  • Neat idea, but I was expecting better execution.

Got one from the original Kickstarter. They're only worth 13.50. Mines still in the box. Another dust collector 🤷‍♀️

      was that van gogh?

i agree on the value but it's the same with pop vinyls etc; they all retail for much higher then they resell for.

van gogh and kahlo in particular never seem to go on sale.

dali, da vinci, magritte and monet do i think but seemingly only very occasionally.

If they have no appreciation value why buy them ?

Plenty of other thing out there that do appreciate historically .

    • they may appreciate eventually. i mean every collectible goes up and down in value.
      if youre interested in them as an investment collectable then my advice would be;
      a) macro diversify - dear lord don't just buy collectibles of course
      b) micro diversify - if you do decide to invest partially in collectibles, don't just get dolls
      c) mini diversify - multiple brands and models, some popular some not (popular more in demand, not popular rarer)
      d) the more expensive in the first place, often the rarer and higher later
      e) don't open them
      f) place the entire packaging inside a protective hard case such as this one for pop vinyls https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/toys-and-collectibles/263… (not sure where you could find one to fit Today Is Art Day) to protect the box from scratches and dents.

but i don't like doing much of any of that myself. i like to play with my toys. you can buy things for fun.

Does the Marie Curie one glow in the dark?

    • +1

Her tomb is at the Pantheon in Paris. We peeked through the gate and no glow. I, suspect her coffin is lead lined though.

I would purhaps have chided you for your bad taste, if it weren't for the fact that van Gogh comes with a detachable ear and interchangeable bandage. Sadly they missed a real opportunity there with Curie. I was also a little disappointed that Tesla didn't come with a pidgeon.

      • `^ I didn't realise Tesla motors was named after this guy .
You might of had a winner if they didn't produce to demand based on how all official merchandise seems to be following the share price .

      • What can I say? Just wrong on so many levels.
