Samsung Galaxy Nexus $653 + $30 Fedex Delivery @ Expansys

350

Hey guys, long time lurker first time deal-poster here :-)
It seems the war price on the Galaxy nexus has started and I'm sure this is the cheapest grey import right now. I put it on my cart and it comes to $683 delivered.

  • That's a good deal in terms of price. Has anyone deal with this site yet?

    • I knew this site since 10 years ago, mentioned alot by digital consumer media.

check wp forums for the awesome reviews this site has

    • This is a good price. Most of the Whirlpool people like me paid $700+ for first batch from either Clove or Handtec.

You will get your product, eventually… (and sometimes with Chinese characters)

  • Very interested. Tried this phone at a Telstra kiosk - so big! Bigger than my nexus s and the Samsung Galaxy S2!

Unlike women, bigger does not always mean better

      Does it?

  • Tempting indeed

  • Do they have this at the T store now on Bourke street?

    • You would hope that they will have it at Android Land.

    • sure do

    • quickly tried on at T store at Chaddy. It seems a bit laggy?? Perhaps it just felt laggy with the big security device attached to it and can't operate it ergonomically.

        it is a speed demon

        • I have one and have to agree with Garratt that some apps do stutter, particularly when scrolling. Just try using Twitter… It's horrible.

It could be there are so many pixels on the 720p screen (1280 x 720) that refreshes can be perceptibly slower. Hopefully when the developers check the "use GPU rendering" flag before compiling it will help. (You can set "Force GPU Rendering" in the Developer options yourself, though some apps crash after doing it.)

Until then, do try it out in store first for the apps you are going to use. I recommend the phone if you want an Android, but wouldn't want anyone to be disappointed.

yes they have it at bourke street with free ice cream sandwich (I went twice to get the ICS)

  • Early adopters recurring ruminations:

  • Trying to hold out for the Samsung Galaxy S3; but if this drops to ~$550 in the next month or two, will buy.

    • when is the s3 actually coming out?

      • +1

When it's time for a fresh release to excite the market again when it gets bored! CES announcement maybe?

But part of the story is when Samsung customises TouchWiz for Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich.

One of the big benefits of the Nexus phones is that they run "pure" Google Android. This has two major benefits:

        1) No skinned customisations that replace Google's idea of how a phone should work with Samsung's. Google is doing all the R&D behind Android and it's a fair bet they have a better idea how it should run, particularly with their new emphasis on UI. (Ice Cream Sandwich is much more refined than Gingerbread, approaching iPhone polish.)

        2) Updates are much quicker to arrive, and are guaranteed to actually arrive. For example, the previous Nexus phone - the Nexus S - is receiving Ice Cream Sandwich right now. Galaxy S2 owners are still waiting.
