Sony 40" Full HD LCD TV only $549 at Dick Smiths

511

Seems like a good deal, an quick internet check showed this at higher prices elsewhere, it is Full HD and has some sort of Internet feature (which I don't understand - so I've copied the info below from the listing). Also I'm not sure about the expiry date, so the one I have listed is just made up.

"The Sony 40 Inch FHD LCD TV KDL40CX520 has the new X-Reality™ picture engine for superior picture quality, as well as, state-of-the art Sony Internet TV features including BRAVIA Internet Video.

X-Reality™ Picture Engine
Sony's advanced image processing engine analyses each scene to give optimum colour and contrast.

Enjoy great pictures, no matter the source
Don't let your enjoyment be hampered by low-resolution source videos. With Sony's exclusive X-Reality Engine, everything you watch - from HD movies to web videos - is analysed and selectively processed to give clean, clear, and lifelike pictures. While 3 unique noise reduction features work their magic prior to upscaling, Sony's Intelligent Image Enhancer divides the signal into four characteristics - texture, outline, contrast, and colour - and optimises each one individually for more vivid and distinct pictures.

Skype™ Ready
Make calls to other Skype users or even regular telephone numbers, even as you watch your favourite shows.

Make free video calls over the Internet
Keep in touch with friends and family easily by making and receiving Internet voice and video calls*2 from your television. All you need is a compact microphone/camera to make free Skype-to-Skype calls and low-cost SkypeOut calls to regular telephone numbers.

Remote Keyboard
Connect your TV to your VAIO for seamless navigation.

Easy TV control and text input
Use your VAIO keyboard to control your television and input text quickly and conveniently.

  • can someone please tell me how to get the moneyback co discount

  • +3

don't waste your time on moneybackco (or whatever they're called these days), use buckscoop instead

    • I have just registered a buckscoop account.

Don't know if it is tracking properly… and once I pay (using paypal), what are the next steps? confused

      *edit: http://www.buckscoop.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=4549

      1. Cashback is not available when you purchase a gift certificate. Cashback is very often not available when you use a discount code with your purchase

      2. Please be aware that many merchants will not honour cashback when a purchase has been made using a discount code. Some codes result in the cashback being attributed to another site/merchant. We are unable to pay you Buckscoop cashback in these cases. When we know of such cases, we do let you know. However, please be aware that merchants policies do change without warning.

Bing Lee is doing it for $499 via negotiate online if anyone wants instant gratification and don't want to wait for shipping. Their online price is $529 so you can try DSE or Harvie to price match/better it instore.

    • tried asking for $480? ahha

    • I just came in here to say $529 (plus delivery is only $6 for me). Didnt know about the negotiate feature. Seems interesting!

10% off for those with Woolworths discount cards too :D

    • Just be aware that if you pay the entire amount with Wish gift card, you won't be able to take advantage of the PayPal bonus.

The wise choice is to use gift card to pay the amount down to $200, and pay the rest with PayPal!

  • Any one know a good 6 stars TV ? i just getting an idea. thanks

  • TVs are certainly much cheaper than 2 years ago. Bought a similar-ish thing for $1400. KDL40v5500.

    • Back during 2005 or so, I bought a 50" Pioneer Plasma for $8000 on special…orginally RRP of $10,000.

Baffled at the dirt cheap prices of TVs nowadays.

I managed to grab one at Binglee for $449 + $6.73 shipping

I bought the 32" from the previous deal, so now i will have to return it to JB hifi =(

    Hope this helps others somehow.

  • that's amazing vooz! was that through the negotiate online deal?

  • i just tried and he refused to go lower than $470 =(

  • Oh noo

Now I regret purchasing the non-full HD 50" plasma for $499 last week :( This is so much better (besides the size,) and cheaper on top of it!

  • this video
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuvoL54t8EY

    says 100hz better for gaming
will give a slightly clearer picture

also with 100hz u get more option
    u can watch/game at 100hz or 50hz etc

    with this, no option

    any thoughts or comments?

    • Gaming is more than fine at 50hz.
Anything more than 100hz and many people seem to get motion sickness/can't stand the effect it gives.

  • My goodness…I paid over 900 few months ago from JB……Silly me!

  • Thanks for tipping us off on this deal - great price. I went in to Dickies today to check out the picture. They had the test match running on it so perfect to check out broadcast tv quality. It was an aweful picture and unwatchable for me, poor on motion and very blocky around silouette of the cricketers.
Once again thanks for the tip, the price is good for a Sony, maybe ok for the kids as a rumpus tv only.

    • That is an unfair analysis of the picture quality of the TV. TV broadcast quality is low already. You should not judge the bargain based on a low quality source. I doubt you will find a TV at this price or more that will actually make the picture better.
