I just bought the elite without wifi for $273.17 if you don't care about wifi.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07SVRZGMX

Seems they changed the price to $271.38

What's your point to save $15 on wifi? Sometimes you can utilize wifi to connect to your 5G if there isn't NBN to connect in suburban area

      • Huh? I didn't know you could connect to cellular network… Thought just local network!

      • +2

I had no idea you could do that. I just personally never use wifi on my pc so I'd rather save the $15.
But if you're someone who would rather have it then it's definitely worth the extra money.

You can't use AC WiFi to connect to 5G

        • I use my energy dome for 5G

Guessing you mean connect to a personal hotspot or 5G router?

  • what position should the antennas be pointed? Being sandwiched between USB ports makes upwards impossible. Sideways or V shaped is the only way you can do it.

I'm after a Pro wifi. What's a good price for it? Everywhere is $429 at the moment.

    • In a perfect theoretical world, towards the source of the router - but in the real world, with antennas of this kind. It makes (profanity) all difference. Point them whichever way suits your preference/lack of preference/OCD

Coming from an IT professional that has spent a stupid amount of time researching which way to point the antennas of shitty consumer grade wifi gear.

    The TUF is better though

    https://www.amazon.com.au/ASUS-TUF-X570-Plus-Motherboard-Lig…

But unless you need the second NVME to be PCIE Gen 4, a B550 is just a better option.

    e.g. https://www.pccasegear.com/products/52401/gigabyte-b550-aoru…

    • PCIE Gen 4 access to the 2nd NVMe slot is not all you lose on B550. All the B550 boards I looked at you lost either PCIe slot(s) or SATA ports.

This probably won't affect most people, to be fair, but better to give people all the info.

      • Ok, true.

But in return, you get a cheaper board with better build quality, better VRMs and better WIFI and LAN.

        • and the absolute worst antenna stand ever made.

@BL1TZKRE1G: It looks better than the one that comes with the x570 Elite (which I own).

            • @lolcoaster: I thought it looked good also.
After a few days of use, back in the mobo box it went.

              • @BL1TZKRE1G: what was wrong with it?

                • @lostn: The stand is shit, no magnet or proper way to securly mount it. Blow at it and it tips over.
Very happy with the motherboard otherwise and would recommend.

                  • @BL1TZKRE1G: don't they screw onto the receptacles on the I/O? Why do you need the stand?

                    • @lostn: Yeh 2 cables coming from the antenna plug into the I/O, which allows you to place it anywhere within the length of the cables, the shark fin won't stay upright without the stand, some magnetic backing would've been good.

        • Yeah … that's no good if your stuff doesn't work because ports/slots are disabled.

There are far too many threads on the InterNet where people have found their purchase has come up short because someone recommended an item without actually knowing what was needed.

  • Terrible mobo. I have this, bios is buggy AF. Even with qvl ram it will chuck the sads. Seems many of the gigabyte x570s are crappy/unstable thanks to poor bios.
