Seems like a decent price, GST is included in the price but Banggood will charge you for postage and insurance. You don't need to pay for insurance if you don't want to.

This is the global version and according to the Poco website it should have band 28 so don't get your knickers in a twist.
MIUI is what it is, i currently have a mi mix 3 5G and the MIUI is okay its stable and offers heaps of features, the camera app is good but id probably install Gcam on the X3. I have Gcam on my mix 3 and some shots are better but the stock camera app does well.

Most of you will probably use a custom rom any ways i am going that now with the mi mix as Xiaomi stopped offering updates.

    What is xiaomi security update commitment like? I know Samsung have recently announced a minimum 3 years security updates on their Galaxy line up from s20 series onwards.

      All major Android do 2 years OS updates and 3 years security updates, or they are supposed to.

      My experience is that Nokia is the best at doing quick updates other than Google themselves. Samsung were horrible with updates for my original Galaxy, S2 and S4 4G, that's when I gave up on Samsung, the last Samsung being a freebie with a server purchase. LG also let me down, a "new" phone on clearance from Aldi didn't even get one update at all from LG, that was very, very poor indeed.

      I believe that the manufacturers should be forced to do 5 years to give the mobiles a lot less TCO (total cost of ownership), most mobiles are good for 5 years hardware wise and it's only, perhaps, the battery that might be a problem; updates, especially security ones, should be a priority for the full 5 years… but I can only dream on that. That is one area where Apple excels, it's about time (actually long past time) for Samsung and others to follow suite.

      I would be hesitant in buying any mobile these days unless there is strong commitment to updates or I'm going to go for a reasonable Nokia choice. That is, unless I end up getting a Pixel 4a (without 5G) at a good price and then I'll run Graphene OS on it to get a bit more life out of it as well as security and privacy.

        i have nokia and get monthly updates, love android one and wish more phones did the android one program. i’m currently on android 10 and am due to get 11 in the next few months.

        i used to own xiaomi phones ( owned 2 ) was great hardware for the money but updates and support was poor so i switched.

      I can't say seeing as the mi mix 3 5G was meant to be a flagship and they stopped support because of not enough sales. I do get security patches still every few months.
      I bought one of these Poco X3 for my partner as she broke the screen on her Mi 9T (k20) that was still getting regular updates .
      I'd rate my experience better than my LG V20 lol.

        Very weird, because the non 5g mix 3 is getting regular updates.
        Maybe it's best to only buy Xiaomi phones made for the Chinese or Indian market

          Yea I guess it's a weird phone to start with as it's the mi mix 3 with an updated cpu to support 5G. I have to say it's still a great phone the best sounding phone I've owned audio wise. Camera is still good.

      They've been good for me.
      Had mi max 1 and 2, and currently using mix 3 until my poco arrives.

      My mix 3 (non 5g) has got very regular updates. It seems the 5g variant got update issues, but the base has been quick and often among the first of their offices to get all updates.

      I plugged in my max 1 to use a backup when I broke the mix 3 screen, and found that it too had got a recent update, security and recent miui update, which was very surprising considering it was a average selling mid range phone from ages ago.

      As far as Android has gone for me, Xiaomi have been the best for updates.
      Though I can only compare against Samsung and LG for that.

      .. and Apple. But I learned very quickly with my Apple phones that if it was currently working fine - NEVER UPDATE IT. Holy (profanity) updating with Apple was a nightmare every single time. (profanity) the guaranteed updates, they break every single thing.

        The Mi Max 1 is on Mui 10 but on top of Android 7 only. Still get good newer Mui features though and I like the OS.

    Our Mi 9T Pro got Android 10 about 3 months before our (Android One) Nokia 5.1+.

    If you don't like Miui 12, look at Poco or Nova launchers.

    Oh and YMMV with GCam, it's very good on the 9T.

          What is battery warranty?
          There is no warranty in reality. The cost of return postage is expensive and they are under no obligation to fix or replace your item. There are no consumer rights with items purchased outside of AU.
          It is common for some to say they found no fault and you must pay for the return postage.
          Usual scenario is that you get the phone back (maybe?) and it still has the fault but you are out of pocket for two expensive postage charges.
          They rely on frustrating you until you give up.
          That is the price you pay for the low cost compared to buying here. Usually the items are very reliable and you dont need warranty.
          You can purchase in AU if you want ACL protection and a usuable warranty. The extra cost is your choice.

          Cost of battery replacement?
          Very unlikely you will need to replace it.

          Could non tech owners replace the battery?
          Seen it done in other Xiaomi phones. Check youtube for how to's.

          Poco X3 NFC owner here 128Gb model purchased from Amazon UK, running Xiaomi EU custom ROM atm (was running Resurrection Remix 8.6.5 before).

          2. While 33W charging is great when in a hurry, I never charge my Poco with original charger. Instead, I use 18W charger for slow(er) charging. Battery degradation depends on many factors. I charge my phones to 80% to extend battery life.
          3. Battery warranty isn't specified on Amazon page.
          4. Don't know and don't care. Expect to replace the phone well before battery dies.
          5. You need to research it.

            @vrsac: Received my poco X3 NFC 12.0.4.0 QJGMIXM from Banggood on 13/1/21 in good condition as advertised.

            The Poco instruction booklet about the placement of sim 2 is inaccurate, the beveled edge should be diagonally opposite the displayed diagram, I suppose this is to be expected by CCP QC.

            Deactivating adds, is Not straight forward. Firstly the guides & YouTubes are mostly out of date, which begs the question about standards, how can the net be kept uncluttered and up to date?

            The 33W charger becomes an unsteady " power tower " when you connect the supplied AU electrical plug/adapter. Any options other than tape, super glue or replacement?

            YouTube has a reasonable strip down of Poco X3 .

            Any suggestions on reliable intelligible sites would be appreciated.

              @CheepAsChips: Edit: not sure if this means anything at all, but the phone was not in a sealed box that is no white seals on the supplied Poco phone box as depicted in some YouTubes about unpacking the Poco X3.
              Also the phone did not have a removable plastic protector over the screen, but was in a plastic bag.
              Battery was at 65% charge.

                @CheepAsChips: Perhaps tampered with via supply chain, including customs or border force security or related??? Maybe just refurbished or just the firmware updated for you….

                Who knows, perhaps ask your supplier if they know why it wasn't packaged properly "as new".

    Looking a good bang for buck phone too keep as second ,as I do fifo with limited reception incase my first one shits itself and have to do banking or keep in touch with family, around $300 budgeting ,never had one of chinese phones ,spec's look great ,is there any nokia alternative ?or something with au warranty or support comparable? cheers

      You have NOTHING to worry about with this phone.
      My wife loves it and it trounces my old Mi Max 3 for everything except screen and battery size.
      The camera is awesome for the price, hard to believe actually.. it also has some awesome effects such as Clone and both front & rear video recording at the same time.
      NFC is super quick for payments and B28 is great for Telstra/Boost customers.
      I'm not a lover of MIUI, however it's not an issue on the Poco and works well.

    This has ads baked into the OS, and the camera is just OK, by 2020 standards, not a proper quad cam at all. And you wont get it for a while. I'd suggest the Realme 6, if you want something similar, but with local warranty & support, no ads and a slightly better camera, though its around $100 more.

    • plastic backing isn't an issue when in a case
    • haven't had it long enough to see dust around the camera - have already installed a camera protector, not sure if that will help

        Warranty? Banggood are pretty useless for warranty according to most reports. If you pay with PayPal you at least have cover for first 90 days, but after that, you are pretty much on your own.

    The main camera on the X3 has actually blown me away. The quality is very decent for the price. That is for the main camera only, the rest of them are pretty trash.

    very impressive and great phone, wide and main cameras are far better than reviews suggest, even with standard mui cam app which is excellent, full manual mode etc, much better than the stock android one. audio from the headphone jack is also outstanding and hi res capable, quality lower impendence cans sound great. have had mine for several months and done a few trips with it, the only down side not covered in reviews is that the 4g signal strength is sub par, so not a great phone for marginal reception areas, (where any huawei phone will shine). the adds are super easy to switch off, just follow the guides online. ive added a 37mm polarizing filter to my camera which is a neat fit in the various cases with circular camera cutouts. I can also use extra macro enlarging lens via 37-49mm adapters to use the main cameras for close ups, rather than rely on the tiny 2mp built in one. night shots are also much better than reviews suggest if you use correct modes. if you only have a $300 budget you simply wont find a better phone imo. Ive used many phones at 3x the price and this competes or exceeds in all areas except signal strength in poor areas.

        I should also have added that the earpiece speakers and mics are super clear on calls, and the 120hz scrolling makes the screen a joy to use just like my ipad pro. occasional glitch where screen wont go into full outdoor bright mode, but its rare and likely fixed in future updates.

        also, unlike many off brand cheaper china phones like oppo, etc, the energy saving permissions tweaks are persistent and reliable, so you can get watch companion apps to work reliably without missing notifications etc and ebay notifications on time etc. the mui does not constantly reset the permissions and put apps you want alive into deep sleep, probably because the battery is so huge and long lasting they dont see the need. This alone is a big factor in me keeping this phone a s a daily driver above expensive band name phones.
