Thank you!, got it using CyberGhost VPN 1 day free trial (after having issues with other free VPNs)

    • How do you get 1 day free trial? I downloaded cyberghost but didn't get the trial.

  • +2

Was the VPN not the card that was causing the problem

Windscribe (free) worked instead of NordVPN (paid) with ING

    • +1

Thank you. This method worked for me.

  • +2

    +1 to above posts
    CyberGhost (free) with westpac worked
    Surfshark (paid) did not.

  • So spotify premium also offers unlimited headspace for free- what's the difference between this and headspace?

    • How did you manage to get headspace with Spotify?

    • +1

Not available in Australia though + it isn't free, it's a separate plan that costs extra over the standard premium after 3 months unless you're a student

      • I see - i think the person i was planning to gift it to was using a spotify uk account, hence had already a free headspace acct that comes with. Thanks for the response!

  • +2

No Luck with SURFSHARK (paid) + Combank.

Now I have a pending sale on my credit card that is stressing me out!

  • Ah damn card got blocked for suspicious activity and now gotta wait till 6am for Up support to get online :/

    • Alright finally got it to work

Cyberghost vpn trial + Up card, $95.84 all up

Showed up in the calm app immediately :)

  • -1

Tried with Surfshark premium & nordvpn both with 28degrees & CommBank was rejected. Loaded up the page so it showed the payment as TRY 532 (A$95) and then disconnected vpn and hit confirm leaving my card details exactly as they were and it charged me $219.99…. will have to try and refund it somehow and retry.

    Edit: The website says

Lifetime memberships, lifetime gift cards, and 1-year gift cards are not eligible for a refund.

Put in a request anyway, no way they can refuse it under ACL

    • +1

Bit rich trying to claim under ACL when pretending to live in Turkey to get a cheaper rate.

      • -1

Well it has gone through as an Australian purchase for $219 AUD as their store isn't smart enough to separate out the transaction. Was not given an updated cart screen or confirmation screen showing it as $219 anywhere, the purchase just went through immediately. Before clicking the buy button the screen was showing TRY 532.

        • Credit card chargeback

          • @UrbanLegend: If I chargeback they might disable my girlfriend's account though, was trying to get the deal for her. Don't know much about what gets tracked as I've never used calm before. Would it make a difference if she has to start over on a new one?

  • +1

Worked with CBA CC through SmartDNSProxy/Getflix. Thanks OP!

Tried a number of times with AU and an international CC through Nord before that but was having no luck at all (must have tried 10+ times).

  • +2

Tried many times with my existing account which I noticed had a free trial 'til Feb '21. Tried Macquarie and Up a number of times each. Decided to try creating a new account, tried Up once, didn't work. Tried Macquarie once and it worked.

Other people have had success with Up, so I think it was just the lucky time (and I think the new account). I did only put $97 in each account, so the failures may have been that it tried to take $220. I think its probably easiest to start with a fresh account and recommend not having > $200 for them to take.

Used NordVPN paid account for all of the above.

Edit: I just remembered, I also told Macquarie before I did it that I was travelling to Turkey today and returning tomorrow.

    • I used mobile and Chrome incognito.

  • +2

Worked - CyberGhost VPN free 7 day trial via iOS AppStore with AMEX. No Mr/Mrs etc

  • +1

it charged me $220, is there a way i can get a refund? lol

    • +1

nope. I asked support and their reply was "NO refunds on lifetime deals"
Very scammy tbh, despite not even using the app, they refuse to refund.

      • +1

Can't you do a credit card charge back?

  • +2

ok - so tried multiple times with Nord (Paid ) + CBA CC - no luck

What worked and went through in one go with same combo - below

    Activate Obfuscated mode on NORD
on Windows - settings-> Auto Connect-> Choose a VPN Protocol and server auto - set to off
VPN Protocol set to OPEN VPN (UDP)

Advanced -> Obfuscated Server -> On

CBA Card settings - Online and in-store foreign transx allowed and payment limit reduced to $100/charge (didn't want to get charged $220 like some other folks :-)

went through in first go - hope this helps!

  • Windscribe free VPN through app store worked instantly for me, it was really slow so just need to be patient.

  • +2

I spent a good hour on this! Tried multiple VPN's (surfshark paid, express vpn trial, windscribe). Tried on Android and Windows. Tried multiple cards from ubank, citibank, even a transferwise card I have. Retried probably 100 times all up because someone said above they needed to try it 40 times before it worked.

Finally worked first time when I used Windscribe on Windows with my citibank card. Who knows why.

So it seems to be more to do with the VPN than the card (as someone said above).

Good luck everyone - hang in there because this deal is worth it! Thanks OP!

  • Worked with 28 Degrees card on Windscribe for me. Then tried to subscribe my partner and had to change to CyberGhost to get it to work again.

  • I got reject twice with my BankWest and CBA card, maybe cause of the 3D security / code needed for international transactions?

Amex worked first time no dramas.

I use a dodgy VPN called Seed4VPN but it works for me.
    This was at 5pm yesterday.

I got charged 98AUD cause I had to pay Amex $3 for the forex transaction fee.

Well worth it in my opinion.

Btw, I tried 3 different regions for a laugh to see if Turkey was the golden goose. Lol

Brazil and Argentina both came up at $160USD, so Turkey is indeed the cheapest by a long shot.

  • Tried ExpressVPN + Hay Bank initially without success.

Then tried CyberGhost VPN 1 day free trial (make sure you use new email account to take advantage of trial) + Hay Bank and it went through @ A$95!

    Thanks OP

  • $96 with ING Orange One

  • Thanks OP,

    Took me a few attempts.
It worked on Windscribe + ING. It didn't work with Amex or my Westpac credit card.

  • Payment went through. Got an email that I was charged TRY 532 but I can't see how much was charged in my AMEX account. Not even in the pending area. Anyone with same issue?

  • missed out on this. Is there a free alternative until its back on sale?

    • +1

Are you sure it expired? When I click the link it still shows the deal

    • +1

I redeemed this offer just now, worked fine for me. Used nordvpn. Connection was horriblly slow (not sure if VPN or website) but it came through fine. Showed as TRY 532.

  • it's free for a year for AMEX customers

  • I redeemed this offer just now, worked fine for me. Used nordvpn. Connection was horriblly slow (not sure if VPN or website) but it came through fine. Showed as TRY 532.

  • Hey guys what's your favourite part of daily calm?

  • Used nordvpn and amex and got charged $220

  • Worked fine just now (12:30am 2nd Jan) using NordVPN and a Commonwealth Mastercard. Was charged roughly $94AUD.

  • $94.31 with latitude

  • Purchased once but thought it too dear yearly - however at this price - purchased for life
    Thanks OP

  • Tried and works still first time on NordVPN and ING card! Amazing deal thanks

    • When did you purchase it? Today 4/01/2021?

      • Nah when I posted the comment so 3/01/2021

  • It's still available. I can't report it again as I did previously when it came up as expired.

    • +1

      Done 😃

  • Weird - I got charged $95 via AMEX, but it showed my available credit limit decreasing by $190ish. I asked AMEX support and they told me I also had a pending charge of TRY531.99… And told me to contact the merchant AKA Calm to fix this… Anyone run into this problem?

  • Just a heads up - every reject card has been charged….I've just seen I've been charged four times…trying to claim money back now

  • This just went through using windscribe and a coles prepaid mastercard.

I tried the exact same combo about 10+ times (along with others) throughout the previous week to no avail, decided to give it another shot today and it unexpectedly worked!

  • Worked first time for me nordvpn+ing

  • Strangely, I put my order through on the 30th with my amex, all golden.

Checked my card statement today and Calm refunded it on the 6th - though the app still says I've a lifetime subscription…

    Anyone else experiencing this?

    • Yep. Same thing here. Refunded on the 5th. Still showing as Lifetime subscription on app and website. I'd say they will be cancelling accounts soon or something

      • Bugger

        • Oh well. Keep accessing while we still can I guess. Would be good to hear if others from this deal are experiencing the same

          • +1

            @brightside: Same boat here.

Did y'all sign up for the 7 day trial just before doing the Turkey VPN / lifetime deal thing? And then cancel the free trial right after that? Based on the timing of when the refund came - and the fact that everything still looks fine within the app - I'm wondering if cancelling the trial has somehow triggered the refund through some technical screw up on their end.

            • @Gustave: Nope. I created an account whilst signing up through the lifetime deal.

              • +1

@brightside: Huh. Well there goes that theory then.

I don't really understand why the subscription wouldn't have been 86ed by now if the refund really was them flagging hijinks. But I guess we're playing with house money now, so I'll just keep my head down and enjoy it however long it lasts.

    • Just noticed the same on my CC ($95.41 charge, $94.88 refund 7 days later) … account still says lifetime sub. If this sticks, it will make up for Telstra not honoring the 31,000point Note20 deal xD

  • +1

Signed up yesterday using Cyberghost (free trial) + citibank card (A$94). App is showing the lifetime membership and also got an email invoice confirming the lifetime membership at cost of TRY 532
    Fingers crossed it stays working!

  • Deal worked for me. Paid ~$95 and used the CyberGhost VPN as suggested above. Thanks OP!

  • Deal worked for me. Followed others advice and used CyberGhost VPN trial and limited my CBA CC to $100. Total cost $99.31
