That's a quick drop for a flagship phone just released not long ago.

  • +3

Maybe worth price matching with jbhifi or good guys if they have telstra 12 month contract plus gift card deal today.

Hopefully they have a instore deal that will be better than the advertised one.

  • +6

Lets hope there is a deal for the Ultra 5G version. But then I am not desperate for a new phone…….

    • +1

my Galaxy S10 is going so strong … it's so hard to justify a replacement even as an ozbargainer.

      • +1

        My 256GB s9+ too

        • S9+ is still overpowered for me…… even after 2.5 years

          • +1

@Sungrower: I know what you mean. Still got a Note 8, what's annoying is the discontinuing of updates. I know it costs money for them but still annoying.

            • +3

@albot: Same boat, Note 8 still going strong even after 3+ years, battery getting weak, that's all. Will consider buying replacement March 2021 onwards as that's when offices open up for return to work. Until then no commute, so battery isn't a concern when I can charge up twice a day extracting full value of this phone.

@aaruu: I have a note 8 as well and it's still going strong. Had a battery issue like you and got replaced and now battery lasts all day. Have been trying to justify replacing it but so far I cannot. Maybe next year when samsung finally start using snapdragon in their flagship phones.

                • @dlakers3peat: The other trick is to NOT use the included charger but try and find the slowest charger possible. I am using a 0.5A charger when it's plugged in next to my bed, keeps the battery in much better condition.

            • @albot: We pay a premium and they need to provide updates.
Or may charge a nominal fee after certain period.
ACCC should enforce it also make it illegal to slowdown and kill the phone using updates

my Galaxy Note 9 after 2 years is still perfect ….. no doubt the next model will have 5g and better cameras as standard :)

      • +4

My Note 8 still going strong as well, battery not great but being at home still good enough. I would be hanging out for 5g now

      • +1

n8 same except the smashed glass from MTBing

      • As an ozbargainer there’s very little need to upgrade a Samsung flagship phone until they stop receiving support around the four year mark. And even then if you are happy to continue to use without security updates you could get another couple of years easily enough.

  • From the comments:
It doesnt appear to have the au charger.
Also shilped from Hong Kong, I wonder if Samsung AU will support the warranty on this.

    • Is not Amazon responsible for returns at least?

      • +1

Is you crack the screen and need it repaired, Samsung AU wont touch it.
I've experienced this in the past.

Amazon wont take it back if you (accidentally) damaged it.

    • Probably bought from bexetech listings or something.

    • and yet in "More about this product" Amazon say "2 Year Manufacturer Warranty. Certified Samsung Electronics Australia products give you the performance, features and coverage you expect" ….. shipping from HKG but Samsung Electronic Australia product ????

    • I'm reading comments too and I'm so confused. Isn't everything sold by Amazon (ie when it says that it's sold directly by "Amazon au") supposed to be proper australian stock?

Getting an imported version without an australian charger and potential warranty issues is not ok! You might as well buy it from a grey importer at that stage.

    • +3

That is due to the system mixes comments regarding all sellers of the same product all together. That buyer is probably referring to a third party seller.
As long as it's sold by Amazon AU, it should be local stock.

I ordered the phone last Friday and received the phone on Sunday. I can confirm that it is AU stock with the AU charger

  • 5G is 1229?

    Are these Snapdragons then?

    • +2

Nope, it's an Exynos 990 based on other websites specification for this model number

  • -1

Poor Krystal in the comments !!! a broken seal on a 1000 phone, you would send it back surely?

  • It just proves never buy an electronic item that's just been released. Wait 3 months and save heaps.

  • +1

I was interested until I saw it has a 60hz display, I can't go back to that.

  • +1

$974.35 on the Samsung Education Store if you have access to it btw

    • just need a .edu email for that?

      • +1

        Yep

      • +1

Also don't forget to use your welcome $50 voucher if you are a first time registration at the store.

        • I wonder will OW price match?

  • +3

The only problem is Exynos processor, I would have got one if it was with the snapdragon processor.

  • +2

$1000 for a 60hz screen, Exynos, no 5G and LCD is still a terrible deal.

  • Same price since Friday. Got it with 12% shopback flash sale and Zip pay.
    Ended up paying $840.

    • Didnt want to post the deal?

      • It wasn’t the cheapest price. EPP stores were selling it for $974. Cash back and zip pay deals were already posted for everyone to see and were not specific to this deal.
I had already decided to buy this phone, was just looking for the cheapest way to get it so stacked the coupons.

  • Ok I bought one from Amazon and haven't opened it yet. Is this a crap version of the NOTE20 why are people talking about the processor and 60hz. Please someone help ???

    • This is the base model, and there are 4 variants of the Note 20 series this year. The Ultra range include a larger screen, higher refresh rate, more powerful cameras.
      -Note 20 (current one)
      -Note 20 5G
      -Note 20 Ultra
      -Note 20 Ultra 5G
