Wonder Woman 84 - Hoyts Cinema Metal Popcorn Tin

An odd request…

I was wondering if anyone had seen a Wonder Woman 84 metal popcorn tin available for sale at their local Hoyts cinema in NSW? If so, which cinema?

I contacted Hoyts via Facebook and they advised that one would be available. However both my local(ish) Hoyts cinemas in NSW advised that they did not receive any stock.

I have seen one available for sale on ebay, so presumable they do exist.

I collect popcorn tins (yes I can sense your judgement and I accept it), and I would like to add this one to my collection.

Thanks :)

Edit: The popcorn tin looks like this

    /me grabs the popcorn

    • That's legit funny.

If you stay until most people leave a popular session, you will probably find a few of these abandoned. Also usually about $5 to $20 in coins.

Source: A friend worked there in highschool.

The movie is fine. It's no more silly than the original Superman movies, people need to lighten up. And it costars The Mandelorian. And the women in it are all 10/10s. What more can you ask for a single movie.

      • I make no commentary on the movie itself, but as far as popcorn tins go, it is a pretty sweet design :)

      • Logic, coherency, a good story.
The original Superman films are goofy af.

No sillier than a lot of the “adventure” films. Me I prefer the Marvel ones they have more humour. But some of the Marvel ones were duds, as well. The last two, really, needed a few more rewrites. It’s a pity the Black Panther guy died.

      • That wasn't even in the comment you were referring to…

Or are you just hanging off top comment?

        • Usually when someone says they are grabbing the popcorn they are trying to say there will be upcoming drama in the comments in response to OP. I anticipated, or maybe jokingly anticipated (I can't remember), that Gunther was thinking WW1984 sucked and that OP was a fool for wanting this popcorn container.

Still better than pop vinyl or those duck things…

Thankfully the employees at my local Hoyts know me now, so when I ask for the popcorn tin without the popcorn, they are only mildly amused. There were many awkward encounters in the early days.

I don’t know much about NSW but they are mentioned for Event Cinemas.

    • That's actually a cardboard popcorn bucket, rather than a metal popcorn tin. Thanks tho :)

Look further down, the tin is mentioned.

          Oh yes so it is!

Looks like they have them at an Event cinema 40 mins from me… might go for a drive tomorrow.

Thanks so much! I Owe you!

    • Same concept… that one was released in the USA, the Hoyts one is a different design.

      It looks like this

Buying the USA one from eBay is a last resort option, the shipping is expensive and they tend to get crushed in the post. I once had a seller post one in an envelope with no protection. It arrived basically flat as a pancake.

Didn't know this was a thing, but now that I have seen this one I want one. Typical Ozb thing. No Events in Melb showing WW

      Sorry about that ;)

I collect popcorn tins (yes I can sense your judgement and I accept it), and I would like to add this one to my collection.

I'm guilty of the same but only for MCU Films.

    • Yes indeed, they do make up the majority of my collection too :)

      • Have you tried contacting Local Hoyts Cinema directly (over the phone)?

That's what I did when I looking for the tins.

        • Yeah I rang 3 different cinemas within an hour of my house, none had any.

Thanks to trytobehelpful above, I may have found one at Event Macquarie. Will try my luck tomorrow :)

Unusual cause Event rarely has tins, usually it is Hoyts.

          • @Smulder: TIL that Hoyts has an Official eBay Store, which sells collectables…

            • @RichardL: I didn't know that, thanks :)

It's usually not a problem, my local Hoyts has always had popcorn tins available.

Wonder Woman was a COVID anomaly apparently.

    • As an aside, if you are ever looking to sell popcorn tins for any of the movies below, let me know! They are the only MCU tins I am missing (worth a try haha) :)

      • Incredible Hulk
      • Iron Man 1
      • Iron Man 2
      • Winter Soldier
      • Did they actually have tins for those movies?

        • Possibly not, I have never seen them come up for sale on Ebay.

Winter Soldier is the most likely, as there were tins for prior movies (eg First Avenger, Thor, Avengers 1 etc).

          • @Smulder: Just picked up a Winter Soldier tin from ebay. Bit excited!

            So yes, does exist lol

https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/237754/86282/fb_img_16… This one looks good as well, but not available here I suspect.

    • Yeah it looks great! Unfortunately there are often multiple versions for the same movie, and the one we get in Australia isn't always my favourite.

  • I think Diana is looking pretty good for someone who should be about 70 years older than she was in the first movie.

    • Wonder Woman 84

From the title, I thought 84 - lol

Ehh, I'd argue that's pretty cool actually. People collect all sorts of things from Pokemon cards to figurines to weirder stuff. What's wrong with popcorn tins. Is it Hoyts only or do you want to me to pop into nearby Event Cinemas on George St to have a look for you?

Have you got a pic of your collection for curiosity? Did you get the Harley Quinn bobblehead cup for Birds of Prey?

This is about half of them, on the wall in my movie room. Mostly Marvel and DC ones :)

I have a lot more, but have run out of space to display them.

Not only Hoyts, I will collect Event too, though they don't have them very often.

I don't usually collect drink cups, I have a few but mostly just the tins :)

Thanks for the offer, but I am going to check Macquarie Centre tomorrow… looks like they are available there :)

    No negative judgement here.

    I love unashamed nerd hobbies.

The beauty of nerd hobbies is that they actually show what the person likes, nobody gets into collecting popcorn tins for the ladies.

    I love it dude.

Success at Macquarie Centre cinema! Popcorn tin acquired. Thanks everyone!! :)
