After speaking with Bing Lee online, apparently this means they have no stock at all.

      • Yeah I spoke with them online and the nearest store was in Armidale or somewhere.

        I'm in Sydney

I was considering replacing my trusty old 800ES when it died with one of these and ended up with a Gaggia New Classic Pro for $634 (currently $719 for the stainless steel model) earlier in the year which pulls infinitely better coffee. There was enough spare change to pick up a second hand conical burr grinder to go with it too.

    • Damn, it's out of stock. I would consider upgrading to this thing, but I'm a bit wary of doing the recommended mods to this thing, since it does add more cost to it.

    • Yep been thinking a Gaggia is what I want to upgrade my machine too :)

    • How exactly does it 'pull a better coffee'?

That's like saying, 'the machine at Cafe A pulls a better coffee than the machine at Cafe B'

They both have water tanks. They both have portafilters. They both have steam wands. It's the person making the coffee, not the coffee machine.

Just say the Gaggia is easier to use.

      • Technically true for high end machines.. the grinder and barista make a bigger difference than the machine..

But high end machines these days can make a difference with pressure profiling etc

The dual boiler is what I would consider entry level as far as home machines go..
It at least has a proper boiler and not a thermoblock

    • The Gaggia Classic Pro or the Breville Bambino Plus. I've been considering both these.

My trusty Sunbeam Em7000 has finally given up, and these new twin boiler machines are quite large in comparison. I don't necessarily need a twin boiler, so happy to look at a machine that will maintain quality for me, as well as go the distance.

      • I had a Gaggia and upgraded to this Breville. With the gaggia, it only has a thermostat to control temperature. It means you're pulling shots with a wide variance in temperature so you're coffee will taste different everytime and I got sick of it. I developed a routine to get that temperature right but it is too bothersome especially if you just finished steaming milk and want to brew an espresso again. It is a good machine don't get me wrong and built like a tank. But if you want consistency, the Breville with PID is the best bang for money. Get an extended warranty.

    $799 this time last year!
    Year before $699!

COVID 19 price rise isn’t a joke. Those free money handed out will be repaid slowly and eventually by all consumers.

    • but DJs say it was $1999??

      • 😂😂

    • covid tax

      • Yeah it's getting ridiculous. I bought a pair of ASICS the other day. $209. Every other time last year they were $149.

Consumers are paying atleast a $50 premium on everything they buy.

Oh and dont get me started on TVs! $1000 covid tax.

Bought my son a bike yesterday, $50 premium than last year.
