How Often Do You Change Your Bed Sheets?

This thread was inspired by a discussion on a mattress post from earlier.

It seems like there is a bit of a divide on how often sheets should be changed.

I know there are some gaps in the poll options such as between weekly and fortnightly. Choose whichever is closest.

How often do you change the cling wrap?

      • +1

Cling wrap might cost more and sticky

        • +1

Go with pallet wrap FTW… cost like $13 for a massive roll

      • Never, I wipe it down with a wet rag.

Before I was married, monthly. Since being married, weekly. But I have laid down the rule that fresh sheets must be, ahem, unfreshened at the earliest opportunity.

  • I'm using the same blanket when I first moved into my unit in 2006

  • Got a mate that buys a new budget set every 2nd week and throws the old ones out. Yep.

wait a sec, does he wash the new set before using them?

      • Not even.

He used to do same with socks and jocks many years ago.

        Yeah, he's special…

    • He is not an ozbargain worthy.

Next poll will be how often do you change your shower towel

  • My housemate often opt-out of using sheets on his mattress-only bed, you can imagine how gross the bed looks. Fun fact, he's 30, looks presentable and has a good government job, but his room is a real slum .

    • Sounds like mental illness to me.

Change sheets monthly and vacuum weekly… It's really annoying to change the sheets!!

  • +2

    Once every 4 - 6 months

  • Depends on how well my Fri/Sat night at the pub went.

  • Weekly/fortnightly depending on weather and any … stainage.

I'm honestly shocked at some of the people here. Sheets and towels go in the washing machine first thing Fri or sat morn (depends if wfh Friday for me). They dry that day. You get to enjoy crisp, aggressive towels and extremely clean sheets every week. It's great and takes all of ten minutes effort. Why wouldn't you do it?

  • This seems to have unearthed another question that people seem to be raising - do you put a towel down for play time? Maybe that convo isnt suitable for ozb though….

Do you mean exercise like yoga? Not sure why you would do that on the bed…

a bunch of y'all are some nasty (profanity). just sayin.

  • I always wondered why washing machines energy ratings use their frequency in testing as they do, now i know.

  • Heh i want to see this separate for male and female.

  • Single and dating = every week
Divorced = my ex took the sheets
New baby = all I want is sleep…. stop nagging Karen about the sheets.
Living at home = lucky to ever be home the magical unicorn changed them

  • Pillows weekly, sheets biweekly-monthly.

  • I'm married so once a month

  • I do it at the beginning of the month. I also always shower before I go to bed. I don't want my sheets to absorb all the dirt and grease I've accumulated throughout the day.

  • Every 30 mins

if you know what I mean
