It's a myth that absinthe causes hallucinations. Wormwood can cause hallucinations however in very high quantities which actually make it toxic and was never found in that high even in original absinthe.
The hallucination myth was started by quite a few Hollywood films and everybody thought it was true. Banning it in countries also held fuel those rumours.
