Recently bought the Maxxis Refuse 700x40c tubeless for gravel/touring bike, great value and fast shipping. Easy tubeless fit on Mavic UST and held air without sealant which I of course added later. Can vouch for this store these guys are awesome. https://www.cyclestation.com.au/maxxis-refuse-700-x-40c-tube…

Looking for a great deal on 700x32c tubeless road for the next set for the Domane after I wear out the current Bontrager R3's….Santa?

      Thanks for the kind words.

I've just put the 700 x 32C version on sale for you (or anyone else), they are normally $89.95 each, I've marked them down to $59.95 each.
You can find them here: https://www.cyclestation.com.au/maxxis-road-bike-tyre-refuse…

Not quite as cheap as our super hot price on the 40C's but still a good deal considering these are the Tubeless Ready version and very best I can do.

If anyone else want's some 40C's in a the folding tubeless ready version we still have them on sale here, at only $45 each which is a hot price. https://www.cyclestation.com.au/maxxis-refuse-700-x-40c-tube…

      • Are these maxxis refuse in 40mm good for a gravel bike with the odd road riding?

And yes these guys were good to deal with!

I'd say that in theory they would be absolutely ideal for that - but since I don't have a gravel bike myself I can't speak from experience, beanlanda might have some more specific advice.

          • @cyclestation: Thanks, yep @beanlanda might be the go to person this for this.

        • Sorry only just saw this, yes I can confirm 40C excellent for both hard packed gravel and road, and OK on looser gravel. Rode the Lilydale-warby trail a few days ago and while this isn't challenging gravel didn't think about these once, they were best I've ridden including ~33C Maxxis Speed Terraine. I have them mounted on Mavic Ksyrium Elite UST Disc which are only ERTO 19 but fine for these, wheels are on Focus Mares AL which I'm setting up for Gravel Audax's and some bikepacking. The diamond tread is pretty fine so would be a better mixed/commuter/tourer than all out gravel. For frequent muddier/looser you'd want something with coarser tread.

      • Thanks @cyclestation I actually ordered another set of the 40 TR's as the price is smoking and I really like them.

Can’t fault the service of Cycle Station!

  • noob here, would those tubes suit any wheel/tyre? And if I were to upgrade to a 25 in the future (as I've been advised to) what would I need to change?

    • +2

23c is quite thin so should fit any road bike wheels unless you want to get them onto a mountain bike wheel. You do need to be sure the inner tube is suitable for 25c tyres when you want to have wider tyres in future. Whether it is an upgrade or not there is still argument among people with different preferences.

      • so wheels - no issue, tube needs to be capable of fitting 25c tyres? Also the OP says suggested tubes to suit ? I presume that if I buy these 23c tyres the tubes suggested would be fine?

        • +1

Wheels no problem if they are road wheels. They will all be 700C which is the name of the size, it's not something you can measure using the number 700 it just is what it is.

23 vs 25 is the nominal width of the tyre in mm when inflated. So to change over you would just change the tyres.
Tubes are basically like a balloon so can handle a variety of tube widths, so will be measured as a range.
So these ones will handle tyre widths from 20mm (aka 20c) to 25mm (aka 25c). https://www.cyclestation.com.au/2-x-giant-brand-700-x-20-25c…

These wire bead tyres we have on this super sale at the moment, but if you wanted to go for 25's right now you could do that with no issues with the bike. We are sold out of the 25's in the wire bead (ie non folding version), but we do have them in the folding version in stock, which is normally the bigger seller. This item here is for two 25c Refuse tyres + 2 Tubes to suit: https://www.cyclestation.com.au/2-x-maxxis-refuse-700-x-25c-…

Hope this helps! Any more questions feel free to ask.

  • Never used them myself but my mechanic swears by them
