Just wondering if anyone has ever had any luck with getting OW/JB/HN to honour previous specials.
I know this is a weird one but I was holding out another year with my pixel 2xl but it recently had an encounter with a large wave and is kaputt.
Now I am SOL with getting a 4a 5g at $650.
Anyone from the community had any experience with getting an expired deal?
Have you tried asking JB Hi-Fi what their best price is for the Pixel 5/seeing whether they'll sell for $900? It's only $99 off the RRP.
I'd try aim for $750 though as that's what Telstra were selling them for on Black Friday

@jstar168: So did you end up getting it at full price? I'm also in the same boat - want to get Pixel 4a 5g but missed the good deals last month. Might pop by JB HiFi tomorrow. At the very least I suppose you can get 3% cashback by buying the JB HiFi gift card via Shopback and use that to pay for the phone.

@kerfuffle: Oh. It's pro-rata over the duration of the 24 month plan you have to sign up for. If you leave early then you pay the difference. Not the outright discount I was thinking it would be LOL

I just called JB Hifi and they took $150 off Pixel 5 for me, in case that interests you.
Couldn't do any better on the Pixel 5 4a 5g though.
Which store was that may I ask? I tried two JB HiFis and one said $90 off for Pixel 4a 5g (though no stock) and another said $100 off pixel 5. Depends on your luck I guess. Their sales agent said the boxing day deals had good discounts as they were supplier run discounts. Also said they have no idea when the next supplier run sale may occur as they're only advised the previous day.
Copy pasting my answer from another post and adding a few more details -
Telstra has $250 welcome credit for a pixel 4a 5g ($66ish pm for 12 months) if you opt for a post paid plan ($55 pm is the lowest). I suppose you could port out to a cheaper service after two months and use the $250 credit to pay off the device.
Edit > Theoretically this should work and their online support agent confirmed this (you end up getting the phone for around $660ish).
However ended up not going this route myself as I got a little confused at the Telstra store when they said it needs to be purchased outright (contrary to their website) and $250 credit can't be refunded to your bank acc after cancelling. If you're going to try it, make sure you go for the monthly device repayment plan.
Also double check with Telstra support again to be on safe side.
