Seriously why do people act as if this is a life necessity. While I am a gamer think about it logically, not a large range of PS5 must play games at the moment and its not like your PS4 suddenly becomes obsolete.

Eventually the market will be near saturated next year. Right now we are going though the same phenomenon as toilet paper across all new gaming platforms.

    Sell, don't sell, meh.

    • Couldn't agree more. It's a plastic toy, nothing more.

It's not rare, there'll be an adequate supply extremely soon and we all know a price drop will hit once the "shiny thing" people all get theirs.

These shortages are deliberate strategies by the manufacturer.

If you are not desperate to play it, sell it. Games are limited at the moment and very expensive too. I for one would never pay 70-130 for a single title. That's way too much money.

Those who act like this is life essential product scalpers are taking away from others, get real. Nobody needs a PS5. it's simple demand and supply and those who want it the most will have to pay premium.

How about this? A luxury watch I have has gone up in value by a few thousands since I got it 2 years ago due to stock shortage . If I was to sell it now, it would fetch way more than RRP. Is it unethical to sell at market price rather than RRP? No idiot would be silly enough to sell at RRP when the market wants it.

No parent out there pays premium not knowing how much these are at RRP and nobody is forcing them to buy these. There are plenty of other stuff they can get their kids for Xmas.

I've sold both my xbox and ps5 and they were both ecstatic to get them even after getting a receipt from me showing what I paid for them days ago.

Sell it. PS5 has too many hardware problems, it is a case of luck. While a few are fine, others are pissed.
Get an XBX which has very few software issues and isolated cases.

You cannot extend PS5 storage, there is nothing 100% official yet by Sony. WD seems to have a compatible NVMe but that is all about it, and you only have 600GB available to use. You cannot connect a USB storage yet either.

Sony added this feature to the PS4 after ages it was realised so it is not surprising that PS5 will take ages to accept USB storage support. Neither to say, no 1440p support which is the majority of the players out there. Just a big WTF.

You can connect usb storage. Less than 6% of PC gamers use 1440p and considering that a console is primarily geared towards TV's, not monitors, I'd say less than 1% of console players would use 1440p.

Open > Take PS5 out > Reseal > Sell Box only

Replace PS5 with PS3+PS2 glued together

      • 2 4 1 deal.

  • If you can double the money then sell it … Wait a little and get a later/better generation.

  • Got mine. Opened it up. It's a BEAST! Sell if you need the money, if you are not planning to use it, then get rid of it.

  • Open if you're gonna use it.
Return if you're not gonna use it.

I have a nephew who is very sick and all his life just wanted a ps5, could you find the kindness in your heart to sell it to me for less than rrp?

    • +1

      Hi uncle.

      Don't be stingy.

      Sincerely, your nephew.

      • Hi nephew

        I tried my best

        Alas, no ps5 for you.

        Christmas is ruined.

        • probably not the first time an uncle has ruined Christmas.

  • I mean the fact that you're asking yourself after paying 750 might as well just sell it for profit lol. Get another one when you actually want it.

  • Open it use it then sell it off at 1.5x the price second hand. If someone is desperate enough why not, that's capitalism right supply and demand. I'm joking but not joking really you're allowed to sell it for whatever price you want, not your fault if someone is willing to pay that price.

  • if you have not tried ghost of tsushima, try it on ps5. will have no regret.

    • Played on PS4.
      Still playing on PS5.

      No regret. GOTY quality game.

  • Sell it and make a profit,

    Buy another one next year….

  • Sell it for RRP but the buyer has to be your butler for 2 weeks.

    • And put one of my other butlers out of work for Christmas? Seems a little harsh. ;)

  • Donate!

  • sell it to your friend for a quick profit, then visit them every day and play the PS5 with them!

    • My friends are mostly pc gamers if they game.

Sell it. If people are dumb enough to pay that much for them then you may as well make a buck off it. No gaming console is worth that much. So many better things you can do with your time.

In six months time the shelves will be full.

  • Sell it, then open it. Kill two camels with one fridge!

  • Sell then donate some of the profit to a charity?

    • I already have my charities covered. I researched that pretty hard. Often give gifts to charity donations for xmas when no gifts are this thing that year also.

Sell it. I sold my release day PS5 at the front door of JB for $1400….. for that kind of money I’ll happily wait.

    • That is funny. Was the security person at the front door a witness? Wonder what he/she thought?

      • Yep and a lot of other people. It was the first round of pick ups at 8am.
Smart way to get yourself an untouched PS5 on release day if you’re happy to waste the money.

  • Bought mine to keep, then realised there wasn't really much new I wanted to play as i've a bit of a PS4 backlog and still have my PS4. Used it until last week then put up on eBay and it sold used for $1500. Only scalping if you buy it to sell it. If people want to pay the money let them on.

    • Crazy you got $1500 when there are cheaper ones to be found on ebay, gumtree & FB. Good price if thats what you got.

      • +1

I put it up for 1500 including postage not really expecting it to sell. Was slightly disappointed when it did! I have a lot of positive feedback etc. as a seller on eBay so i'd think that helps. That along with the protections from eBay and Paypal make it a much safer place to buy. Fees were about $90 all in

        • Nice win there.

        • Jeez I just sold mine on Gumtree for $1200. Brand new unopened. I was planning to play it but when Cyberpunk turned out to be a complete flop, I don't even have a game I'm interested in yet so decided to let it go for now.

  • I would of sold it as well and bought another one when they got more stock and spent the money I made on some games

  • -3

Sell it at non scalper price - above RRP but a price where you feel good about it and the person buying it is super happy.
    Win all round

    • So, market value.

  • +1

If anyone is still curious, I ended up keeping it and using it.

    • +1

Haven't read the thread but I'm curious why you had to decide between keeping or selling something that you wilfully purchased?

If you wanted a ps5, you got it. Keep it and use it. Buying it just so you can ponder selling it for a profit is not really honourable or even acceptable attitude on a gaming forum. There are plenty of people who would love to buy one but can't because they've all been snatched up by non-gamers looking to make money. Don't br part of that shit crowd.

      • At the time last year the scarcity was not apparent. It was just a new console and hard to get as all new consoles can be. And people were willing to pay almost double rrp. That was not expected to last too long, so the crazy resale price was a temptation. The thing is now I use my old xbox more now because sony still has no competent and "available" alternative to the xbox elite controller (with 4 back paddles). Also my nacon controller does not work with ps5 games. I just cannot play games that I like the most now I am reliant to back paddles.
