I've been looking around for the best deal to start churning through some Qantas credit cards and got this convenient email from Qantas for extra 20k points on new card approvals (i've applied for the ANZ Black promo).

"How do you earn an extra 20,000 bonus Qantas Points?

  1. Simply register for the offer before 4 January 2021 by logging in to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Don’t have one? Join now for free.
  2. Apply for a Qantas Points earning credit card at qantas.com/cards and be approved by the relevant card partner.
  3. Make an eligible purchase on your new card within 30 days of receiving it, to ensure that the points you’ve earned from your purchase are credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account before 31 March 2021.

*Members must not have earned Qantas Points on a Qantas Points earning card into their Qantas Frequent Flyer account within the past 12 months from offer registration to be eligible"

Doesn't this pretty much rule every ozbargainer (churner) out?

    • I believe so yes

      Yep, you're right
Probably only good for those who are new to the game

      • I'm new to the game but only looking for no annual fee cards. Is this the only one I can try for?

The AMEX QF discovery is the only pure Qantas no annual fee card on the market, and its 0.75 QF points per dollar. Note that Qantas Points have a higher cost relative to your typical reward points.

I think its compulsory for ozbargainer to be a Churner

Registered anyway in the hope that they may stuff up.

      Got an email that says:

You have been registered for the First-time cardholder 30,000 bonus Qantas Points offer.

      That's stuff up #1 already :)

      • +2

haha that was the previous offer

      • Giggidy, signed up for stuff ups!

You have been registered for the First-time cardholder 30,000 bonus Qantas Points offer.

      • Wait, they still haven't changed it from July…

    • What if you have more than 1 account or make a new account? Once you got the point just transfer it to your family member

    • That counts me out

    • Yes and no. I use my QFF account for everything but never used wife's. So this might work for me

  • Thanks Op!
Aside from ANZ and a recent Westpac deal (both found on here), are there any other cards you have come across you can share?

Edit: never mind, realised this promo is only relevant for those listed on the Qantas site.

it’s about $125 worth of Woolies gift cards, better off with Coles 40K flybuys points which is equivalent to $200 shopping money

    • It is on top of whatever the card give you as a bonus

      • ar, i see, sorry my bad

  • Damnit, I literally just received my ANZ QFF card on Monday.

    • +2

If you haven't received any points from it yet then you should be good.

      • Thanks, that gives me hope! I started spending on it but received no points yet. I signed up and hoping for the best.

  • Do QFF points convert to a near-cash form i.e. Rewards or Flybuys that can be used as cash to buy stuff from ColesWorth? If yes, what's the conversion rate?

  • I registered for the offer, but on my email, it was stated 30k points bonus instead. Not that i mind lol…

  • Thanks OP. Finally convinced my mother to start doing this after my success. She has been getting frustrated at the getting the payslips ect. The 20,000 on top of the 120,000 being offered by ANZ currently gave her a boost and I just helped finish her application off. Let's hope she can use the points some time soon!

  • Good offer I got this last year on my first churn it doesn’t get any easier, so long as you meet the criteria.

  • Looking for a new credit card… what good deals are ozb on?

    • +2

Basically its the Amex Qantas Ultimate 100K offer + $200 cashback and its on the Qantas website. $450 travel credit set up on top of that. Also note that you can use AMEX on Paypal if you really need to pay bills/rates using the card.

      • Thank you.. so the idea is to cancel it before the next annual fee of 450 or do most ozb keep the card given the free travel?

        • +2

Some people do indeed keep it as their long term credit card (you will get plenty of Amex offers along the way).

  • Already signed up for this in April this year. Just racking up the points atm hoping classic reward seats will open up.

Thanks OP, got one, awesome deal!
Weird time to be getting Qantas points but I'm sure this will be put to good use in the near future.

What's the eligible purchase? Any minimum

  • what if you update your amex current qf number no a different one ie new qf ac or family members account would you get the 20k?

  • Anyone get paid out on this yet?

    • I got paid out on 22 December, would probably contact them if you haven't received your points yet

      • When was your application?

        • Applied 14 December, approved 15 December.

  • I registered for this offer but never applied for credit card. if i apply for credit card now, am i going to get these bonus points

    • I have the same question. The terms seems to be missing on the link in the email.
