If he didn't feature in the video and a random person did, the toy/bot wouldn't sell nearly as much.
If you don't know who Justin Roiland is, then you're probably not the target market for this product. It might be crap (the prototype looks like it is) but it is a novelty gift that some of the show's fans might enjoy. $247 is very steep though for such an item
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty, and hence the butter Robot. The Robot's function is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the Robot's utility will go over a typical owner’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into the Robot's design- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance.

That intro video was the most damning show of how garbage the quality of this thing is, I get that it's a prototype but it looks like a glorified happy meal toy.
