Please don’t put sales (only) on Facebook.
Some of us choose not to be their ’users’.

    • Just out of curiosity, what other platforms would be a better choice?
Apart from the traditional webpage advertising, Instagram is also owned by FB.

      • +3

        ozbargain?

        • Of course! (Facepalm)

    • Some of us choose not to be their ’users’.

Criticisms of Facebook aside, this can be said of any platform. Regardless of what platform you choose to market your products and/or sales, you will always have people who don't use said platform. If you choose to market your products on your own site, then you have discoverability issues.

      • OK, then how about "Please don’t put sales (only) on any websites that demonstrate a blatant disregard for individuals' privacy, because you will lose sales from potential customers that care about such things" ?

        • "Please don’t put sales (only) on any websites that demonstrate a blatant disregard for individuals' privacy, because you will lose sales from potential customers that care about such things" ?

Again, this can be said about any platform.

  • Hey OP - any suggestions on what to do with old Samsonite suitcases? Doesn't seem like any recyclers want them.

    • +3

Hi there, We donate many of our suitcases to the AFP at the international airports to help train the sniffer dogs. Feel free to drop your case off at any Rolling Luggage store or the Samsonite Head Office in Mulgrave Vic and we will arrange for this to get to them.

    Samsonite Aspero 69cm Spinner - $180 (RRP $599)

Normal price for this in most stores is around $240, comparing to $599 is misleading and deceptive and against the ACCC advertising laws…

    • Manufacturer RRP vs street price

      • "misleading and deceptive" price comparison, vs price comparison of what you are 'really' saving…

      • ACCC law is pretty clear that you are not allowed to compare to RRP if you do not normally sell at RRP.

    • Hi there. I can confirm that $599 is the normal RRP for this product. We are completely ACCC compliant. This is not misleading or deceptive.

      • -1

This is not misleading or deceptive.

        Yes it is…

You are making an illegal price comparison.

It is against the law to make a price comparison to a RRP when you do not normally sell it at the RRP.

        https://www.accc.gov.au/publications/advertising-selling/adv…
Zamel’s was penalised $250,000 by the courts for doing exactly this…

I can confirm that $599 is the normal RRP for this product.

That is irrelevant if you read what the ACCC says…

  • Saw the testing in Belgium, it worth to buy.

Suitcase prices are like mattress prices - always on sale and if you ever pay more than 50% of list price then you have been ripped off.

    • Totally agree. The example prices are 30% of list price so appears to be good value.

I expect that luggage sales have been down over the past 9 months so there is probably significant stock in the supply chain.

      • Hi Mathew42. This is true! COVID19 has hit our industry very hard and with ships already on the water with deliveries coming to Australia (when international borders were closed), our warehouses are now full. This is a good opportunity for us to move stock to make some room and our customers benefit from this. We hope to see you at the sale!

  • Samsonite always reminds me of this

Hi there 8200, These classics are still around and we still see the odd one coming in for a wheel replacement or a little TLC. I'm glad to hear that yours is still going well. Enjoy!

      • One word, ICON!

Good to see u still have parts for it, not needed but anyway…

        Cheers

  • @OP any expandable carry-on spinners? Thanks!

    • We have many! You won't be disappointed with the range. We hope to see you there!

  • Hi op, doggos allowed?

    • Good morning.
Feel free to bring your dog.

  • Just back from there. No much left if you’re after Samsonite. Doesn’t worth the trip.

    • Thanks, I was going to ask if anyone know price for the curv range as it appears to be the only model not made in China.

      • +1

Cosmolite 81cm was $290 but gone faster than yesterday’s AirPods eBay deal. The doggy thing is they restocked them later with a different color but jacked the price to $380.

      • Good morning Vincent.

I can confirm that there is still a lot of Curv products here at the warehouse sale. On day one, we did run out of a couple of lines that were bits and pieces of clearance. We currently have 30 other lines of curv (Mostly Fireflite and Cosmolite and a dozen pieces left of Aspero that is also Made in Europe) Curv 55cm Firelite is starting at $280 in many colours.

We also have the last of the repairs and samples coming out this morning, there is a lot of curv product in the sale and at great prices (81cm for $180). These go pretty quickly.

Today is our last day and we are open 10am-7pm at 23a Smith Road Springvale. I hope to see you here :)

I went there and there are plenty of stocks and lots are still in the box. Soft case appears to be made in China. Engeneeo as shown in pic of this post is made in India. I ended up getting the Samsonite Lite Box medium one for $275. It has better wheels. I think it still worth a visit if you are in market for one. I also bought a handbag and a backpack.
