    The one you linked has individually addressable LED’s. Meaning it can have red in some parts, green in others to match the scene on the TV. That tech is still quite expensive to do and thus the price (on top of the big Philips Hue premium typically present).

    The ones in this deal only show one colour at a time. It’s much cheaper and easier to do. Still great for behind the TV for ambient lighting, which reduces eye strain, and improves the perceived contrast of your TV.

      Not so bad. Around $25 for a 5m strip and $5 for a controller such as NodeMCU

        Don't you need a controller that can pass through HDMI?

        Edit: I guess HDMI out could work but isn't universal.

    The one posted here has one colour for the whole strip. The one you posted allows different colours along the strip.
