Screenshot Webpage, How Do I Do This?

I have a laptop (like a desktop) and need to screenshot some things. Could someone kindly tell me how to do this please? My investment is not what it seems, webpage says monthly income, and I have discovered the income is actually part of my own money. I need to save this description before they change it, after I complain. Thanks

Oh geez i feel sorry for the 'investment company' employee who answers the query.

I guarantee the distribution was paid correctly and Karen hasn't been able to understand the product.

well we will see what asic thinks once I provide the screenshots

      • That's a shoe company though?! They won't be able to help you Pamela

        Look up how distributions work.
The money doesn’t miraculously appear on payment date, it comes out of the company and affects the unit price, the unit price is reduced and the distribution is paid. Next period the price appreciates and the process starts again.

        • It didnt come out of the company, it came from my own funds back to myself. The unit price has remained the same. The thing I dont know is what happens when the distribution is reinvested instead of being paid out. Does that come from my funds too?

  • Surprised its not mentioned however in recent versions of Windows 10:
Start+Alt+PrtScr will save a screenshot of the currently active window to the Pictures library under Screenshots
Similarly Start+PrtScr will save the whole screen

  • This post, these comments, i love ozb lol

    Snipping tool.

Else you can just press PtrScr and Ctrl+P in paint and resize/crop it in there.

  • Windows OneNote is very useful for capturing screenshots / snipping:

Take computer to library, ask librarian to use the photocopier, take a photocopy of screen then scan it!

It sounds like you've already got your screenshot, but I think Facebook makes it possible to search through ads if you also want to try that avenue as well

I have stored it in saved, but it still looks live when clicked on from saved. I have made a comment on that ad, message responded but says he is not the right department to make a complaint. I am thinking of leaving it 2 weeks to see what happens now that I have opted for reinvestment, but I am not happy at all so far

  • On Windows: windows button (between ctrl and alt) + shift + S.

Go wherever you want and right click > paste or ctrl+V

  • Somehow I doubt a screenshot is going to get your money back.

    • its to ensure they dont change the wording on their website or ad after I start my complaint process, so that I can take it to Asic if I have to (to support my complaint) This is a major institiution I am dealing with.

Good luck mate, I mean a screen shot isn't necessarily proof though right.

        • its what lured me in to the Fund

          • @screensaver: What's the fund I'll check it out and tell you if you have a chance of getting your money back…. even just PM me the page.

  • I can apply for withdrawel on a quarterly basis but that will involve fees as I have not been in long

Not sure what the complaint about the managed fund is about, however the situation seems normal.

Say there is a managed fund that is distributing a return of 3%pa every month. The unit price on 1 December 2020 is 1.000000

The unit price everyday increases everyday for the 3%pa accrual that is generated, ie on 2 December 2020 the unit price is 1.000000 + (0.03 / 365) = 1.000082192
    3 December 2020 = 1.000246575
    4 December 2020 = 1.000328767
    5 December 2020 = 1.000410959
    6 December 2020 = 1.000493151
    etc
until 31 December 2020 when it gets to 1.002547945. This will be the cum-distribution price.

The final 31 December 2020 price will then be adjusted downwards by the distribution that they will pay, ie 0.03 * 31/365 = 0.002547945 lower, back to 1.000000 which is known as the ex-distribution price and this is what will appear on your statements.

It sounds like you bought the units mid month, ie on 6 December 2020 at 1.000493151, and now see the units being valued as of 31 December 2020 at 1.000000 and are not happy as you see your 'capital' having gone done. There is nothing wrong or perverse here. This is how a managed fund works. The price increases during the month for the income accrual and then is adjusted downwards as it is paid out.

    • Yes I did buy on the 4th December. I should never have bought something I dont understand. I have removed my comment from their ad yesterday but I still dont have a good feeling.

  • Awesome Screenshot for Chrome/Edge.

  • Pam…

If you don't know how to screenshot, it worries me that the company you're dealing with might actually be a scam company and trying to steal your money or details…

    • no its a major company, owns a bank etc

      • Then it's quite likely the fund is 100% legit, and you didnt find out how it works before getting into it.

  • Windows 10 has a software called "snipping tool", or download Snagit (there should be a free trial)

  • Pam, please for the commenters who took the time to answer your question effectively to update your original thread description with their methods in dot points to help others, so they don't have to read 71 plus posts for the answer. Good luck in your dealings with investment scheme.
