Don't Want to Accept eBay Sellers Delivery: My Options for Refund

Hi All,

I bought deco m5 router from ebay seller hoping I will get it today as per his listing. I have not received today and not sure if I will get this on Monday. What a are my options if I don't accept delivery and buy router from local store tomorrow. Will I get refund?

Till I fix internet I am enemy no.1 for my 3 kids…

Story: sorry for long story

My netcomm modem/router started playing up and randomly dropping wifi. Did some research on OzBargain and bought deco m5 from ebay seller paid $241 on 1st Dec morning for 4th delivery from Melbourne to NSW (Amazon was selling for $227 but delivery on 8th dec)

Sent message to seller 2nd Dec 10.30 pm to check if I am getting this by 4th. Didn't got any reply.
Sent another message yesterday afternoon to cancel my order. This time got reply can't cancel item posted 3rd dec
Got tracking update item received by aus post Melbourne 5.40pm

Whole point of buying from this seller for delivery on 4th. If he would have posted in time I would have got router today. I can see delivery is not delayed by aus post, seller himself didn't bother to post in time.
I understand items can be late, never bothered me 2 or 3 days, but this was perticularly bought keeping in mind delivery on 4th.

My options:
Now I don't want to wait couple more days and will buy router from local store tomorrow. What if I don't accept delivery Monday or Tuesday will I get refund?

Or shall accept delivery and send back(free return eBay plus)? Can late delivery be reason for returning

Or do you guys think I keep calm wait few days and not go through hassle of refund?
Thanks

It's the silly season, even without covid, deliveries are always delayed at this time of year.

Can late delivery be reason for returning

    Yes - definitely.

will buy router from local store tomorrow

Have a look on gumtree, you can probably get one for $10 that'll get you through the weekend and flip it for $10 next week.

  • Agree with comment to wait out.

Good to build up your kids EQ.

There are a bunch of people giving away routers for free in Sydney. Just pick up one of those until your new router gets delivered next week.

    • Thanks, I will check gumtree

That's sad its not your fault, tell them to read a book etc they don't need to use internet? they have real friends within walking distance?
They can do homework without Google and plagiarism LOL

    • So far managed kids well, kept them busy.
      👍

      • Lets hope you can get another modem quickly before they get bored

Aus post at this time of the year is bad

Aus post with covid backup is even worse

Even if they mailed it on Wednesday morning you would be lucky to get it Monday

    • I was expecting seller to post 2nd Dec as I have paid 1st Dec morning. But he posted yesterday afternoon.

I think I will wait till monday.

you probably would've gotten it faster if bought from Amazon (just make sure its fulfilled or sold by Amazon AU). their ETA dates are usually on the lenient side. I find that my parcels from Amazon get shipped same day (if ordered in the AM) and most get shipped by next day. Deliveries took 1-2 business days after dispatch in my experience. Super fast

WTF kind of expectation is this?

    No OP, it's not late.
