Exetel nbn FTTP & HFC Speed Upgrade Coming This September 2025

It seems that Exetel customers are receiving a notification that their nbn plans are going to receive a speed upgrade. For example the current 100/20 Mbps is going to 500/50 Mbps for nbn FTTP and HFC. The notification states that the upgrade is at no additional cost. Exetel customers are having a price increase next billing cycle so the no additional cost is after this next price increase.

nbn are boosting the speeds. Other nbn providers will get this upgrade too.

Leaptel is the same. Seems like it is coming direct from nbn

nbn is being dragged into faster speeds one step at a time!

Didn't NBN get the memo? Tony said 25Mbps is more than enough!

    How about more by cba?

Raise the monthly cost then pretend the upgrade is free

    • Both are being done by NBN. SO your conspiracy is a fail.

    • The price hike is less than what new subscribers would pay. Looking at current Exetel plans; after the initial 6 months offer, 100/20 plan is $95/month ongoing. Current 100/20 customers are having their price increase to $90/month ongoing. In a way this rewards those who don't want to keep churning. If you continue to churn after initial offer periods then you could be better off: at the moment I don't see the pricing for the new speeds so who knows what they will cost for new customers. In other words churning right now may or may not mean that there would be higher cost for new speeds. I have no idea what the retailers will do. Only statement Exetel made is that existing customers won't see a price increase above the incoming $90/month.

Been waiting since this time last year.

    • It is great to see the top end speeds increase. I think seeing the slower plans increasing effects more of the population.

  • I'm going from 100/20 to 500/50. I would much rather have 200/200 but I'm not a business.

    • Agreed 200/200 would be much more useful. But oh well, it's a step in the right direction.

  • Any Launtel customers here?

  • Is there any change to the 50/20 plan? That’s currently the most popular nbn plan.

    • No change to 50/20.

      • That’s a shame. Perhaps it’s a matter of time.
