Lee Kum Kee Seafood XO Sauce 80g $5 @ Coles

650

This is the cheapest I seen. Most Asian grocery stores sell it for more then $13.

So $5 is a bargain is you ask me. Coles in Tooronga Village have plenty in stock.

Unfortunately not available all store.

This is the ultimate anti-halal sauce.

More like ultimate anti-kosher….muslims can still shrimp…

        • Interesting, I thought the dietary rules were the same since they're both Abrahamic religions. I guess the subsequent prophets relaxed some of the restrictions.

Note: Made in PRC not HK

There is still vast different in term of food quality

          It always depends, generalisation…

          • @Jamesx: Agreed.

And the generalised comment is generally correct.

      • +1

I don't dispute that at all.

All we know is that all the unethical practices in regards to food safety (that had resulted in deaths) had all occurred in the main land only

@gottacatchemall: Mainland Chinese do have a habit of standing out on these topics, don’t they?

          • @gottacatchemall: So… what you're saying is they should be ashamed of their heritage and ancestory!? and should accept enslavement without raising even a whisper? Got it.

          • @gottacatchemall: Funny though they don't speak good English.

        • +2

Correction: It doesn't (or won't) but should.

Spineless Western government will never do anything to help them though. One half sold them out. The other is afraid of being called hurty names by the first.

        • Hong Kong belongs to HKers, and China…they aren't mutually exclusive

        • -2

Yes, of course, and all other Chinese people as well.

It's called mainland and HK, they are both part of China. This is a shopping bargain site, not a political site. If you have different opinions with the facts please go to other sites.

      • Hahahah youre so triggered! All I said was where it manufactured, nothing political about that.

  • Is this the original XO sauce?

  • +11

Doesn't matter got 12, hopefully i get it, i just eat it on its own. it's my poison, others eat ice cream or caviar, I eat XO sauce

The AMOY brand is made in HK but cost $10.80 for 80g.

  • I bought one from Coles last time when they were on sale, and I still have 80% left in the fridge. It's definitely cheaper than buying from Chinese Grocery but I won't buy it again. I like XO sauce but I only stick to those freshly made from local restaurants!

  • Yum cha

  • "Most Asian grocery stores sell it for more then $13."

    what???

    • $13 is for the original xo sauce which i suspect has more premium ingredients like the dried scallop. This $5 is the cheaper version

    Kum Sauce? Nah…

Never thought a sauce can be so political…

    • Sauces are not political, their sources became so, specially when the C Word appears.

  • How do you eat XO saucee?

    • +3

Put it on your meat pie of course

      • I thought you put bbq/tomato sauce on pie

      • -1

Kum sauce on a meat pie, sounds nasty

  • I put it in my bolognese sauce once. It did taste a lot nicer.

    • great fusion idea

  • Is this the same sauce that is included with hargow at ALDI or Woolworths?

No idea what this is, but want to try it

    • negative.

Usually used in stir fried style dishes.

I generally use it with meat dishes but my favorite is with pipi's as the sauce gets inside the shells and you can suck it off that.

      • Thanks will try stir fry. I do remember some of my friends eating pipis with xo sauce at a seafood joint. Not personally a fan of pipis (use to use them for bait) but each to their own.

This is the cheap variant. Good for fried rice and stuff. Chuck it on everything. Get the ones with abalone if you can though. Good stuff.
