  I guess people who buy robot vacuum cleaners don't have carpets because they are all pretty hopeless at removing dirt from carpet.

    This may be true of some robots, but not a universal truth. Vacuum Wars YT channel tests this ability on
    every model they review and results are quite mixed.

    My house is about 50% carpet, and while I still have a good quality manual vacuum cleaner, it sees very little use since the robot does a decent job of almost everything.

  @shaybisc I have the older model of this and it does a great job on the carpet, have you tried this brand or a different brand? It won’t remove dog turd from a shag pile carpet but for normal daily cleaning situations on both carpet and hardwood/tiles it does a great job.

  I base my opinion on the CHOICE review of 23 robot vacuum cleaners. The test they did for dirt removal from carpet was to sprinkle sand on carpet then measure how much was collected. Only the most expensive one, over $2000, collected more than 50%. It got 60%.

  I just got this for a week. It’s pretty good in my opinion, as long as you do not leave obstacles all over the place, it will automatically map out your house, detect all the rooms and clean them. The software is somewhat intuitive, not the best but it’s okay. this is my first bot vac, so I am not sure if others are better.
