  • Was looking at it in Bunnings the other day. Wish they could've provide a korean bbq like mash tray.

  • Showing $197 in SA

I wonder sometimes how much better these minis would be at the park than say a rectangular oven tray full of charcoal with an old oven rack over it.

Based on the blurb I’d say no real diff other than

      A E S T H E T I C

I bought the Coles hibachi grill for $50 at end of last year. Yet to set it up but it’s all the same idea really…

      • The $50 grill does a better job?

        • +1

I can’t really imagine the Heston box making the food taste any better? Especially since both are charcoal powered.

I bought The same grill from Coles december last year
I used it for times and it was great
I put it in the middle the table and cooked For a group of people
Just don’t use The Jiffy lighters To start the Coals
It leaves a plastic kind of residue On the coals
Cheap and very tasty social event

        • What do you suggest to light? I was thinking the $39 electric starter at Bunnings. I was thinking about leaving it till winter and just sit out back - do up some skewers and have marshmallows over fire for dessert

          • +2

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yes the ozito Electric starter is perfect to start the Coals
Get a $10 chimney from Bunnings as well
Half fill the chimney with coals
Fire up the bottom of the chimney
            Wait 15 minutes until hot
Pour them out into the grill
When the coals are settled and red hot close the vents as they Reduce the flare ups and make a better cooking heat when the coals go white

I haven't had that issue with the Jiffy to date. I swap between jiffy and redheard. Which ever is cheaper. I'll check next time

Those el cheapo Coles items can be pretty good. I had the webber clone table top BBQ. $25 bucks. Never washed and left outside in the weather. Lasted for years. In the end I had to ditch it because the screw hole for one of the legs rusted out. I now have a $35 BBQ Galore table top Webber clone. Can't fault it. I keep this one under the eaves.

The afghans at my local park do the charcoal tray method, literally cook and then take the tray home. No fuss.

Judging by the quality of their bbq aroma, they have nailed it I rekon!

      • Afghans - one can only hope to achieve their level of BBQ mastery. It's second nature to them.

  • anyone used these?

  • I'm not sure this is a great price if you search back through the archives, I remember looking at these pre-covid and around xmas sale time. Possibly worth hanging on.

  • Still $197 in Sydney… possibly only Vic?

  • Those mini pit boss kamados from Bunnings people were getting for about $60 were a way better deal.

  • not the price in Sydney but can be found for around same price on mydeal as they have a $10 off pop up https://www.mydeal.com.au/everdure-by-heston-blumenthal-cube…

  • same price at costco moorabbin plus they had stock even though their website says out of stock

Get a Weber Go Anywhere. $130 and it'll last you forever.

    • Thanks, I got that instead.

Guys be careful with this purchase. The bbq is actually a cake

  • I went to Bunnings (Rockdale) on Friday and bought it for $147.

Used it yesterday and it`s a perfect taste charcoaled bbq. :)

Better to call up your nearest Bunnnings first to confirm.

  • Was researching these last month for a camping trip, ended up buying a Weber Go Anywhere because you can cook with the lid on plus it’s a little bigger.
I used to own a everdure echurrasco and I loved that but it had the same downfall, you can’t cook with the lid on.
Highly recommend the Weber GA for anyone looking for a portable charcoal bbq

    • Also have the weber GA
      Its an awesome portable bbq

  • I got this last week at Bunnings for $148.
Did a Smoky barbie chicken.. Pretty decent bbq, no fuss. Make sure follow the tip by them and use silver foil on top of charcoal tray.

  • No idea about this one but the other everdures I have seen and owned have been a quality item that last for years if not abused.

  • I bought one in Dec. My first charcoal BBQ. Have done a few thick scotch fillets on it and had friends say it's the best steak they've had.
I bought it as a replacement for my gas Korean grill but haven't tried bulgogi on it yet.

My plan is to put a hole in the centre of my outdoor table and drop the grill into it.
Bunnings has some stainless steel grill plates I'm thinking of cutting to suit the Cube.

    • Kbbq table! Sounds awesome

  • I was at bunnings Bankstown off Fairford Rd and saw these this morning. They had 2. I bought 1. Planning to use it for Japanese style cooking… think it will work?

  • Shows $197
    Nsw

    • there is a reduced price tag instore

  • I bought this during a Black Friday sale for $150. it's gotten a serious work out since, every 2nd Saturday, we've used it.
Easy to light (use the natural fire starters), I used the Everdure Charcoal as well. Cooks well with a nice hint of smokyness.
It's a good size for just bbqing on the table and getting hot food straight to the plate and eating while it's hot rather than cooking everything at once.
Even made a second higher rack for it using some steel beams and welding a rack to to the beams, just space the beams out and it's perfect.

Keep in mind portable charcoal BBQs cannot be used in a Total Fire Ban, which happens a lot here in WA's summer. If you're going to be using one for camping or day trips, I would get a gas bbq instead to avoid the letdown of not being able to use a bbq.

    • An important tip, planning a BBQ away from home, take both Gas and Coals.
