    Cyber Monday Sale

    But today is Wednesday

    • -1

It started on cyber monday, and runs until 14/12.

      • This promo actually started back in 01/11. They just re-promoted it.

  • vouch for autoguru, solid service.

  • +1

Thanks for posting. Did not know about this. Was doing servicing for 5x the amount quoted here with authorised showrooms.

    • I've used them a couple of times and always been happy, able to get some really good price comparisons.
Last time I booked a service I received a free uber voucher for something like $20 which was cool.

I do wonder why some garages need such service to get business…

    • -1

probably not enough customers due to being too expensive or due to poor service…

    • +1

I think its a smart business move for a workshop owner to list on there.
Go down the route of normal advertising and you pay regardless of how many leads are generated. Go down this route they will pay a commission per booking to autoguru which may or may not end up a higher cost than other forms of advertising, but they only pay for actual customers.

Digital marketing as a small business, particularly ones that have limited marketing expertise, is very difficult. It makes plenty of sense to use sites like this, and let them do the work for you. And more and more people go online first when look for trades or services. It's a smart move.

And more and more people go online first when look for trades or services. It's a smart move.

Most people I know just ask for referrals on their local community facebook page, so this isn't going to do much.

        • They don't need to attract 'most people', they are attracting the people you would only reach online, because they are choosing to search online.

And it's working for them. According to Similarweb they had 340,000 site visitors in October. Even assuming a low conversion rate, that's a lot of business.

What if it's a zero conversion rate? As opposed to a referral from a satisfied customer?

            • @jv: Well then they wouldn't have a business. But all indicators are that they're doing well.

If no-one was interested, they wouldn't be searching online in the first place, and the search traffic is clearly there.

              • @kapone:

                I searched, but wasn't biting…

                • +1

@jv: I've used the service, and so have others in this thread so its definitely higher than a zero conversion rate.
Personally I would never ask for referrals on a local facebook page as I would find it less helpful than google.
I don't have a lot of free time, have always had my car serviced at the dealer, but they had no appointments available that suited my schedule so I googled and found autoguru. I can input exactly what I need done, and when, and filter to show who has loan cars available etc, then they come back to me with quotes and I can choose the best option.

A referral from facebook will get me a random bunch of option, I would then have to call each one and ask for a quote, availability etc which sounds like a huge waste of time.

I prefer referrals from people in the community that I know and trust rather than random strangers on google or people who are paid to recommend someone.

      no brainer.
people google for 'car service near me' etc nowadays.
how else should they get new business?
they need an online presence of some sort.

The quotes are more expensive. If you ring the mechanics direct, prices are much cheaper than booking through autoguru.

    • Agreed. I've used Autoguru a few times to get quotes for different auto jobs, and have found their price comparisons extremely helpful.

They also tell you if the garages offer perks like loan cars, pickup/dropoffs, free car washes, wheel balancing/rotations, etc.

However, the garages have to obviously markup their charges due to the Autoguru commissions.

After speaking with a few garages, the common concensus is that calling and booking the job with them directly instead of through the Autoguru website is the cheaper option.

  • Sunday, fathers day

Just look for a good mechanic and when you find them keep them. Even if they charge a bit more it doesn't matter as long as the job is done good and they take care of you.

    • How do find one?

  • Best way to secure a good price is to use Autoguru to see what the business is charging and then ring them direct and ask for a quote. 9 out of 10 times they will beat the quote and provide you with a better service. Autoguru charges 18+% to its repairers. They also make money off selling your info to third parties.

You can also use after pay with the provider as they get it as part of the autoguru program. The only reason to keep it within Autoguru is if somthing goes wrong, but in my experience Autoguru does not publish reviews that are less than 3 starts on their site. So you would be better off talking to rair trading or providing a facebook, google review.
