  • How do you get the refill butane gas? And where from?

    • It's just normal lighter butane which you can get from anywhere. Supermarkets, Bunnings, etc.

    • uses lighter gas from hardware stores or cigarette stores.

Surely we aren't now posting deals that assume you're a first time Amazon customer to get the price

It's actually a good price even at $54.90.

      • The op is not suppose to put the price after amazon app discount.

        • True, should report it.

  • Other than being wireless, what's the advantage of using this instead of a regular soldering iron?

      Other than being wireless

That's the biggest positive. When you need a soldering iron where there's no power socket nearby, it's invaluable. I have a TS80P and this Dremel and find that for some tasks, having to run a wire to a power bank is less convenient than a self-contained butane iron.

what's the advantage of using this instead of a regular soldering iron?

This will also let you shrink heatshrink tubing neatly, and make some creme brulee.

Came for the soldering, stayed for dessert

I use it mostly on my boat, it is quite versatile tool - soldering iron where you need it, hot knife for ropes, webbing and fabric, heat gun. BTW, you can use it as hot air when soldering too.
I would buy several more, but it is Dremel - going very strong even in a hostile environment.

Good for people who only have occasional need and limited space to stash tools.

I’ve had a flash Weller butane that didn’t get very hot and a Portasol butane that was a fantastic tool but replacement tips are very exey.

I’d guess that a Dremel would be a good bit of kit.

      • +1

Yeah, it's more powerful than my Portasol. Noticeably higher gas output.
Don't forget to ensure the hot exhaust port on the tip is facing upwards and not towards your workpiece.

  • The entire kit including the soldering iron looks identical to the aldi one that comes up regularly.

    • How much do the Aldi ones go for?

      • About $30 from memory

That Workzone kit is very different gear from this Dremel, it’s not a case of simple rebadging.
