I was in JB Hifi the other day and saw they had the Sony Tablet S for $554 plus a free $100 PSN voucher which makes the tablet S for $454. You can sell the PSN voucher on ebay or possible back to the store if you don't need it. Not sure if this is a Sony's promotion or specific to JB Hifi and how long it would go for though.

The Sony Tablet S won the CES award for Best of Innovations Design And Engineering Honors for Tablets, e-readers and netbook category by Consumer Electronics Association for 2011-2012 and based on the CES website, judging was based on engineering and build quality:

"Entries for The Best of Innovations are judged on overall engineering qualities related to technical specifications and materials, aesthetics and design qualities, the product’s intended use and function, unique features and how the design and innovation of the product compares to others in the marketplace"

    Sony price their stuff like Apple, but they really don't have an edge since other tablets with same/better spec can be had… and they all run android.

      This time Sony did something different with their tablet.

      The tablet S is the only one in the market that comes inbuilt with an IR which you can use as a remote to your TV/Hifi. (I like this part ;-))

      But besides that, I would prefer to get a galaxy tab 8.9 or prime for that price.

    I really like the design of tablet, but that said bang for your buck it sucks, only a idiot would buy one. I might wait for it to flop and pick one up for $150 from the Sony clearance centre.

    I got some hands on experience with this recently. I dont know much about tabs but i compared this for a day against an iconia, and the others maybe be better but this was definately more fun to use. The sony tweaks were great and was easy to use and hook up to everything. If it were cheaper id be all for it. $680 compared to xoom for $380 is too much.
    For more bang for my buck,i think im going to go the xoom.
