is this everyday fragrance or for date nights?

    • +64

its what 15yo dudes wear for a big night out of rolling people outside Werro station.

Up to you to decide if that's more date night or business casual.

      • ahh yeehh no thanks.

        • +7

Joop's fairly well received by the women in my office at least.

I think opinions like the above are just elitism.

      • +9

When I see Joop it reminds me of the time I walked through a rainforest and smelt it for 5 minutes before a guy appeared and walked past me. So I guess it can also be worn in rainforests.

        • +1

Were your shoes still on your feet after said guy walked past?

        • +1

Joop: for when Agent Orange just isn’t strong enough

        • After five minutes he probably got bored of stalking you from the trees and decided to drop down and casually reveal himself.

      • In 2005.

      • What do dudes just out of university wear? I don't want to smell like anyone still in school or uni, but I do want to smell young. Specifically want to smell like a trust fund dude who became vice president of his father's bank at 24.

        • *Junior Vice President.

          Bond No 9 Hamptons, obv.

        • Creed Aventus or anything Clive Christian

    • +1

If you want an everyday, Nautica Voyage is fantastic and only 17.99$ per 100ml.

      • Thanks, nothing to lose for $18. That's how much I spend for 1 cocktail on a Friday night.

How does it compare with the Hugo Boss bottled that is endorsed by Gerald Buttler?

        https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/76333/hugo-boss-bott…

        • +1

          Voyage is cucumber and citrus

Boss bottled is spicy vanilla and apple.

Boss is more versatile by a long way.

          • +13

@juventino: Any scents that blend lamb and tuna fish?

          • @juventino: Thanks, should I get the Boss one or this one? Or both?

            • @Homr: Both since they are affordableBoss for work and night use ( date, dinner, clubbing)

Nautica for the gym and running errands

              • @juventino: thanks, I might wait for the boss to come down in pricing

You wear cologne at the gym?

Just had a quick read on the comments. I'm a bit concerned about the "I bought it for my son" comments. Sounds like its a teens perfume

                • +1

@Homr: Not during exercise. Just afterward .

For the son comment is because Nautica Voyage is while good, it is entry level aquatic scent. Smells fresh. No sweetness no woodiness.

      • +1

Agree Nautica Voyage is an absolute bargain , also look at CK One Shock also at CW.

        • damn, he is shredded. Do you know his workout regime?

          • +3

@Homr: Pretty sure it is 6 sets of 3 reps on each side of coke. Then go workout. Then thank god for women. Then clap and spin…

        • heritage or non heritage?

      • which is better heritage or non heritage?

        • anyone?

          • @AussieMark: Sorry late reply , OG voyage is the best in my opinion. Heritage isn't bad either but was an unnecessary addition.

            • @Plartus: Thanks mate i ended up buying one to test.

Heritage smelt a bit weird in the store

              • @AussieMark: Yeah they added mint and rosemary, which isn't as smooth or as appealing for me.

  • It's 10% off from regular price? As they're having a 3 day 10% off deal going on.

I'm assuming the price wasn't $65 when you posted that?

      • Ozbargained,was same as CW

        • Thought so, everything is getting snapped up fast at the moment.

    • $65

    • Missed it…Would have preferred Amazon over CW…

      • Why?

        • +3

Gets delivered home quickly. And when the box is out at the front door it gives you a feeling of a winner. Kind of like you got a gift from yourself

      Just like the scent 😝

"One of the best men’s fragrances available."
Every skin is different so not sure if that is true but thanks for posting the deal….

    • +1

You could say that about taste and dominoes offers. Or the Roku gin offers, it's all relative I guess!

    • No it's not true. Not even close.

  • +1

what's the manufacturing date on this?

    • Released mid of 2019. Dont worry about the 36 months expiry date. That is just a myth

      • +4

Dont know about the 36 months you’re referring to - but perfumes, whether synthetic or of natural derivative, being chemical compounds (aromatic structures), do indeed lose the strength of their aroma/scent overtime. And this is obviously sped up by any exposure to heat, sunlight, vigorous shaking etc. So the age or date of manufacture of a perfume should be considered if you care about those details.

Especially Chemist Warehouse, they dont sell stock that eg Myer sells which is direct from the maker…CWH usually import their stock from Asia and other places at a cheaper price and then resell here. The product is not the same in my experience, they could be aged stock or maybe even a poor qc batch , i dont know - They just dont last as long. Test a high end perfume at cwh and it will last scarcely half the day…test the same thing at Myer or the original maker retailing their product (Eg dior) and the scent will stay for days.

Also lastly worth mentioning, on that note about longevity of scent - i wouldnt buy from cwh or any shop that displays/stores their stock/product in a place that can be in direct sunlight (so many cwhs do this). (Similar point - would be cautious if vitamins are stores on top of the shelf as excess stock, but just cm’s away from the heater).

        • +3

Complete rubbish but still someone think the earth is flat.

        • While you are correct theoretically all the scents that i have had way past their expiry have smelt the same and had the same potency so maybe just store them well and they'll be alright?

        • I have a 40yo bottle of Old Spice. Smells better and stronger than the current offering.

  • And its an EDP which means it has more perfume meaning longer lasting and stronger.

    • +1

In most cases yes. But this one has a low to moderate SPL ( sillage, projection and longevity)

  • +8

Almost ran out of the CK for my toilet. Might get this

  • -1

    Poor silage on these

    • +1

Didn't think one would get a good silage crop yield from this.. ;-)

Silage (/ˈsaɪlɪdʒ/) is a type of fodder made from green foliage crops which have been preserved by acidification, achieved through fermentation. It can be fed to cattle, sheep and other such ruminants (cud-chewing animals).

  • The Homme is better performing.

    • +7

      The homme is better parfuming

  • +1

    Reviews sounds pretty underwhelming.
The scent profile looked good, performance and sillage pretty terrible.

Might give this one a miss.

  • Great stocking filler. Thanks OP got a few for the fam

  • Is this as bad as Acqua Di Gio in terms of how much people seem to douse themselves in?

    • No. It is actually hard to find. People seem to confused this with Joop Homme in the red bottle which was released in the 90s

    • Acqua Di Gio is bad? It cost $100+

      • Not bad. Just not exciting enough…was and is still massively popular.

        • I still have my bottle from 2009

      • Its a nice office scent but cool water is not that far away from it as a cheapie. So many aquas to choose from.

      • People who use it don't seem to know when to stop putting it on themselves. It's very strong and assaults the senses.

        • True, I too find it a bit strong but it cost me $110 so I thought strong scent are in favour

          • @Homr: I'm not saying it smells bad or anything, but it's very overpowering.

Still, it's a very dated scent.

        • Acqua Di GIo (the original) is not strong at all, it's a skin scent after 30 mins for me. Profumo though is excellent, you go anosmic to it quickly but i've had positive comments at the end of the day. This is by far my most complimented fragrance and I love it. Original has been watered down too much.

  • Is it stronger than

    • David Beckham Intimately for Men Eau de Toilette Spray
    • Calvin Klein Obsession for Men Eau de Toilette Spray
    • Yes. But just a tad bit better. Good for 3-4 hours

  • +1

    For the undiscerning individual.

  • +2

I've tried most of the joops and this one is by far my favorite. Most of the other ones smell cheap and generic but this one is deep and spicy like gingerbread? Dunno if that makes it christmas-y i always kinda considered it to be a cold winter cosy vibe. Doesn't seem to last super long. I'm no expert on fragrences however this one stands out from the handful i've tried as a bit unique. If i had food flavored like it smells i would eat it. Maybe i'm just hungry? Smells nothing like those super potent musky club fragrances all the kids wear.

  • +3

Tried this one a couple of days ago, really nice… smells NOTHING like the OG Joop, much more mature - reminded me a lot of Viktor Rolf Spicebomb. Just a very light spray lasted a good couple of hours. Ridiculous value here considering it's 120ml. Thanks OP.

  • Any good deals for the wife?

  • Literally avant garde axe

  • What’s this like compared with the regular Joop Homme in the pink bottle?

The regular homme has been my go to for years as it really seems to suit me.

    • A bit muted, not as sweet. But quite smoky

  • Spend $9 more and get a much nicer summer fragrance instead - https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/66848/burberry-summe…

  • +2

Armaf at $44.99 is a good price too

    • Might get another bottle.

    • Nasty stuff. Horrid! Get a sample of Aventus rather than this stuff. Ive had many negative reactions to it. Honestly not a big fan of Aventus either, but it is far superior to this stuff which smells like bug spray/chemicals.

      • +1

Opening is sharp but dry down is excellent! Batches of cdnim do vary though.

  • Dunno if this is a bargain or not, but Joop! Jump is a decent alternative to Chanel Allure Homme Sport. Has very similar notes. Obviously not as good but for ~$35 for 200ml you can't really go wrong.

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/69820/joop-jump-200m…

    • was $26 recently for the 200mls. Not a bad buy but very sweet smelling

    • Allure Homme Sport is a creamy mandarin or orange citrus scent with a musky dry down. Joop Jump was more musky on first spray without the mandarin or orange.

      • or the price tag

Seeing Joop takes me straight back to year 11/12
