Active Noise Cancellation, other headphones have that. Only thing other headphones don't have is Siri, share audio between two sets of apple products. Seems like a lot for headphones at the current price.

I personally bought one from Apple store to try and see if I like them or not.
Coming from Sony WH1000XM4.I think Airpods Max are better than Sony's once you give them a fair shot. I was soo inclined towards returning them within the first day or two.
Returned the one from Apple store and got from Costco for $100 off after using for 2 weeks consistently.Price? The tech behind the headphones and build quality slightly makes up for it. Rest it's the brand name. Don't hate on people buying a Merc when a Toyota can do the same job. I have put my Sony's back in the box as they just feel cheap after using Airpods Max.
From a consumer point of view:
1. Transparency mode of Airpods Max is 100 times better than Sony's. Just makes them more usable and forget that they are even there on your head.
2. Seamless Apple "ecosystem" integration.
3. Sound quality is slightly better but nothing worth the extra money. The first 2 points are dealbreaker once you are spoilt lol.I have literally used Airpods Max for like 3-4 hrs everyday just because of the convenience that they connect to my iPhone, iPad and Apple TV seamlessly.
I just press a buttton and my no name chinese headphones connect to chinese $100 android phone seemlessly
