325CCA? Geez, I'd need two strapped together!

Probably better off mentioning there's 25% off all Repco 30-40 month batteries

    • Thought as much reading, aren't they usually around 5-600?

Though I had a 1500 additional in my boot back in the day lol

CCA proportional to the number of plates/ Surface area. Less lead, less cost. I had a 270cca on my VX V6 commodore. It was ok, but I only got around 6 years out of one (normally get 10+ out of a battery) as I do frequent long trips and give it an extra charge mid summer (ie heat speeds up reactions and drains dormant batteries faster over summer).

    • Heat is a killer, in Darwin you are lucky to get more than 2 years out of a battery. My last one only lasted 18months with a top up with a CTEK smart charger every 6-8 weeks.

On my 4th Battery (replaced last week) in 4 years and 5 months of owning my CRV, luckily due to warranty only had to pay for one battery so far.

Yeah, Darwin would be tricky. Keep the charge rate as low as you can (I found my 7A CTEK tends to swell the plates, then you get a short), so now using a smaller CTEK. Keep above 12.25v minimum (I'd say 3 weeks to a month max in Darwin). If trickle charging, you would need to add water every 3 weeks (no such thing as a maintenance free battery, avoid these at all costs as U can't add water). Well you can, I broke one open and it was way low on water. Someone should do them for false advertising on 'maintenance free'.

        • Thanks mate, will try this with the new battery.

  • Example battery is very basic, that's alright. Discount is across range. I was about to get one but then I tested and the issue is the alternator. As luck would have it I had a spare I got off a wreck. Just 3 bolts to remove - after a couple of hours pulling the front end off to get to the 3 bolts that is.

Was pretty happy when I wandered into my local Repco yesterday with my first ever dead battery, and these were on sale. Saved me $40 :)
