[Switch] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition $55.96 (30% off) @ Nintendo eShop

180

Equal lowest price (according to Deku Deals) for this great game.

85% on Metacritic:(https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/the-witcher-3-wild-hu…)

Appears to run quite well on the Switch: https://www.polygon.com/2019/10/15/20915391/witcher-nintendo…

Someone commented in a previous deal that a recent patch has improved performance. It also allows for cross-platform saves, so you can take your PC save on the road! Switch Up on YouTube looked at the improvements that came in the patch: https://youtu.be/XqtRK7EAMgM

About to add it to my ever-increasing pile of shame!

  • Will this ever drop below $50 for the Switch?

    • No never

    • I am waiting for this to go to 50% off. Not short of other games at the moment so no rush.

I'm currently playing through The Witcher 3 on PC (yes I'm a bit late to the party hehe), and I also own a Switch.
It is such an amazing visual and immersive experience, driven by great story telling and an amazing world, I'm not quite sure it would be as enjoyable playing on the Switch screen.
And if you play docked on the big screen you may as well play on better hardware?
Perhaps if it were cheaper on Switch, but you can pick it up for much less on PC or other consoles.
    Am I missing something?

Either way thanks for posting OP :)

I play in bed. Yes, its not as pretty as PC, but more convenient to just play and put down. I have it on my gaming laptop too which i can use in bed too, but still lots of piss farting around to setup

HD texture and a meshes mod, improves visuals of Witcher 3 while keeping the asthetics of it.

    • +1

Indeed. Plus there's quite a few mods that make the game look substantially better (HD Reworked Project, Clouds, White Orchid Lighting Everywhere, Nosferatu, No Dirty Lens, No Water Droplets, Toxicity Clean Face and Screen, etc…)

However, the primary reason not to get it on Switch is that you can't use the "Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition" mod, which greatly improves the games otherwise broken combat system. But for people who only own a Switch, they don't have much choice.

It will still be enjoyable, but on more capable systems it's like comparing Breath of the Wild to Zelda Ocarina of Time.

OoT is a great game, but Breath of the Wild is jaw droppingly beautiful. There are lots of games with good graphics, but few have amazing graphics and a rich, well designed world like Witcher 3 that the graphics help bring to life.

I was very close to getting it on Switch to play for the first time, but after extensive research, decided to play on another platform. I explained more here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/9903815/redir

Witcher 3 runs well on Switch, but the Switch does no justice to the amazing atmosphere a more capable system can create. If you've played on another platform and want it portable, go for it. It actually looks great portable, since the small screen hides the issues and has cross-save with Steam.

If not, I'd try play it on PC, PS4, or Xbox. You can always get it on Switch after that, and by then the price will have dropped.

If you compare what it looks like on Switch vs other platforms, while the port is great, there's no comparison. It's one of the best games of the decade and it deserves to be played in it's full potential.

Plus they're apparently working on a graphics upgrade for the game. Not sure if it's a patch or a new HD version, but either way, the Switch won't be able to run that.
