Is the main benefit still the BOGOF deal?

    • +5

Yes, which now also includes the iced latte range.

      • +1

I didn't see anything on the website saying otherwise, but, are you allowed to drink both yourself?

Update: looks like it. You can't get the free upsize at the same time as the free coffee for anyone reading

        • +37

are you allowed to drink both yourself?

          Definitely not

If they catch you, they will cancel your membership.

          • +10

@jv: I once saw someone get their membership cancelled.
The store now only makes them coffee with International Roast

          • @jv: Just do takeaway! :)

        • Why would you get the free upsize when a second coffee gives you more coffee?

          • +1

@spaceflight: each upsize give you an extra shot.

            • @sunnyc: But still less coffee.

2 coffees gives you more than 1 of the next size

          • +1

@spaceflight: Not sure why you got negged…. For the Iced Latte upsize from reg to large value is $1, whereas BOGOF value is $5.5.

            • @umoddbro: My local GYG can do better coffee than Coffee Club and it's $2. No membership required.

If you're regularly picking up coffees for other people, $2.75 each is good. But spending $5.50 a day on coffee club coffee as well as a $12.50 membership fee seems unwise.

Upsizing is not an efficient means at all in comparison.

              • @pennypincher98: What about if you drink espresso? $5.50 for two double espressos seems alright. That's assuming they do doubles as standard as most cafes I've been to do.

I've never been to coffee club but I don't think I'd trust my local GYG to do coffee since they can't do burritos. :P

                • @Diji: I don't drink espressos, so I have no idea their prices to compare it to aha

That's actually true! I ordered a burrito, fries and coffee and the fries were nice, coffee was actually good (but it took them legitimately over 5 minutes to make ONE). Burrito was so sad, borderline insulting to Mexican culture.

I just made the most of the sign up promo, didn't get a soft drink because I already had plenty. Certainly wasn't expecting the coffee to be the best part 😂😂

                  • @pennypincher98: I remember the last time I went to the local GYG I used a promo which ended up getting me a burrito for 75 cents or some small amount like that and I still felt ripped off.

  • Thanks OP. Still had a month to go but it adds on I think.

    • Can you please let me know if it extend your subscription I have 3 months left

      • +2

I just renewed my mum's card and it extends.

The expiry was 17 Feb 2021.

After renewal it expires 3 March 2022 (I don't know why I got those extra days).

        • +3

Check again. When I paid the screen showed 3/3/2022 but now it shows 01/02/2022.

          I lost 17 days.

        • +1

There’s something dodgy with their dates. My member card says expiry 21/12/2020, but App said 21 Jan 2021. Was still working fine.
Renewed today and App says expiry 2/1/2022, and website says expiry 1/2/2022. American vs Aust dates, but I dunno which is which, so dunno if expiring in Jan or Feb. If (yes ‘if’) renewal started today, rather than expiry date, and expiry is Jan, then they dropped 17 days. But I did possibly get a bonus month on the expiring membership

          • @BigBirdy: I did a bit of research and discovered the extra month last year was a bonus month CC gave due to Covid limiting membership benefits, and I received an email confirming my membership has been renewed to 01 Feb 2022, so I think I got a bonus 11 (or maybe 13) days, 21/01/2021 to 01/02/2022.

  • Signed up. Thanks TA!

Well I just paid $12.50 for it..let's see if I can get value out of it

        • +2

Yep, I got mine for free.. why pay for the coffee when you get the milk for free..

    • i had a free membership for a year as well. i found it so underwhelming lol

        • +1

Used to be food item discounts too.

  • +14

Thanks! I got this for my elderly mum last year and she loves it.

Pre-COVID, she had a different coffee date each morning with one of her kids, grandkids or friends. This paid for itself in a week.

Hopefully things go back to 'normal' this year…

Did you go to Degreaves(Coffee) Lane?

I moved to Perth 10 years ago and try to go back to Melbourne every year for family coffee is always high on my priority when I return.

Thats not to say Perth has bad coffee its just that most Melbourne cafe's are better than Perth counterparts

  • One time buy in or annual?

  • +6

All the CBD cafes are struggling as it is, Coffee Club is having a grab at what's left.

Remote working is a bitch, sorry. It's here to stay too. Time for hipsters to find another skill, wearing an apron and growing a beard never made coffee taste any better anyway.

    • +3

What are you on about, these hipsters are incredibly skilled and in demand. They make or break a cafe.

    • +6

This program has been around for like a decade.

    • +4

Never seen a hipster working at a Coffee Club.
They're crappy franchises with bad coffee, like Gloria Jeans or Starbucks.
Typically appear to be mum and dad franchisees that don't care to train their staff properly, and flavour of their coffee reflects this.

      • +1

Definitely. I have had coffee at a coffee club twice. Both times awful, worse than McDonald's coffee. The staff are all untrained teenagers in their first job.

  • +1

Few years ago they offered VIP for $5..

  • +2

I am trying to justify to buy the Coffe Club membership but it is difficult when coffee from 7Eleven and Coles = $1

    • lol

    • +1

Still no alternative milk options at 7Eleven though??

      • Selected stores have soy milk.

    • I have 2 Coles on opposite sides of my house. One still sells coffee for 80 cents and the other is $2

    • +1

If you are a person that buys a coffee at work everyday, it's deff worth it. People used to pair up and share the membership, or they would give you a coupon so that you can redeem the free one the next day. You just need to go 13 times to make this worth it.

      • they would give you a coupon so that you can redeem the free one the next day

If this is true, it adds a whole new level of value to the membership.
Normally small barista made coffee is around $4+ so being able to get $2.75 is a decent saving definitely.

*That being said, the quality of coffee seems to vary wildly.

  • It is a really good deal. However, I have a difficult time to access the coffee club shops means they do not have many stores around.

    • +3

If you set one up you could have free coffee anytime you wanted.

      • Only if….lol

  • My local coffee shop coffee is not that good?!

  • awesome! Thanks TA. This will be handy. It'd be good to try their ice latte ranges.

    • +1

You don't need this VIP membership to try their coffee

  • Thanks OP. My card expired over the weekend. Looking forward to try out the iced latte range :)

  • +1

So t&c says “coffee based” can the bogof be a hot chocolate at all? (Wifey dosnt like coffee)

And can you get syrups in Bogof and pay surcharge ?

    • Yeah, I would get the mocha or hot chocolate :) not sure about the syrups though

  • +5
