James Bond fans who don't already own copies of the movies and are looking for something to watch are in luck. MGM has decided to take down the paywall for most of the entries in the franchise on YouTube, meaning they can all be streaming, legally, right now, for free. All one needs is an internet connection and access to YouTube and everything from Dr. No to Die Another Day can be streamed without having to shell out any dough. But exactly how long this will last is anyone's guess.

There are a couple of small catches. First off, the movies will include ads. YouTube has been trying to get into the streaming content game and they believe ad-supported is the way to go when it comes to offering movies. So, the trade-off is you don't have to pay anything but ad breaks are going to be included. The movies can also only be streaming in the U.S. currently. So those who live outside of America are out of luck for the moment. Beyond that, the only real question is how long MGM will keep its golden goose franchise fee to watch.

$14 for all the movies in 4K without ads on Stan seems like a better deal to me.

    • +2

Agreed. Been watching them in order, one a week for the last few months on Stan. First time I've seen some of them and just so happened to see 'Never Say Never Again' only a day or two before Mr Connerys passing (RIP Sean). I did use YouTube to watch the original original Casino Royale though after realising there were three versions made… the original from 1954, the difficult-to-watch 1967 spoof and of course the still-amazing 2006 version with Ms. Green & Mr. Craig. Just hope Stan still has them for another couple of months so we can get through them all :)

      Thought 4K was $19 a month

      • +3

You could be right. I use my sisters account so I actually haven't paid for it in many years.
At $19, my comment remains the same.

        • How does one get that deal!!

          • +7

@freewhere: Get adopted by dalcoud's parents. Then bam free Stan.

            /s

            • +3

@xoom: I can photocopy my old adoption forms for anyone that needs them.

  • +1

Anyone knows if the Youtube versions are 1080p or 4k?

  • Will an adblocker work?

    • Yeah… like youtube vanced.

    • I use opera browser with in-built ad block on my phone and I don't get any YouTube ads (provided I use the desktop version of YouTube). I also use Chrome ad block extension and I don't get ads on YouTube on my PC either.

    • What about YouTube Premium? Surely no ads…

  • +3

Free, with no ads, if you have a Prime account and a VPN.

    • +2

Which VPN works for Prime? All it does is recognize that I'm using a VPN and doesn't let play anything lol. I haven't had this issue with any other site.

      • Surfshark is what I use. No issues so far.

        • +1

Damn, I use Surfshark too…do you do anything differently while logging into Prime?

          • +1

@RexLongfellow: Yea I get the same using surfshark and when I choose a country location prime detects it and I can't watch anything

How do you bypass this for prime?

            • +1

@edBARGAIN: Try servers in San Francisco or Bend. Never an issue for me.

          • +1

@RexLongfellow: That’s weird. I don’t do anything special. Connect either to San Francisco or Bend. It works every single time. Using the Prime app on the iPad.

            • +1

@rickb: Aight thanks will try those locations out!

edit: It worked for the apps, but not for the browser! Thanks mate, at least got access somehow

There is a vhs collection on Facebook for $30 or DVD sets for $40

    • Ewwww discs

      • Eeww….tape…

        • Tapes are vintage chic now.

        • Ewww… Facebook..

  • Just use your nvidea shield with a VPN and a side loaded app like tea tv or cyberflix. No ads

  • Never say never again isn't MGM though, is it?

  • Just finished watching all of these from woe to go, they've not aged well. The scene with (profanity) Galore still makes me sweat every time I walk into a barn.

    • Oh yes that scene with profanity galore, Bond sure has a potty mouth. Brb, going to feed my profanity cat.

  • Thanks, been a while since I last watched some of those!

  • If I use a windflix with youtube family argentina account, would I still see an ad?

  • Streaming and youtube compression!!! Nothing beats a real 1080p blu-ray.

  • MGM is trying to sell themselves for a cool five billion, maybe they just want to remind everyone what they're worth with these free movies.
