Just a FYI i'm not sure how important the charging/cleaning station is but some might just want to wait for the one that comes with it.
Recent post including station was: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/576958

    Still a good buy anyway.

  • Bought one, my Bruan 3 series sucks.

Having recently purchased one and just changed from Philips 9000 series due to numerous reviews claiming the closeness of the Panasonic shave, I can say the difference is nothing less than immense. I've never quite felt properly smooth with the Philips, and I've had top-end Philips shavers for about 20 years (had the Architec before that, and whatever the $600 shaver was before that). Don't get me wrong, Philips shavers have been fine - I shave every day and have no real complaints about roughness or even shaving closeness, having accepted that a wet shave will always be better.

But I no longer think that. In fact, the only time my skin has ever been this smooth has been the few times I've been stupid enough to wet shave against the direction of hair growth, which works a treat for about four hours, but after that my skin would break out for several weeks. The Panasonic gives me that kind of smoothness every time, with no skin irritation. It also takes me less than half the time - around five minutes, and that's going back and forth over the skin to make sure I've got absolutely every last bit of roughness. Not only is this hands down the best shaver I've ever used, it is a level of shaving I didn't even know was possible.

Do note you can purchase the latest model replacement head which will fit fine - it comes with little rollers the older model didn't have. I found them on AliExpress for about AUD$100 landed.

In summary, for under $150, if you don't have one you'd be insane not to. Some of the best money I've ever spent.

Wet shaving against the grain is standard. Just shave with the grain first, then against for a smooth finish.

  • I bought one for my dad.

It is the closest shave you will get from an electric shaver.

Make sure you don't lose anything. Panasonic charges a killing for spare parts. They wanted $75 + 16 delivery for a replacement charging cable. I ended up buying a second one for myself, because paying over $80 for a cable is ridiculous when paying double that gets you a new shaver and I can share the charger.

Of course he ended up finding the cable not long after I bought a second shaver… But its, ok. I like the shaver.

    • How much is the replacement foil?

        Amazon sells for about $100.

  • This or Braun series 5?

    • +1

This is way better than the braun s5. The s5 would clog and pull hair when I shaved. Would take multiple passes for a smooth shave.

The arc5 is so smooth and usually just take 2 to 3 passes for an extra close shave.

    • It depends on now thick your hair is, how frequently you want to shave and what your budget is. As someone with facial hair that is not thick and shaves daily/every second day - a series 5 is perfect for my application (I use a 5030S) and an Arc 5 would be overkill.
5 blade shavers such as this LV65 would benefit someone with a thick, coarse beard that wouldn't shave everyday the most.

    • I have the Series 5 and it works a treat. I've previously used and earlier version of the Arc5 and it was a great shaver however the blades didn't last anywhere near as long as Panasonic said. Foil recommended to be replaced every year and blades every 2 years. I was lucky to get 6 months out of the blades and the quality of the shave would deteriorate rapidly. Also the price of the Panasonic blades are more than twice the price of the Braun.

  • Bought this a year ago. Really did live up to the hype IMO.

I bought this last deal, and it's still in the box.

I need to avoid OzB, I use my One Blade and then shave as normal. I really should try it 😂

    • Would you like to sell it?

  • The price has gone up to $219

    • Seems to not be on sale anymore

    • Yep even though Camelx3 still shows the lower price

  • After using top of the range Norelco for 8 years, this performed like a ninja sword on my beard. Hands down, one of the best shaver in the market. I have absolutely no regret with my purchase from day 1 and this price is good too.

  • Sale is over, $191.25 now.

That was a very short lived sale.

  • How about Braun 7 or 9? Thanks

    • I’ve got the 9. Amazing shave. Though i cannot compare to this as I’ve never used the arc

    Got Band 28 ?

  • I'm still using a $10 phillips shaver I bought years ago through a deal posted on here. Its not great if you don't shave every day as it pulls hairs and takes ages but at least I am putting my eneloops to use🙂

  • I contacted Amazon support about it coming with a US wall plug instead of AU and was issued a partial refund of $20. Might be worth trying your luck as well.
