Arrived today. Very quick turn around time after the 6-8 week quoted wait.

Great little machine, very happy with it.

    • Are the fans always audible?

      • No, not at all. I've been running it at 15W (the middle performance option) and have only heard them spin up when doing a full download of Windows updates. They were so quiet I hardly noticed them.

        • Weird, my one is in the middle but the fans are loud when opening up an application like vantage. They do seem to stop after around 30 seconds though.

          • @spend2little2much: Not sure, maybe update the drivers? I did a half hour of gaming as a test and the device got warm but the fans were barely audible.

            • @railspider: Did you update the BIOS? Loud when watching youtube, think i'll have to get it checked.

              • @spend2little2much: Hey, how's your fan situation now? Mine does fire up randomly and I'm not sure why…
Task manager shows random spikes of 100% CPU, I think there must be something in the background but not sure how to diagnose the problem. Did you get yours checked?

                • @mifflindunder: They fire up randomly because it needs to be cooled, simple as that. Why are people so surprised fans on laptops come on randomly. Would you prefer they were on all the time? Unless the fan is constantly on from start-up it's all good (if it was it would mean the temperature sensor on the motherboard is faulty). They only come on when it needs to be cooled, which can be at random times.

                  • @Sean8802: Ah makes sense, sorry pretty uneducated about this stuff but does that explain the random spikes in CPU to 90-100%? Usually when the fans fire up if I open Task Manager it shows CPU around those figures…
If the fans fire up to cool the laptop, why would CPU usage spike though?

                    • @mifflindunder: All good. The the reason the fan is on is because the CPU has spiked so it needs to cool so the CPU doesn't throttle. Spiking is normal, stay say at 90% doing nothing for example for an extended period of time is not normal.

                    • @mifflindunder: I have had mine for about 6 months. No issues with the fans whatsoever. I alternate between the three power modes via BIOS or Vantage..

                • @mifflindunder: Didn't get it checked, been too busy. They are constantly running pretty much the whole time, not loudly but still audible.

I recieved mine today. It appears to have a quality issue - it can not sit flat on a flat table!

    • Are the fans always audible?

      • If you change the cooling to passive or set the laptop to 12.5w mode it should shut off the fans at idle. You can change the wattage through bios or lenovo vantage in the power options (it'll be three options I think, performance, smart batter and ultra battery or something like that).

        • After updating some stuff it seems like the fan noise stops around 30 seconds of opening an application.

    • I have had a similar issue with mine, ordered one back in November and I noticed it had some dead pixels scattered around the screen. They sent out a replacement same day and said I could meet he current one till it arrived. The second laptop had even more issues, dead pixels, a wired noise coming from what I assume to be the ssd, and that most annoying the wobble / It wouldn't sit flat. Contact support nd they send out another replacement. This arrived a few days ago and it has a wobble as well. Anyways now I have three laptops and waiting for support to get back to me as dhl said to wait till all of the products that are going to be returned are ready to be returned. Seems to be little to no quality control on these laptops.

I ordered this on the 19th of Jan and some people who ordered after me have got theirs already. Lucky buggers! Anyway, my delivery date has been pushed back from 5th of March to 19th of March through their order status page… I start uni in 2 weeks and need it desperately as my macbook is on its last legs

    • I also ordered on the 19th of Jan and mine changed from 5th of March to 19th of March then back to 5th.

      • Ordered 21st, had 5th and then 19th of March as well, now it's down to the 4th.

Was excited that I'd have it sooner when I saw a few others had theirs already

        • I ordered on the 20th and mine is 8th March

          • @Lazy2g: They have an interesting way of prioritizing orders

Just to explain my experience with this deal. Purchased on the 16th of January. Paid with PayPal. Money came out right away. Then 2 weeks later it was back in my account so in guessing it was a hold or something. All the while there was no estimated delivery date on my order yet. Contacted lenovo who said my order was in a stuck stage and they would escalate it. They then said they had fixed the order but there was an issue with payment and that someone would contact me for payment. A week has passed and still no one has contacted me for payment. I have contacted them 3 times about this and they keep saying they will contact me asap. Very frustrating

  • Just adding my 2c, I ordered on the 16/1 as well and paid with credit card. The transaction was pending and it didn't go through, which made sense as Lenovo say they only charge the card when it's acutally shipped. My expected delivery date was 5/3 and there's been no change or update since. Still patiently waiting.

  • My Credit Card was charged today for the 16/1 Order. So hopefully they are close to being on their way now.

    • how long did it take before you received a shipping update. My credit card was charged today, and I also ordered on 16/1. I'm keen to finally see this laptop arrive

      • My debit card hasn't been charged yet but I received my shipping update and tracking last night. My card was getting charged, and then a few days later the transaction would disappear and money was back in my account. I assume the payment was in the authentication stage. It's shipping from China using DHL express.

  • Update for those eagerly waiting like myself.

Ordered 18/1, credit card charged and shipping notice received 18/2.

Shipping out of mainland China via DHL express, can't see an estimated arrival date yet.

    • I am exactly the same, should arrive late February or early March.

      • Online reviews of DHL Express say 3-5 business days from mainland china, COVID delays?
Mine just cleared China customs this morning, Lenovo does say March 1st.

        • Mine arrived in Sydney this morning which took 5 days, including Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully I'll be getting it within the next few days!

Last time I ordered something from China using DHL express, it arrived at my doorstep within 6 days.

          • @ef7411: my one has arrived today, so hopefully everyone will get it soon too.

            • @haz: Same here!

              • @ef7411: Hey how is the fan noise?

                • @spend2little2much: I can't hear the fan at all just browsing the Web and watching YouTube. However, after launching Minecraft for my sister to play, around 10 minutes after playing on max settings, it is audible. Granted, minecraft isn't the most demanding game but trying to give you an idea under what circumstances it will start to become audible.

                  • @ef7411: I have 5 tabs open and it keeps turning on and off at an audible volume. :(

                    • @spend2little2much: I think there's a setting in the BIOS that you can change that limits the fans like power saving mode or something. I haven't tweaked anything myself just yet because it does everything I need it to fine. I have around 1-6 tabs open on Firefox at any given time and haven't heard the fans once. It was very audible when my sister launched Minecraft, but playing with headphones should negate the fan volume.

            • @haz: Hey how is the fan noise?

            • @haz: Mine just arrived as well! Have to wait until after work to fire it up though :(

  • Can anyone confirm, the ram is soldered on but is there spare slot? (did a bit of searching but can't find confirmation)

    I think I need 32GB.

My desktop home office PC was running 16GB and struggling, just too many apps open. 32GB fixed it. But it is an older i7. Does this Ryzen chip change it somehow?

I use my laptop as a desktop (plug it into large screens etc) as I roam around different offices.

    • I suggest using Edge instead of Chrome (don't even install Chrome) and run a Windows debloat script. Don't install apps that work well just in a browser. 16GB should easily be enough for "too many apps".

  • Hi, My CR cashback was declined because the BACK2SCHOOL code was not an approved one. Did anyone else who purchased the laptop have the same issue?

    Thanks.
