I got a free copy of the first Witcher game (Enhanced Edition) from GOG as well, using this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/539099

There you just need to sign up to the newsletter online (no app required) claim a free copy of the Gwent card game (and make sure it's in your GOG account inventory) then you can download The Witcher 1 Enhanced Edition.

The difference between these two deals is (as far as I can see) is that with this deal you get the same Enhanced Edition game but it's the Director's Cut version (this includes all the scenes, dialog, etc that were censored and removed from the US version).

That's what I remember from wikipedia, but my memory isn't that great lol, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

The point I'm trying to make is that if the game is going to be played by an adult then you probably want the uncensored Director's Cut of the Enhanced Edition from this deal.

If it's for a younger player you may (or may not) want to get the Enhanced Edition from the other deal, instead of the uncensored Director's Cut from here.

I have no idea what was censored, and if what I wrote is correct, so it's just a heads up for parents and adults who may prefer one version over the other.

+1 for putting the effort on writing this.

I'm not seeing the banner at the top of the recent tab, only recently played by me and others.

      • Just make sure the GOG app is up to date. The game did not appear on my "recent"until I updated my GOG app.

        • It updated itself when I started it up. I'll restart and try again.

    • I claimed my free copy via the GWENT way too. GOG only seems to have a single version of the witcher 1 available which is the Enhanced edition, although the game cover shown in the store and even in my library is the EE Director's Cut version.

  • awesome find op

    thanks heaps

  • Free? I paid $79 for The Witcher on Switch, during lockdown. It was worth it.

    • +3

That would be The Witcher 3. As that is the only Switch release in the series and released back in October 2019. This is an enhanced update of the fist Witcher game originally released back in October 2007 on Windows and Mac OS. Gog should just make this permanently free as it regularly goes free all the time. At least for the past 3½ years.

  • It appeared after I updated the GOG client
