Anyone Else's Car Insurance/Green Slip Cost Go Down? Is That Normal?

Just got the renewal notice from my company and my green slip providers, both quotes have gone down from last year. Is that normal?

Or is it Covid related? Haven't submitted any exemptions yet but it helps out our situation a bit. Or Is it a loyalty thing? Or is it a car getting older/less valuable thing?

Admittedly one was only down by $0.50 but the other was about down by 9%.

Rather appreciated when most costs are rising.

  • Could be a number of things
    - you could have just ticked over a loyalty discount threshold
    - you could have ticked over time related factors (age, how long you've had your license for, how long it's been since your last non-recoverable claim, etc)
    - got another policy with the same company and qualified for multi-policy discounts
    - suburb you're in had a risk profile improvement (if the 9% drop was the car insurance)

    • Hmm. I'll check into point 1, thanks for the others.

  • The number of claims filed over the previous 3 years had dropped to zero and my premium was lowered significantly. The next year it went up again, loyalty tax.

    • Gee okay loyalty doesnt really get rewarded.
