What Is Your Gift Card Balance?

With the Zip deal running for the third week now I'm curious to see what's everyone's gift card balance?

Personally, I have:

$3,500 eBay
$850 Westfield
$4,000 Him/Her TCN cards
$500 Amazon
$1,000 Prezzee swappable cards
$500 Woolies
$500 iTunes

    $500 iTunes

    For what?

OP's side hustle is running a museum..

      Paying his tax debt?

      High yield investments.

      ATO debt payments.

  • $200 odd.

Wishlisted some $1000 worth of apps on the itunes store, so get them eventually. This whole year stores have been tight with a max of %15 off instead of the usual 20, granted the price matching of places got it to near enough with %19 off.

I’think its a bit much having a stockhold of gift card cash like that but i admit its convenient when a big app is needed. (People have their reasons, its cool, carry on!) :)

What a time to be alive.

    • A big app is “needed” for what?

      Wait… Bing?!

  • < $500 at anyone time if I pay with CC. <$100 if I pay with cash

The HIM/HER TCN GC are risky AF. I had 2/10 of mine suspended for no reason when I tried to use at JB.
By the time I got it sorted out the deal at JB was over :(

    • That sucks, haven't had any issues with mine

  • I've got $60 worth of JB-Hi-Fi cards that I don't know what to spend on.

    • Sell it… or buy some work from home gadgets! :D

zero dollars. Cbf fussing with them.

I'm in a similar situation. I like to read up on these deals to work out the best discounts as a mind exercise. But, when I consider the effort you need to go through to buy them, and in some cases the problems with redeeming them, it doesn't seem very attractive. For low-cost items they definitely aren't worth it, for high-ticket items I'm comfortable with negotiating a fair price up-front. Everyone's different.

      • Colesworth's (when available) aren't much work. The Woolies money app makes it easier than Coles
        .

  • Good haul @neilpatrickharris. I thought Westfield GCs were excluded from cashback. How did u manage that?

Didn't get it via Zip, I redeemed my ANZ reward points back in March to get the cards. They accidentally credited me 200,000 points instead of 100,000 points.

Just part of my balance now. You can also get westfield cards via woolies if you wanted to, just not directly from Westfield.

      • Ah cool story bro.

  • $3,500 eBay

What do you buy on eBay? Groceries? I don't think my cumulative eBay purchases added up to $2,000…

    • Cheap Chinese trinkets?

    • What do you buy on eBay?

      • Amazon isn't always the cheapest.

      • There's lots of items that Amazon AU doesn't carry & overseas Amazons won't ship to Australia (like DVDs from UK or France), and which can then only be bought from eBay.

    • Coles in on eBay.

I think there's a $50 Bunnings voucher left from my recent birthday.

    Weird flex but ok.

  • Money laundering?

  • That's a crazy ebay balance! I shop on ebay quite a bit but $3.5k? Also those TCN cards are dodgy as. If be really uncomfortable with $400, let alone 4k! What if they just change the T&Cs on you?

  • My company gave me a gift card for Christmas. I’m not even sure which one it is. Does that count? What the heck are all those high gift card balances for? How much do you spend on discretionary retail spending per year? To be honest I do nearly all of my shopping online these days besides grocery shopping. Gift cards just seem a nuisance for online shopping. I’m guessing you don’t have a mortgage.

  • Hahahaha so you locked your money away on gift cards of limited usage and restrictive time…. hahahaha

    • Digital money is the new hedge against inflation.

  • Can't use the Zip deal because my Smartphone doesn't have NFC. Bummer

  • What you can afford to put on it.

Wow, I sell more on eBay than what I’ve purchased haha. Having $10k in gift cards is kinda excessive but I guess every $$$ counts
