hours: https://jmp.sh/s/A5hqFlH64jZkQ3V4w7be
Link to old CIS (sus looking file download) expiring in 7 hours: https://filebin.net/9j7gvjxeqxxhmu38

          • They might ask why you need to opt out, I said my security camera system no longer works

          Good luck!!

    • +1

Try option 4, Cancel my service. These are the best trained staff in my experience, with faster access to decision makers for one off fixes. And fewer/no scripts.Their job is to retain you if they can.

  • +1

Damn, my new billing cycle with Spintel just started. Do we have any idea when this offer will run till?

  • How do you nominate a later connection date? My current connection ends on 27th July and the connection got set up instantly :(

    • Exetel one plan cannot be scheduled.

    • In the same boat. Shared my experience above. Not good. Not good.

      • Can we hibernate until our other plan finishes?

        • +1

yes we can but thats just $1 per day. Not much anyway

          • @melbournian3024: I thought your old plan terminated once Exetel plan activated? So if you cancel this exetel plan or hibernate, you would end up with no NBN.

            • @jayzee: No the old plan has a 30 days notice so thats also active and Exetel hijacked that so paying both. Technically its possible to have both connections active in parallel on two different ports.

  • I'm with superloop and thinking to change to exetel with this deal, how does this play out in real life?
I know i have to give superloop 30 days notice.
    1. do i contact superloop to pout in the 30 day cancellation request,
    2. signup for the cashback deal and then call exetel to schedule the install 30 days later?
3 wait for the magic to happen in 30 days?

I guess I'll have to schedule this witht he billing cycle or is superloop prorata?

    Thanks

    • +1

As above. You can’t schedule the new Exetel plans
But people above have said Superloop have waived the cost moving to Exetel (since they are the same company)

    • Was with Superloop. Gave their cancellation a call and mentioned I wanted to move to Exetel One which is their sister company and asked if they could waive the cancellation notice/fee. Said no problem and I asked for a ref.

Then signed up to Exetel and immediately called back Superloop. They waived the fee and charged me a pro-rata fee for the rest of my billing month. Very quick and painless.

  • Anything for the existing customers?

    • All existing customers are now on Legacy plans, which you can keep. Or switch to One Plan with pro rata biling for current month. But confirm that with them. No Cashback though, unless you are a super negotiator.

  • Just finished my 12 month new customer pricing with leaptel, this seems perfect to tie me over until september changes (90 days cashback)

Is this an automatic churn? or do i need to contact leaptel to cancel, Im on night shift and dont want to screw up the home internet for the wife

    • auto churn. no need to contact leapel. I am having issues with Exetel speed coming from 250mb leaptel. with 2.4gh, only getting around 85mb so far, pretty annoyed. Im gonna wait couple hours and hopefully, the speed will pick up as i only join today

  • +3

If i am not wrong, NBN will upgrade nbn100/20 to 500/50 from 9/2025 so why not signing up 100/20 for cheaper price? The speed will come up to 500/50 this September. There are many offers of Nbn100/20 for $60, $65/month now.

    • +1

I just spoke to Exetel tech support and asked them if my Legacy plan for 100/20 would be automatically upgraded to the new 500/50 speeds in September, she went and checked couple times, come back and said they have no answer yet as to whether or not the grandfathered plans would be upgraded.

Sheesh… pull your finger out Exetel

Seems like really want everyone only on the CG-NAT plans.

This response from customer service conflicts with previous emails sent out by Exetel to existing customers confirming speed upgrades at no additional cost in September.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/911412

UPDATE: Called them a second time, spoke with a gentleman, asked again about the automatic speed upgrades coming September, he confirmed if you receive an email or text then you would be eligible for the speed upgrade.

      Guess time will tell.

      • Cancellations department used the upgrade to 500/50 in September as a reason to stay. So not all staff are on the same page. Apparently they’ve rolled these changes out very quickly and there is conflicting info.

      • If you have FTTP or HFC, you will have free speed upgrade.

        https://www.comparebroadband.com.au/broadband-articles/nbn-i…

  • I manage my parents internet plans. Its time for them to move after SL's recent price increases.

If i track the cashback…. and sign them up to a new Exetel plan… will i still get the Topcashback?
How do they cross check ME tracking it… to their NEW exetel account creation?

Do they check the TopCashBack email registered against the email used on Exetel?

    • Probably the contact phone number you used. I do the same as you, but yesterday Exetel picked up other family accounts attached to my mobile contact number and asked me about them (it was a positive thing in the discussion).

  • Hi @simplerick or reps could you please let me know how long this offer will last as my billing cycle with More ends of 17th July and I would like to sign up with Exetel on the 16th of July. Since I cannot nominate a date of connection with Exetel I have to aim on the day connection.
If there’s another way of doing this please let me know. Since I paid More from 17th June to 17th July it’s best I wait it out.

  • Just a note this is Superloop, if you have a Superloop plan they'll take over the port and charge cancellation fees without telling you, even if you request it on a different port.

  • +1

Just a logic problem for me for existing Superloop customers, Superloop/Exetel are the same business so would they honour the $100 cashback for superloop customers joining as new customers, I don't really see how that benefits them, you're already a customer.

  • Still waiting for my untracked vandal claim from 3+ months ago to get somewhere…

  • I just went from Superloop 100/50 to this plan and I'm not kidding when I say that within 5 minutes of lodging the Exetel order through the TopCashback link, my Superloop service stopped. I rebooted my modem and Exetel was live. Before signing up with Exetel, I called Superloop and confirmed that the 30 days notice in wiring would be waived which they said it would be. Very quick changeover and didn't require any modem setting changes.

  • I have not got any tracking from TopCashBack yet, did others, how long after you completed your order?

    • It did track, they just never emailed me about the track

  • Can someone please let me know how to add the referral code and if they stack?

I’m really confused on the referral codes thing. I thought I would get like a number or letter codes?

    • You can get the referral codes here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/exetel.com.au

      • Thanks a lot. This is my first time doing this. So basically I’ll go to the link above then click on the greyed referral code which will give me a random code? I’ll then copy paste this in the topcash promo code section when I sign up?

These random codes do they work all the time? The code gives me $1 off a month on my bills?

        • Yes. As long as it the new code (you may have to cycle a few times like I did) it will work.
$1 off a month each person. As long as both stat with Exetel.

          • @internet-stranger: Would this stack with this $100 cash back offer?
Just making sure I don't forfait the $100 cash back for $1/month - that would take a loooong time to recover :(

            • +1

@bauser99: No idea :( and no clear response from rep.
Unless you are planning on keeping Exetel for the next 100 months I’d pass on the referral just in case.

  • Moved from leaptel that got disconnected within 5 mins of ordering but exetel service is still on received status after 2 hours… anyone else?

    • If you're switching from Leaptel, your internet connection with Leaptel should remain active until the Exetel service is successfully activated.

      • I havent made a request to leaptel to disconnect my nbn. Exetel blaming nbn for the issue. Churned to different providers before and it took less than an hour for the whole thing to happen. Seems more like an exetel problem.

        • turn your modem off and and on, if still no internet.
I dont know if I had to do that, but I did when I lost internet.
The reason you lose internet is because Exetel churn you on the existing port, they don't use a new port keeping old service active. There is no ability to choose your preference

          • @bobvegas: Did that too. Still no internet. Uni d port has a yellow light so service is definitely not active

          • @bobvegas: Switch your NBN box off and on again also.

  • +3

This has been asked a couple of times earlier but not answered.

Can we use a referral code to get $1 per month off the Exetel One plan, and still get the Topcashback cashback?

    Can TA confirm?

    • +1

      it's $12 a year, why even bother when you're risking $100 cashback.

      • Please surrender you OzBargain badge :P

    • Following. Let me know if you did get a straight answer from someone.

  • Just got off the phone with Superloop after requesting a plan cancellation due to this Exetel deal. Go on live chat, tell the AI bot that you want to cancel NBN, and within 15 mins you'll get a call from Superloop. I'm currently paying $85/month for 50/20 FTTP, and they offered to upgrade me to 100/40 for the same price, with a promised speed increase to 500/50 in September. It’s $5/month more than Exetel, but at least I don’t have to go through the hassle of cancelling and switching providers etc.

Hope this helps someone in the same position!

  • When is this cashback ending? Thanks
