Fantastic game. Couldn't get into the sequels unfortunately.

    • Why not

  • Rise of tomb raider also cheap as well, around 8 from PS store

I liked rise of the tomb raider a little better than this

It was free on ps plus couple of months ago.

Does it run 60FPS on the PS5?

  • Got it free from PS Plus many years ago lol

That was the PS3 version, though. The PS4 remaster is worth a shot - certainly worth $3.74 for the upgrade, if only to get a backwards compatible version in your library for PS5 and beyond.

  • Go the Rise of Tom Raider in PS+ a couple of months and have not played it, will play this before that.
    Thanks

I’ve never played a Tomb Raider game but for the price of a coffee… why not 🙂

Isn't your time worth more than $3.74?

      • Depends on what I’m doing shrug

        • Pretty good adventure, platformer with light combat

  • No brainer if you've been living under a rock and haven't picked this up previously.

  • How's it if compare to Uncharted series?

    • Uncharted start off as a Tomb Raider copycat (internet told me so back then) but then by the end of it (especially Uncharted 2), it has become one of the best gaming series of all time and Uncharted 2 remain to this day as my no.1 game of all time. Nevertheless, I heard Tomb Raider is also a very good series as well but I haven't play the latest batch yet, the last Tomb Raider that I played was on the PS2. LOL.

I only played uncharted 2 recently, but comparing both, Tomb raider is more cinematic and a bit more puzzler jumper. Where as uncharted was more action oriented.
But given that Uncharted 2 is something like 10 years old, it is a masterpiece of a game.

If you like one, you would probably like the other.

They're not a million miles apart - expect plenty of big set-pieces with buildings crashing down in flames as you escape. Uncharted generally keeps you on a tight leash, while Tomb Raider has a bit more freedom of movement and some light RPG mechanics if you enjoy that, and the bow feels good to use. But overall I think the Uncharted series is just way more fun. Much better writing, humour and characters, and doesn't take itself anywhere near as seriously as the grim TR reboot. (On the other hand: $3.74.)

The first game compares quite nicely, but as mentioned by others, Uncharted still outshines this series IMO.

The first half of this game was particularly memorable, unravelling wtf is going on. Defo worth it for this price!

    • This Tomb Raider is obviously heavily influenced by Uncharted - much more "cinematic" than the old TR series.

The Uncharted games are better, but we're unlikely to see a new one of those any time soon so this is certainly a worthy substitute if you're after that style of game.

I liked this one, but was not a fan of Rise of the Tomb Raider, and I never played the 3rd one whatever it was called.

This is an excellent series. Highly recommended (especially 1 + 2)

I didn't love this one. I played rise first though and really enjoyed that. Rise has better RPG elements that this game doesn't have. I'd play that first imo

    • From the sounds of it might be better to play this one first, kind of like playing Skyrim and going back to play oblivion, its hard to do (I'm talking graphics wise for the example). Hard to go back and play previous games if the new ones have been constantly improving.

    • Yeah that's a good idea. I found myself missing a lot of the new game play elements. People say this one has a better story than rise but I found both are like b-grade action flicks in this regard.

    • I was kind of the opposite - I thought the RPG elements, as well as the bigger, more open environments, made Rise just feel a bit bloated. The first one just felt tighter and leaner and more focused.

  • Can you play this on the PS5?

  • I'm playing this game now on steam, so far so good.

This game was discounted to this price a few months ago - I didn't buy it last time and ended up regretting it once the special ended.

I may never play it - but for $3.74 it won't break the bank either.

    +1. Thanks OP.

  • got it, and rise for 7.99, not bad :)
