  • Cost to unlock?

This is pretty easy to look up. Currently for Telstra phones:
If you've had it less than 6 months - $80
      If you've had it between 6 months and 2 years - $25
If you've had it more than 2 years - Free

Fun fact: Oppo A5 2020 was released in 2019.

Seems like a battery monster. Might throw my spare boost sim inside. Thanks OP

Reportedly the Snapdragon 665 is also an efficient processor in terms of power consumption and mid tier performance.

I've got an Oppo A52 with the same 665 SOC and 5000mAh battery, my last charge from 100% to 20% gave me a bit over 5 days with just over 6 hours screen-on time. Screenshot from accubattery: https://i.imgur.com/UfX8VEs.jpg

For my relatively light usage (mostly web browsing, sms and email) it's been fantastic for the price.
Just installed the OTA android 11 update last night also and it's had 3 android 10 security patch updates before that.

Accidentally responded to SonOfATightASS's reply to your comment. If battery life is a big factor for you then this SOC/Battery combo is excellent.

  • No nfc is rough!
Might be better off paying a bit extra for an unlocked A52, have had good experiences with one myself.

It has NFC (I have one and can confirm). Some pages incorrectly say it doesn't. This is single SIM only though.

Good deal at this price only if unlocked

  • Can you use a sim card from Aldi (Telstra network) with this phone without unlocking it?

    • +1

      No. But Boost probably?

      • ok, thanks.

      • What about belong sim, cheers

        • No, Belong is same as ALDI, uses a separate virtual network.

  • Ant comment on camera quality?

    • +3

Think this would be too big for ants to use. Probably why none of them have commented.

      • HAHA

      • Why did I read your comment in a Derek Zoolander voice?

  • This is essentially the locked version of the unlocked A9 (2020). Just bought the A9 from JB for $280 (negotiated). Only diff seems to be cameras: A9 has 48MP main camera, compared to 12MP for A5. Selfie cameras similar story. Maybe the flash LEDs too. Can confirm - A9 has NFC….and so far, battery is at 48%, from first charge, in end of third day, using about 14 hrs a day. Nice phone. See: https://www.techradar.com/au/reviews/oppo-a9-2020 for a review of camera - bought it for the missus to stream all day and take decent low light shots at birthday parties. • Is it Chinese made?

    • +1

Oppo are headquatered in Dongguan, Guangdong, China. So I presume the manufacturing occurs there too.

  • would a belong Sim work in this phone?

  • I am assuming Boost and Aldi and Woolworths would work on this phone. Please correct me if I am wrong.
